I don't use a safe fuse because they don't allow the sub-ohms I occasionally build. Those fuses are a good safety measure, but I believe they trigger somewhere between 6 and 8 amps. My 0.4 dual coils draw over 10 amps, so a fuse is moot. Knowledge and good batteries are the best thing to prevent hazards. Today's 30 amp bats are a better safety measure than any fuse.
Thank's X that's what I needed to know , filed away for future reference for my first mech .

I use AW IMR batteries as that is what is suggested my the builders of the mods I use. I do have a safe fuse and have used it on a couple of mods. I don't use sub ohm set ups so I'm really not concerned...but do think those that prefer sub ohm setups need to understand the equipment they are working with.

Made a 28ga micro for the KFL. Vaped a half tank and switched back to my 30ga. The 28 wasn't doing it for me. Too light on flavor. I'll mess with it some more but I was dying for a premium vape experience.

I'm kind of feeling the same way..want to try a micro coil when I have time to tinker but when it's so good also don't want to mess it up. I may just hang with what I've got until blizzard season...then I'll have lots of time to just sit and play with different setups:laugh:

What's the saying IA? "If it aint broke don't fix it" :)

Speaking of that, I have my SVD sitting here with a mini vivi nova atop filled with a beta juice Clay has me trying out. That vivi gurgles, belches, spits, oozes, and drips all over the place. I notice it more than ever. I've become so spoiled with this KFL. Still waiting for the first molecule of leakage. :)

The K100/K101.... if you get it from Discount Vapers, they throw in a Kamry safety fuse. $38

That was a good call there Leo...the one I got is AWESOME. Love my K100!!! Thanks! Iowa Gal hooked me up with one and man...I love this little workhorse!

Sounds like some coworkers I have... But my Vivis have never given me problems like that. Not one. Weird!

I thought of something that would make that bad boy even prettier...a sleeve around that screw. Some may like the industrialness of the bare screw threads but I think it clashes slightly (not bad). It appears you gave enough room to slip a sleeve over it. No? And maybe a countersink/counterbore using a beveled head/allen head? Might have to fatten up that collar for a counterbore setup. I can see where one can get carried away with it. :)

How about one like this, Bronze?

I read on the KFL thread that AW does not manufacture batteries. They buy up the best of the best and relabel them. Most of their batteries are actually Pannies. Can anyone confirm this?

This is true, Bronze. Most likely Panny bats relabeled.

I'm assuming an unprotected battery in a regulated mod such as a Provari is actually protected by the device?

What are the applications for a protected battery?

To my knowledge, today's safer chem bats are far better to use than any "protected" ones. Protected batteries were the choice a couple years ago before sub-ohms and high quality mods/attys. Once high drain IMRs came about, there was debate whether protected batteries were of any good use. Regulated mods have their own protection built in and safe chem bats rated above 10amps continuous drain seem to hold up nicely with mechs.

It's a bit outdated, but here's the sticky on battery recommendations. I'm sure there are active discussions on more current technologies elsewhere in the forums.

No, but the name intrigues me enough (I've heard it many times) that I would be interested in hearing more about it. :)

I'm starting to wonder if vaping is getting popular enough to become a driving force in new battery technology in the same way that gaming does for computers . The BM I was at yesterday told me they were getting in batteries rated for a 60 amp burst. 60 amps from an 18650 ? Holy crap! I installed a 24000 btu combo ac/heat in my house a few months ago that pulls 25 amps max. 60 amps out of a handheld device is kinda amazing and frightening at the same time even if the burst is in milliseconds .
