Subohming tends to be too hot for me. I like cool vapes. I know dual coiling would help with that but at some point it gets ridiculous farting around with all these setups. I'm using silica on a 2.0 ohm coil on the Provari and it rocks my world. I've tried a myriad of other setups and get no additional benefits. Just me. I used to like monkeying with stuff. Now I just want crap to work and don't get into the screwing around as much.

I hear that. Get it to where you want it & maybe try a tweak here n there along the way. Ever since I started twisting this coil I just make another one long before I actually need it. I just changed coils yesterday & I already have one formed, hanging out on the drill bit in my pencil tray. I do like the cotton wicks though. I don't try to make them exactly the same (using cotton balls) but I know about how much I need & just go for it. The margin of error is plenty big enough that they turn out fine.

Cotton wicks have their advantages. I use them in my little rba's. I vape lots of gunky NETs and they trash wicks quickly. Changing out the cotton is a snap. No need to rinse or anything. A quick dryburn of the coil and it's like new.

Looks like pretty country there Oz. You fish the lakes and streams there?

When I can. That's taken at a lake about an hour or so from here, just outside of Yellowstone. I'm actually in better fishing territory, about a 2 minute walk away from the Gallatin. If you've ever seen A River Runs Through It, a lot of the river scenes were filmed a few miles upstream from me (even though the movie takes place over by Missoula, all the blue ribbon trout fishing is over this way). Didn't get out last summer at all, I work too much & I bought a 100 year old house in June... I love it, but there's plenty to do. :) Next summer for certain. I still don't get out enough to bother tying my own, but there's a ton of old timers making some beautiful flies, so they're not exactly in short supply or anything.

Quake Lake? Hebgen Lake?

The Gallatin is a beautiful river and the road heading up the river to Bozeman is a great motorcycle road except for all the durn critters. Almost hit a moose north of Big Sky last August. Thankfully I have monster aux lights that saved my bacon.

OO? outrageously overpriced?

Haha OOS = out of stock. Fasttech Has em but let's be real. I'm not ordering 2 magnets from ft by themselves. It'll be 6 months before they get found behind the wheel well or something. My nemi is already gonna take 2 months to get here.

It's a hidden lake that mostly only the locals know about, but it's really close to Quake - you may have heard of it, being from Idaho, but I don't talk about it. I saw some California plates up there the last time I was there. Such a shame. Just think white sand. And keep it a secret if you know ;)

I haven't pulled my bike out in years either. Running the canyon would be a fun ride... although I'm used to running it this time of the year when you have to watch out for the giant sheep. You'd rather hit a moose holding a boulder than the big horn in that canyon.

They sell them in 10-packs. Use two, chuck the rest. LOL!

God I hate fasttech. I still haven't received my KFLClone. Ordered 12/14, apparently hit the US on Christmas Day (it won't say where), still not here. Them and Singapore Post are terrible. I know I saved a ton of money, but I'm angry now. I feel like I don't even want to both with the stupid thing at this point.

All things considered, your order hit the US in 8 business days. Since then it's in USPS' hand, and Sing Post or FastTech have nothing to do with it. A little mis-directed anger methinks..

Whenever I order from FT I automatically assume a 1 months delivery time... if it gets here quicker, then its a nice suprize... ( pessimistacally optomistic)

I guess I got spoiled by my first two shipments from them, they both arrived in about 15 days. Just frustrated. I see all your KF talk and I've been jealous for months :(

It's gonna be that much better when it finally gets there :)

I had one major problem with my KFL+... which actually turned into 2 problems. The first one happened shortly after I got it. I made a coil, wicked it & took a few vapes off from it. Then the problem happened. I just had to have a 2nd one. The second problem was created by the first. The real ones go out of stock rather quickly.

(coming back up to speed on the thread)

28 vs 32... I typically run microcoils in my stuff, and a 10 wrap (~1.2 ohm) with 28 gauge is some durable stuff. That wire is (relatively) thick and holds up for a long, long time through dozens of cleanings and dry burnings.. pulling puffy, saturated wicks, you name it. The 32 was a little more finicky when it came to micros and the couple I made were a little on the fragile side; I had one pull apart when I removed the cotton (which, consequently, became my last 32g microcoil). Being thicker and lower resistance than 32, 28 takes a little longer to get going, but the bigger coil does do a great job in pumping out vapor.

But the real limiting factor is my gear. I like to vape 10-12w in my RDAs and I have a Vamo V3 and a K100 mech. I know, after spending a little bit with a MM and testing things out, that on a single battery, my Vamo tops out at about 4.5v.. it just can't boost the voltage past that. So that means that if I want to get to 12w, I really can't go much above 1.6ohms... which you really can't do with a 32g coil as you would have a really tiny, extremely hot coil that would burn as much as vaporize. And on the mech, you are looking at 8w max if you have a 32g coil (I'll spare you the numbers). Combine that with my belief that the more wraps the better.... the low resistance of the 28g makes it a perfect choice for what I have.

KFC air flow.... To me, even with the air screw removed completely, it's a tighter than I'd like. My trident clone (at the 2mm hole) and the nimbus (dual coil, with drilled out holes) are much more airy...a I've grown to prefer the airy draw. I have a single coil IGO-L that is at 1.5mm, and it'll be getting bored out in the next day or two... I just started using it again and it's a bit too tight, even at 1.5mm.

I'm lucky to have had just 3 of these "problems". I've heard of folks that are up to 7 and 8 "problems". I don't know what they do with themselves.. :D
