Credo said something a while back about c ratings on batteries. I have been doing some homework but still cant seem to wrap me head around it.
I have 14500 IMR 600mah batteries. They are not marked who makes them but I have read the IMR batteries usually have a c rating of 5 or more. I have been looking at trustfire type batteries that are 900mah. I have read that the c rating on trustfire batts is usually 1.5.
I know that the mah rating determines how long the battery can go between charges.
I have been using mostly dual coil carts now with my epower and my main question is this:
Will the higher c rated batteries perform better? (not counting time)
Mainly I am looking at getting new batteries and i am not sure what is better. There is a IMR 14650 HD with 950mah or a trustfire 14650 1600mah.
I know the 1600mah would last a bunch longer but if the c rating is that much lower would there really be a performance increase?
As a note part of what got me thinking about this is I have a mod box that takes 2 14500 in parallel (3.7v but more current) and the Dual coils seem to like this setup better than my epower with 1 14500. So time to upgrade my epower battery
:vapor:
Thanks in advance for any info and tips you guys have. I'm not too great at math so I just cant seem to figure it out

The C rating is a way of rating the amount of charge or discharge a battery can handle. In relation to discharge, which will effect performance, a 1600 mAh battery rated at 1.5 will discharge at 1.5*1600mAh=2400mA without damaging the battery. In other words, you can dish out 2.4A max bursts. A 950mAh battery with a C rating of 5 will dish out 4.75A bursts. It's kind of like a peak rating on an amplifier. A typical 400w amp usually has a peak of 800w, but that's only at a short burst. The higher C rating batteries will light up a coil a lot faster and a lot hotter, but they won't last near as long as a lower rated battery.

i think my charger died on me....both batteries light up green after being used and no fiddling around with it makes it change. =( Not sure where I can get a battery charger on such short notice. Cant seem to find anything local for lithium batteries...or am I not looking with the right search terms? This bites...b/c i am getting ready to go out of town!

say I found some 14500 at lighthound.com for 3-4 bucks. What is the difference in ICR and IMR? all the specs are the same except for the 'energy density' figure...
oh and the price lol

oh and noodoggy - i dont think it is the charger. I think your batteries died. I have now have 2 batteries that died the exact same way. The charger stopped recognizing them. One would still charge if I put a different one next to it but the light would turn orange instead of red/green. And that batt would not work in epower just in mod box. Last night it finally quit all together. 2nd one this month and they are only about 2 months old maybe.
Hope this info helps :vapor:

Oh here is best deal I found on a charger:

thanks for that info...still wondering where i can get a charger asap! lol cant believe of all the things i have doubles of...the one thing i dont is the charger which i would have expected to have lasted more than 5 weeks...not very long durability =(

oh....what makes that battery such a good battery?

Have you tried bending the negative tab towards the positive a bit? My charger stopped working a couple weeks after I bought my epower and adjusting the tab fixed it.

mwa - I am getting some of those batteries :) but the 14500 I found are BDL which I read is supposed to be one of the best. So not cheap just low price. They are just on clearance - I think the site is changing over to their own branded batteries or something and is trying to get rid of them. With the discount it puts the IMR 14500 600mah at 2.99ea and the ICR 14500 600mah at 4.12ea The only difference I can find is the ICR has an Energy Density of 146wh/kg while the IMR has an Energy Density of 106wh/kg.
I have no idea what this means and wanted to know if the ICR battery was worth the extra buck.

On the charger - I dont know about the epower specific charger but I would advise not bending the tab. I have a trustfire charger the tab was crooked and when i tried to straiten it just a little it snapped right off. Cheap Chinese metal lol

That's not the case with the e-power charger. The tab that contacts the negative end of the battery slowly bends with use because the spring is too stiff. If it starts loosing the connection it needs to be adjusted back. I've had to adjust mine twice.

OK that makes sense but the batteries have all the same other specs . So would the extra 40 wh/kg make any measurable difference in practical use? Enough to justify an extra dollar each? Since these are my goto batteries in all my other mods I want to take advantage of the sale and grab some. I'll prolly pop the extra dollar for the BDL ICR ones but but if they perform the same you cant beat 2.99 price tag for BDL IMR

hey just found these batteries:
IMR14650-950mAh 3.7V li-ion battery (2 pcs) with shipping comes to 9.77 a PAIR. BUT shipped form hong kong or somewhere take 2 weeks to get prolly.
But thats half the price most other places have.

Does it make any difference that these are not BDL? or are the BDL batteries that much better to demand the higher price? There are no specs listed but it matches the other IMR batteries. I'm poor and want the best bang for my buck lol. I dont mind waiting for the shipping if these are the same batteries.

So hopefully in 3-4 days we can exchange it out for you. We do need the old ones back, they are asking us to send so they can check the situation. And we _want_ to send them back so they can understand any issues, it will cost us a bit to send back to China but we really believe in the product and we have had some great initial reaction and reviews on it but we want it to be refined to be the best it can be of course. They actually take enormous pride in what they do at SMOKtech, they are a young and eager company that is innovating and very into their product. I've rarely seen a Chinese e-cig company take so much pride in what they do as you can attest in something as little as the packaging for this product.

Have you received the ones with the pin adjustment made? Also, because I'm a new vaper and very easily confused, if I were to buy the e-power would I be better off just dripping with it instead of messing with carts since there seems to be a few little issues with that? I have just two days til ordering day and I'm still back-and-forth between what I want to get (a replaceable battery unit) and what I probably ought to get (a relatively idiot-proof ego pass-thru with 510 attys and simple carts).
