And you're using 3mm silica?

Slim, how did you wick yours?

Right now I have it set up with 2.5mm silica folded in 3rds. It looks like a pretzel before I wrap my coil.

After I fold the wick up I hold a pin with it and then wrap the coil. Pull the pin out and connect the pos and neg wires, trim the wick ends and its good to go :)

Yes, I am. I intend to take it apart this evening (family permitting), and do a double or triple wrap with the 3mm silica. See how that turns out. Also want to do the coil 90* to the post similar to what the guy in the video did that you linked to further up. It may end up using more wick, but with 100 feet of it sitting here, I think I can waste a bit. ;)

I did a monster wrap today. Just seeing what works for me. Came out to 1.8 ohm and it's a very mellow vape.
Last nights wrap had an issue somewhere I think I might of placed the extra cotton too tight and had burnt hits through out the night.
Used less cotton today so it's barely in the well and so far so good.

So you Kayfun users...I'm assuming the KF acts like a bottom coil in at least three respects. One, the vapor flows up a chimney surrounded by liquid thereby imparting a slight cooling action. Two, because the liquid feeds in the bottom, there should be no heavy/dark juice buildup common with top coils. Three, no tippy/swirelly is required.

Would this be correct?

You would love it bronze. It's about a perfect vape

I always use a pin when wrapping coils too. Seems everyone likes the doubling/tripling of the wick. I have 1mm silica and 3mm cotton here so nothing inbetween. May have to consider doubling the 3mm cotton. Waiting to hear back from Dust after he experiments tonight (family permitting of course). :)

Dust, I kinda liked that wick setup that dude was using in that vid. The ekowool seems perfect for what he was trying to do. The wrap-around end was nice and clean and could be butted up nicely against the feed channel without plugging it. And ekowool can be dry burned. I like that.

I don't usually like Ekowool, but I've found that it does nicely in the Kayfun. I use 3mm (ID) Ekowool unfolded in the Kayfun and it comes out perfect. I just fray the wick before I place the ends in the chamber and it wicks great. Eko in just about every other application stinks.

So, I got mine re-coiled while Chloe was watching TV after her dinner. Did the S shaped wick with 3mm silica (9mm total ) similar to the video, then trimmed it to length before screwing on the chimney section. 3/4 coil measured at a perfect 1.8ohms again. Twice lucky so far.. :)

Here's a couple pics..

Dusty nice shots. Hows it wicking? Seems like a lot of wick.

I redid my coil again a few minutes Ago. Used barely any extra cotton this time so just a strand is touching the base. 1.3 ohms and now I'm good for a week. I can rebuild these all night I really enjoy doing it.

Wow Dust...looks good! The guy in the vid trimmed his tag ends shorter I believe...not sure. They didn't really do anything so he nubbed them up. But if you're wicking up nicely, who cares. My 3mm cotton looks thicker than your silica wick but then hard to tell on a photo. I just measured my 3mm cotton wick with a digital caliper and it comes up 1.8mm. So the advertised 3mm is off a mile. Still makes for a fat wick when tripled up.

What diameter cotton strand are you using MP?

So far so good. Ofcourse, I'm not chain vaping it yet, and yes the thought did cross my mind that it might be too much wick, but I was committed by then. :D

The way I figure it, if it needs more juice, I'll just block the air-hole and straw effect it. Should work right? In theory?

Yeah just take a dry hit quickly. Once your committed there's no turning back. I've rewrapped this one 4 times in 2 days so I know what you mean :)

I think I'll settle for a double wrap (6mm) going forward. Waiting on some clarification from seller before processing the order for my 3mm & 2mm Ekowool and 100ft of 30 gauge Kanthal. Can't wait to properly start using that 25 feet of 7x7 wire wick cable that I bought a few months ago.

You got enough crap to build a three bedroom house.
