I can't see your picture that well but I suspect the rings is what held the coil that you ripped out earlier.

I never could get into cartos like some people do.

Find yourself a space heater (in Phoenix??). Tear that up. Those wires in there that glow red? That's the same wire they use in our attys.

Anyone with the intestinal fortitude to take apart a carto like that has the ability and gusto to rebuild anything with a coil...except a carto. You are my hero, April. I think you unwound and straightened the coil when you pulled out the wires. One of those wires probably has evidence of it.

Maybe that's the key, PawPaw. I always pack any tanks that have juice in them in my carry-on luggage.

Well I'll find out. I have tanks either completely full with no air bubbles or various other stages. Brought all but one tank for some reason. I've been in the bathroom vaping at the airport but have yet to attempt a stealth vape. My smallest equipment is a mvp so not too small though its ready to go.

I stealth vape at airports all the time, and I've never been hassled.

One trick is to take a small vape and then hold it for a few seconds so there's not as much vapor exhaled.

But DON'T stealth vape on the airplane. It's against airline rules (just like smoking, refusing to turn your cell phone off, etc.) and can get you in trouble with the law.

Yeah, tanks MAY leak. Depends on how well the cabin is pressurized. Sometimes my Vivi leaks, sometimes it doesn't. Don't fill the tank or better yet, just have one with liquid in it. You can fill more after landing.

Do you ever notice the way a sealed bag of chips expands in flight? That puppy just puffs up like an inflatable pillow. You would think it would explode but they are sealed extremely well. If there is any microscopic leak, that tank will leak.

Not to be gross or anything but I've noticed I have more "air" also after flying. I can only imagine what is going on inside our bodies during flights.

Typical cabin pressure of a commercial airliner simulates air pressure you would find at around 8000 ft above sea level. Vivi Novas will leak if the liquid rises above the atty. If the liquid stays below the atty, then only air will equalize from the tank and you will get no leaking. In a carto tank, since the holes are at the bottom, the only way for it not to leak would be to keep them upside-down for the duration of the flight so the punched holes are surrounded by air rather than liquid. A full carto tank will lurely leak as the smallest bit of air inside the tank expands with the drop in surrounding pressure. There was a lengthy discussion on this subject some months ago in the forums.

Nichrome is less resistive than Kanthal, so your coils will use more wire. That's a good thing for silica wicks. Nichrome, because of its lower resistance and inherent larger coil surface area, is often preferred for silica wicks. Kanthal has greater tensile strength and is more stable under higher temps (like what you find in sub-ohm genesis coils), which makes it a preferred choice for mesh wicks. The reasoning behind this is that silica doesn't heat up, so the liquid is heated by the coil alone and benefits from the larger coil surface area. In a mesh setup, the ss mesh also heats up and can drain heat from too many coils, so fewer coils are preferred at much higher temps. All the carto and clearo attys we buy are coiled with Nichrome. It's a fine choice if you're working with silica. Kanthal would be my only choice if working with mesh.

Thanks Xfoo, for clearing that up for me. Someone had told me that Nichrome was more resistive than Kanthal, so I wasn't sure which would be better to use on the mesh and/or ss cable.

I'm trying to remember who was talking to me about Nichrome just the other day.
