3ohms seems kinda high for twisted 32 with a 5/6 wrap. I would expect you to be around the 2ohm mark. I did a 4/5 wrap on mine with 32 and I ended up with a 1.5ohm coil. Are you sure you're coil ends are secured tightly under the screws? You may be picking up extra ohms from a loose connection.

I'll check those connections, 'cause I thought it was high too. When I first put it on the VAMO it was reading 2.3 - 2.4 ohms.

PS, just checked it again and now it's reading 5 ohm!!! Definitely got look see...

Alright, seems my eyes are worse off than I thought. I didn't have a 6/5 wrap, I had 7/6!!!

I took pics this time and I'll put the link to the album up below. I cleaned it up and took off one wrap made sure everything was making good connections, coil raised up on the deck just enough, no hot spots and now I'm reading 1.8 ohm which is a lot better. I notice, however, that these coils take a bit longer to heat up than a single wrap. Makes sense though since it's twice as thick as before.

Also noticed, and you'll see in the pics, that after almost a whole tank of NET.com's Chris' Blend, it was pretty gunked up. Fortunately, it cleaned up nicely with just a tap water rinse and dry burn.

32G twisted coil 1.8 ohm - a set on Flickr

Glows from the center out nice and even, but takes a bit of time to reach bright red. :)

Marvellous, absolutely Marvellous! Cooking at 4.5 V @ 11.25 W = YUMMY!

Chak, 1.8 ohms is a better number for sure.

One thing I noticed in the pics. You see the little tails that you have coming off the coil, under the screw? Make sure that you tuck them under the screw towards the "inside". Don't leave them turned up towards the chamber/chimney cover because any contact of the coil with that could also mess with your ohm readings. Pretty sure I read or saw that somewhere.

Some NET's sure do wreak havoc with coils and gunking. I had to wash/dryburn my coil yesterday after a tank of Apache from MOV too. It was positively DARK!

Yep, MOV's NETs are really 'dirty'. I have some Virginia Flake RY4 that turns wicks to junk in minutes.

Thicker, lower resistance wire will always take longer to heat up... lower resistance to electrical flow plus more wire to heat.

BUT

The bigger the coil, the better the vape!

I had mentioned to the General a few days ago that MOV's Southern Gentleman had ruined a wick/coil for me in a day. Apache does the same. Hmm.. not good. Not good at all.

Well, a lot of NETs are 'au natural' and not filtered... in the sense that the extract has a lot of solids and other random bits from the macerated tobacco that'll get caught up in the wick and not vaporized. Every drop that gets vaporized leaves the residue behind and it builds up fast, especially on coils that have decent output. I was running cotton wicks in a Smok RDA, and it took less than a day.. lunchtime to night... maybe... I don't know... 40 or so drops' worth... and the cotton was dark brown, almost black and pretty gooed up.

Damn good juice though... Nothing tobacco-y about it, tasted like uncooked yellow cake batter. mmmmm

I guess that is common with NETs... HHV MUST filter their NETs, and they do a pretty good job of it since many places say they won't filter because it ruins the extract.

Good point, dusty. Didn't notice that till you mentioned it - these old eyes ain't what they used to be. I'll tuck that in next time I open it up.

I believe Clay filters his, but maybe not as much as HHV. Read it on his site somewhere.

I rebuilt both of my KFL this morning just because I had time to do it. I used 30g and Nextel....did a 4-5 wrap and one came in at 1.2 ohm the other at 1.4 and they are both fabulous. I'll be sure to check them on my provari again tonight as this is much lower ohm than I normally use and want to be sure they stay there...but nothing better than a fresh setup.

Oh.... OK... I did a very very bad thing... Now, people, don't get upset with me...

I bought a Kayfun 3.1 clone from FT.

Now, before you get upset with me... I couldn't pass up the $21 price tag. To be honest, I'll root for the Yankees (blood, sweat and beards!) before I'd spend that much for an atty (re: full price for auth. Kayfun or Russian...lite and 91% also). I picked up an RSST for $27 a ways back and that was living large for me, as far as vaping gear is concerned. And I'm certainly not dropping over a bill on something that I might go "meh" and decide that it's not all that and a bag of chips. So I'm good with that.

So I think I can live with myself... but, in full disclosure, I wanted to cop to it. :) So when it comes in and I start chiming in on Kayfun builds, postig pics, etc... people will know that I'm ridin' dirty. :)

I buy Dr. Thunder and Twist Up from Walmart instead of Dr. Pepper and Sprite, I bought Fortuna off brand cigarettes, and I thrift store shop...I like your style. You can spend it how you want!

Only $21??? :matrix:

Pretty much... I am kind of breaking the vape buy embargo... Got an interview this Friday that I'm fairly certain will result in an offer with a nice hefty raise. So I decided to throw caution to the wind and pick up another RDA and some o-rings to fix the snapped ones on my V5... whose cap is currently being held in place with a few wraps of thread seal tape around where the o-rings were (which works surprisingly well).

And lo and behold... up popped this little diddy for a measly $21. Now, at that price, it was worth a flyer. If it sucks, caveat emptor and I am out $21, not a big deal. If it works, then 'yea me'.

On another note... man... my gunmetal Vamo V3 is really starting to go all Mad Max now... the finish is taking a beating, but with the spirals, the little Sand People face with the buttons....it's looking bad-.... I'll post a pic at some point. :)

I've been thinkin about FT. First Bronze, now you. Also my son called me. Him and his wife are now vaping. He tried it a couple years ago and didn't like it. Think He desided to try again after I told him I was. Anyway he just ordered a Vamo V5 from FT. Well If I do deside to order something I'm not going to order just one item.:)
