I've been reading elsewhere that kayfun clones (not The Russian) are having issues with rust forming on the screws, positive post, and deck. Apparently QC in China doesn't care about using food grade stainless steel for all their parts which come in contact with juice. I can't speak from personal experience, as I don't own any of the said clones. I don't know, but rather assume, that the suspect devices are the ones available on FT. Be advised.

I just saw a photo of one that was seriously rusted. Also talked to someone that spotted rust on his Russian. He's in Cali which u hear water is harsh.

I saw that photo too. I'm not so sure about it. Almost anything will rust if left in water long enough. The way the rust on that photo had run all over the atty looks like it was just put in water to soak and then forgot about. Especially since the screw for the air control was so rusted. That shouldn't even be in contact with juice. I think someone left their atty in water and forgot about it. I would put money on the fact that the screws on the Russian and kayfun would do the same thing.

Yeah no doubt. It seems a little extreme. Looks like it was left in the rain for a month or 2. People should inspect all their gear regardless. And clean it well. I meticulously inspect everything I get.

Makes me wonder if it is a Russian.

Tell you what folks, we are rather powerless in many of these purchasing decisions. These vendors can say anything they want about their products and they could be (and often are) lying to our faces.

Be skeptical of the isolated reports... It could be systemic, but it might just be the result of gross negligence on the part of the user. Even the highest quality product will suffer if treated like dog crap.

But.. worst case scenario is that they cheesed out on the metal and it starts to rush right away. If that happens, I only lost $21 on a bet that it would be of decent quality. Now... if someone paid $100 for something that went the whole 'ashes to ashes' route, well, THEN I'd be ripping.

A good grade of SS will not rust.

Yeah the dude that eons the Russian is very experienced. He notice some on the inner threads. He was quite shocked to see it. But it don't mean anything really. It coulda been there to begin with who knows. It's looked like when you have old silverware that's has water/rust spots on them almost.

This is the photo I saw. The way the rest ran out of the air hole and the air adjustment screw is all rusted tells me that the atty was left submersed or left out in the rain or something. No way will I ever believe that was caused by propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin. And there is no stainless steel in the world that is 100% rust proof, not that I have ever been able to locate anyway

If left alone, but there are several chemicals, like in some antibacterial wipes, that can do a number on it. Context, context... :) it might just be crap metal, it might not.
If the screws aren't stainless they can react with the steel and start rusting , I read an article in guns and ammo where they placed a stainless S&W on the bottom of a swimming pool and the gun came up with a light coating of rust that started with the nonstainless parts in the gun . Leo the only complaint that I have with the FT KFC is the post screws are crap the heads are too small and they're too soft , as soon as I find out what size they are I'm going to replace them with titanium screws from a hobby supply if possible if not I'll use stainless from the same source , other than the screws it's been perfect

And it has to be said that the FT prices are significantly less than genuine. Price is always the great equalizer. It just depends on each person and their situation. I spent $1,000 on an MTD lawn tractor instead of $5,000 on a John Deere (that's what they were back in 1995). Here it is 18 years later and I still have that MTD lawn tractor. I could have bought five of them for the price of one John Deere. I'd say I made out pretty good in this case. :)

Yeah you did come out on top with that and I think I did too for 21 bucks if the screws are the only weak point but I feel bad for RJ after waiting as long as we did for that clone and getting mine in good shape I really hate to see her disappointed , right now she's too tired and aggravated to deal with it but for all intents and purposes this is a 1 to 1 clone and it vapes the same as the original according to reviews by people that have both so you already know the flavor this thing puts out and I hate to see her give up on it because of a missing part . I ordered parts for my troybilt weedeater directly from troybilt and sure as hell they sent me the wrong parts I had to go to an aftermarket parts supply to get the right ones I hope she don't give up because of a screw up.
