I don't think my brain and fingers are in contact this morning, 13/64ths would be a little bit BIG.. :D

I just went to the local hardware store and grabbed a 5/64th. I just grabbed some of that ekowool because its what comes with the KFC and the place I ordered from had it. So I figured I would just get a little bit of it (and wire) from there so I knew I had some to mess around with while waiting for other stuff to come.

Your build sounds nearly identical to the one I have been watching a few times on youtube and was going to try. Only thing they did different was they didnt use a drill bit, they just wrapped it around the silica/ekowool. I was curious if you could use the drill bit then slide it through as I think (from making bigger coils) that it was always easier to wrap around something hard than something limber.

If this all works out and I like the rebuildable stuff (everyone says there is no way I wont, but heard the same thing about the cartotank that I hate :D), I have plans to get a dripper or two. I have a bunch of juice that I like in very small doses and its kind of a hassle putting a little bit into a tank, then going through the cleaning process just to do it all again in a couple hours, or have clearo's filled for those random times. :D

Thanks for all the information, I am looking foreword to the first build.............Now all I need is FedEx to cooperate and deliver it!!!!

Yes, make your microcoil first. After you wrap it around the drill bit (it really doesn't matter what you use....the ID is the important dimension....some people use toothpicks or whatever they have laying around...5/64ths bit is easy cuz it is 2.0mm....some use 1/16th) then hook up your coil to your kayfun base (you can keep it on your drill bit while you do this and remove bit once you have it screwed down). Then you'll want to fire it up and get it glowing. Release the fire button and squeeze with tweezers (or similar). Repeat a few times so all the coils are next to each other and nice and pretty. Then you can pull the cotton or silica through the coil. Not sure about ekowool cuz I never used it. Dust has so maybe he can give you a pointer there. Too thick wick and the coil will pinch it off and it wont wick...you'll get dry hits (burnt).

I also have a bunch of RBA drippers for the reason you mention. They are very simple and easy to change out the wick or dry burn or whatever. I use Phoenix RBA's. Very simple devices. Easy to build. Great flavor, TH, and vapor. Holds 12 - 15 drops. Ask 100 people the best dripping RBA and you will get 100 different answers. This is what works for me for the juices I don't vape all day.

Nah , I nevef said anything about liking a cartotank but I'll stick my neck out on this same as the Aspire , you don't have to constantly mess with it if you don't want to especially with silica wicks , Bunnykiller likes to tinker so he's constantly trying different builds on his RSST and he'll do the same thing with his KFC once he gets it but once I get things to my liking I leave it alone till I have to other than cleaning and dryburning , mine hasn't leaked a drop or gurgled unless I get a little juice down the chimney when refilling but even then it quickly clears itself , it's definitely good for out and about .

Thanks, its finally arrived. I got everything washed up and drying as I type this. Coil building to commence shortly.

Yeah I wasn't referring to you as one of the cartotank people. Actually no one that posts here, its just the masses throughout ECF made it seem like the be all end all. It sure wasnt for me. I am not sure how much of a tinkerer I will be, once I get something that works, I am usually pretty dead set on not changing it.

WooHoo! Let us know how it goes Dreamer.

    I am a believer!!!!!

    WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The coil build wasn't hard at all, I just took my time and slowly went at it. It came out a little higher than what your getting Bronze, but I am in the neighborhood. I got 2.3ohm, I might have had one extra wrap, as I had 10/11 for wraps. It heated very even from the center out once I got it all tight, and it took minimal effort to get it that way. I however cut my wick to 1" instead of 23mm, couldn't find my metric rule and 1" is super close (a little big) so I went with it. Wet the wicks with a few drops of Dragon's Fire, assembled everything, filled it up and WOW what a first hit!!!

I may have to drop my nic level!!! I have only taken a few hits so far and I got a nic buzz going and I am only using 18mg, I normally use 24mg.

I am not getting much throat hit with it, but I did leave the coil what I thought was a little high as I was a little hesitant to go to low on the first build. If I understand it right, the close it is to the air-hole the more throat hit?
I just cant get over the taste, I am in amazement.

Thanks everyone for all the help and tips, and just plain talking about it in general, because without you guys this would not have happened!!!

I really wanted to put Legend or Huntsman in it, but I already have half a Aspire tank full of each of them, and didnt want 2 of the same going. You dont know how hard it was NOT doing it.

I know exactly what you mean about getting more, I am only 1hr into it and already planning on getting more, I was thinking a 3.1 clone and a real Kayfun Lite Plus, plus a couple drippers.

I still have not got any Heavenly Army, Heavenly Tobacco, or Caramel Apple Tobacco, all 3 I really want to try.

I guess the cartotank is going in the vape museum with my protanks LOL .

You got that right!! This thing blows that cartotank out of the water!!! Heck I had this thing tore apart, washed, dryed, coil built and vaping long before the time it took me to get that cartotank functioning!!!

Yep, gather up all your other gear and toss it in the bone box.

Way to go Dreamer! That Dragon's Fire really lights up in a Kayfun. try moving the coil a little closer to the airhole and see what it does for you. Do you have an air control on that thing? I get plenty of throat hit w/18mg on my KFL. How'd you string your ekowool through the coil?

The EASIEST way to compress those coils is to use a small culinary torch (if you have one) or one of those small, light duty butane torches.... Even one of those 'wind proof' butane lighters (basically a mini torch). I just squeeze the coil with some needle nose pliers and blast the thing until it's bright and just keep the heat on it for a few seconds. Let it cool.... PRESTO!

    Makes for extremely durable coils....

still waiting for my KFC... ...?!? heh.... No worries... I'm happy vaping what I got... In fact, I am probably going to snag another K100 and throw a kicked 18500 in it for the KFC. Set it at 11 or 12w then forget about it.

That works too Leo. I do it both ways and it's six of one, half dozen of the other.

retic, SlowTech finally got back to me. They were apologetic about my SVD malfunctioning and said they would gladly let me exchange it (postage paid) if that's what I wanted to do. Don't know of any alternative. But anyway, I wrote back and said yes I wanted to exchange and please provide instructions. Haven't heard back yet but at least I got it logged. So I figger I should get this process over with by 2015 or 2016. :)

It definitely does light up in a kayfun , I'm getting nuances of flavors that I never got before , I can finally taste the tobacco in DF now before the KFC the white wine taste overpowered everything else but the sweetness .
