I'm getting the same flavor/feel affect out of this kayfun as I get out of my Phoenix rba's. This KF is hitting very nicely and it holds a metric assload of juice. I like it!

The best thing is that KayFun is noob compliant. In fact I failed badly with my RDA (igol-l and nimbus clone, no matter how people raving about those, I can never that them work correctly), I kind of failed even with vivi nova rebuild. But with kayfun it works like a charm at the 1st try, ekowool not rinced, kanthal wire not heated by a torch, with this big noob setup I get no dryhit no leak, strong hit and good flavor, constant performance with minutes of chain vape, nice looking too :)

Till now kayfun is my 1st RBA, should have taifun delivered next week, we will see.

I've rebuilt a variety of rebuildables and the Kayfun has been the easiest of them all (not that any of the others have been difficult except the finicky Genesis).

How long have you had your Kayfun?

Only 7 hours, a friend who lives in US talked me into this high end RBA, now I just cant stop, ordered taifun, ithaka too......maybe it is not a good idea, maybe it is better to order some more kayfun. I dont know.

What would you recommand as coil build for kayfun? Till now I have just tried this: Double Strand nest coil for Kayfun - In depth tutorial - YouTube

I think it's pretty hard to find a lousy way to wick these Kayfuns now that I have seen one. I just used doubled up 2mm cotton (making 4mms). Wrapped 4 times with 32 ga kanthal and it hits like a freight train. I know Dust uses silica and I'll probably do the same because it can be dry burned (cotton can't). Some have used eckowool. I don't think you can go wrong any of these ways. Use what you have tnt. I think if oyu can bundle up 4 - 6mms of just about any wick material you'll be OK. Just leave a gap above the air hole when you fasten your wick. I put the surrounding segment on with the wicks stand up straight. I trim to just above the top of the segment them push the wicks to the bottom. Like everything else in vaping there are a million ways to do it and you'll get some people who say their way is the best and there is no other way. :)

My bad, it is not clear my question, in fact I was not talking about the wicks and wires, since there are several ways to build the wicks in different forms, I wonder if there is a optimum build.
Till now I have found:
DSK build: D$K Special 8 Wicklung für den Kayfun - YouTube
Classic build suggested by svoemesto: Svo
Double strand nest coil: Double Strand nest coil for Kayfun - In depth tutorial - YouTube

Dont know if there are others, just looking for the best build.

You'll be switching right back to cotton. I tried silica and it muted flavor like a muv. Try a micro coil with cotton ball. You won't be disappointed.
And I am not saying my way is the best :)~ just that I did the silica route and I couldn't believe the difference in flavor. I just put a quick some kind of 30g micro coil with cotton ball and even though my resistance is too high (2.6) it wicking like a beast and making my juice yummy.

I'll be attempting the microcoil once my 30g gets here. Kinda hard to do it with 32 and not run a crazy high ohm. Maybe I'll attempt cotton then too..

You might be right Smitty. I use silica in my Phoenix (and I have also used cotton) and there is no difference. Will there be a difference to me in the Kayfun? I wont know till I try. I think X uses eckowool in his KF. I'd like the ability to dry burn so I'm still holding that one open.

I use anything in the KF. One has Eko, which has lasted me a month. The others have twisted silica. Both are great. I'm not sure if I want cotton in the KF because should I get an odd dry hit, the wick and flavor are a goner. Can't have that when I'm out, so I stick with silica. For microcoils I don't use anything more resistive than 30 gauge. 28 is better. People are using 24 gauge Nichrome with great success. The goal is higher ohms (>1.6ohms) with as many wraps as possible. Todd put up something for novice micro building. Here...

Xfoo, do you know of anyone who's used ribbon wire with the Kayfun? It might be fun experimenting with that.

I heard a lot of micro coil, but one question stupid, will a cotton coil give burn taste? If cotton is so good why most of people build their coil with silica?

Cotton can't be dry burned, and as XFoo said, if you get even one dry hit, it will burn and pretty much render it useless unless you like vaping burnt juice.. So, on a practical level it's not that advisable to use cotton instead of silica.

I'm giving a microcoil and cotton setup a shot on my Smok octopus.

First thing I noticed is that it'll hold a ton of juice and keep the coil wet... and second, if I do burn it, takes two minutes to swap out the wick. All I need is a cotton ball and it's swapped in no time. The microcoil, my first, is a sturdy little bugger.

So far... a really clean and full flavored vape. Very nice. Kind of digging it.

Really really hoping that my 30gauge and Ekowool get delivered to me today. I've taken the next week off work, and am hoping to play with Microcoils and Ekowool in some of my Gennies and the K-Lite.

Here's status as of this morning: 2013/09/13 05:43 TORONTO Item processed at local delivery facility

Now, I'm hoping to see that status change to, Out for delivery.. * fingers crossed *
