Little bit of vape mail today from fb buy. Great price for Bella tanks which I always wanted when I was using cartos exclusively.
Cartos > clearos....

Haven't been here for awhile but came across something PBusardo will be doing a review on. These could change things. Saw a couple other reviews but they weren't done very well. I'll wait for PB. They've only done a presale but here's a look.

VAPIN DONUTS

:pop: waiting for review..

Wrapping coils for someone else. 11 wraps of 28g Kanthal A-1 around a 3/32 drill bit is putting me at 2.0 ohms.
10 down, 20 more to go.... (have thrown away four. I guess I'm picky like that when it's for someone)

Im the same way, if Im sending them out for someone else to use they have to be perfect.

Sounds about right, Papaw! :)

What's your process? Are you torching the wire before wrapping? Are you squeezing the coil in tweezers and torching again?

How long do these durn microcoils last anyways? I don't think I have built a new 28g coil for my KFLs in 2 months? I just pull out the wick, rinse and dry burn the coils to pretty orange, blow on it and then brush clean, rewick, and go.

Kinda creeps me out that they don't seem to wear out.

Oh and I don't pre-torch my wire before coiling and yes I heat up the coil and squeeze with tweezers, to answer Dusty's question.

On a REOS I always install, do an extended (5 second) Ohms test, Fire until red 3 times, squeeze with tweezers, do another Ohms test. If it holds a steady reading (to avoid shorts :glare:) then I wick with cotton. Never pre-torch. Would rather loose 20 cents of Kanthal than a REOS.
Made 30 coils, all testing a steady 2.0 ohms. Threw eight away. Will 'Swap and Trade' those coils and 20 cartos for a used REOS mini 14500 and a RM2. The Original Mini's are loosing popularity to the Mini 18490 and the upcoming Woodvil Sale, but I like using two mini's for 'at work' mods.

My current coil is at least three months old. I vape about 3 - 4 mls/day from it too. Clean as you describe. Kanthal wire is durable. It's the same stuff you see glowing in space heaters. Lasts a good long while.

For those of you using cotton wicks with your Kayfuns and microcoils, how often do you re-wick?

I've been using the same wick for almost a week I think, and it's still vaping great. I've got some Pirates Booty in the HCigar Kayfun 3.1 and figure I won't re-wick until I'm ready to change to some other juice.

Y'know, I'm starting to believe that your taste buds are shot! :)

I've had Huntsman with a cotton wick last a week but I would have expected PB to gunk up and go off flavor sooner than a week. As long as you're not getting any burnt or off taste, no reason to change it.

If it still tastes great then stay with it. HHV juices are clean. The nasty NETs most people change after one tank. But HHV NETs are far from nasty. I suspect you could get 2 - 3 tanks. I use silica and I clean and dry burn after three tanks.

Pappy, I use RM2's, not KayFun style RBA's. But I do change flavors after almost every bottle, 3ml in Mini's and 6ml in VV Grand. I change the cotton wicking with each flavor. I also change my coils about once every two weeks, but that's more a precautionary measure on my part. As a Trucker, the last thing I want is a coil failure when I'm 500 miles away. But that's just me...

You still using doubled up 2mm silica in a 2mm coil General?

I use two strands of 1mm that double up when I fishtape it through the coil (4 strands when done). Goes through very tightly but doesn't impede wicking. I actually hang a fingernail on the exiting side of the coil to hold it in place while fishtaping. Otherwise I would yank the coil clean off the terminals.

And, you buy your juices in 70/30 ratio? Curious as to how a 4mm wick does not restrict wicking in a 2mm coil, specially seeing how the 4mm would expand even more when soaked with juice.
