What kind of coil are you making ? If it's an rba, might I suggest the 'Micro-Coil for rba' thread in the REOS section. I'm currently vaping on a twelve wrap w/ 29 gauge that meters 1.9 ohms. Slide some embroidery thread (100% cotton) and slap that Hornet onto a VVGrand filled with Legend ! Sweeeeet ! :vapor:

Mesh coils.
Regular coils i can handle.
I just found an old package someone sent me months ago which had pre-oxidized mesh wicks :)
2 for the aga and 2 for the child so now i just need practice.
I really wish i could remember who sent them but I erased all my PMs a few weeks back.

TEMCo Industrial Power Supply. I got 25ft of 29gauge for $2.80. Can get 100ft for about $8. shipping about $2.40

They have whatever thickness or length you want. Just check to make sure you're actually ordering A1 as they also carry A4.

Nice! They have .9mm ribbon wire too. Can't find anything wider than .8 on eBay and all that's from Germany.

EDIT: Ugh. Ribbon wire not shipping until July 12th.

EDIT #2: Ordered 100ft of 0.9mm Kanthal ribbon wire anyway. It will be a nice surprise. At 25 bucks, that's hard to beat. Everyone's hording the ribbon wire these days. Kidney Puncher charges $6/10ft of 0.8mm wire.

XfooYen, what is the advantage of using ribbon wire over regular round wire?
and how is .9mm better than .8mm?

Ribbon wire is flat, giving more surface contact between the coil and wick. That makes for more efficient vaping and fuller flavor.

With round wire, I use 28 gauge. 0.8mm ribbon is a tiny bit more resistive than 28AWG. 0.9mm is a tiny bit less resistive than 28AWG. Both are close but I like sub-ohm vaping so I went with the least resistive wire available in ribbon. I have some 0.8mm and it's great. I also have some 0.5mm which is equivalent to 32AWG. That's good for building standard res coils for vv genesis setups or even RDAs.

All my genesis tanks now use steel 3/32 cable as a wick, 1/8" braided silica sleeving around the top wrapped with 0.8mm ribbon wire. Zero tilting. Zero hot spots or shorts. Zero dry hits. Easiest setup to coil. The vapor is so moist it's just fantastic. It wicks so fast, if you tilt it, it actually floods the coil.

I see thanks. Oh, btw - where did you get your silica sleeving from. Last time I went to Kidney Punch I looking for mesh, they had 1/8' sleeving and I think 1/16" too, for about $6 a foot!!! Yikes! However, they were sold out then. And is that cable 7x7, or 7x19?

haha, you probably need a 360˚ rotating knuckle head drip tip with that setup. ;)

7x7 cable is the easiest to find and is proving to wick better than the 7x19. I use 7x7. Totally sufficient. I bought the sleeving from Kidney Puncher. It's expensive, but I just bought a foot of each size to test them. The 116 was too narrow to fit the 3/32 cable but works nicely on thinner rolled mesh wicks. The 118 is good on 3/32 cable. I haven't tried it on 1/8 cable because I don't use any but I suspect it would fit fine if not snugly. The ends fray after cutting it so I recommend wetting the sleeving first, then cutting. Each wick uses less than a cm of sleeving, so a foot should last a while. Omega sells braided 1/8 silica and braided 1/8 ceramic sleeving. About half the cost of vape suppliers.

I had a knucklehead DT a while back. Wasn't my thing. If I remember correctly, I may have sent it off to MrPicC. I'm just careful not to tilt it too much for too long. It's not as sensitive as I made it out to be. It does wick very fast, tho.

I use a dremel to cut my cable. Just remember to use some electrical tape or vice grips or something to hold the end where you're cutting so the strands of cable don't unravel and fall off

Also make sure there's no internal nylon thread. Some cable contains a thin piece of nylon in its center. You need to unravel a small piece to investigate. The nylon can be torched or manually removed. The manual removal requires unwinding and rewinding the cable. Check out the Wire Rope for Wick thread for details.

So, tape up the section I'm cutting and cut through the tape and wire? I've seen the posts about the internal thread of nylon, but don't know what I'm getting. I do have that information cataloged though. ;)

Yes. If not when you start cutting through the sections of cable it will start to unravel on you. If you have a nice pair of cable cutters like xfoo said then you will not need the tape. Just snip right through it.

Trying out all kinds of new stuff is half the fun. :)

But I have to say when I got my Kayfun and Ithaka I lost interest in genesis atomizers completely.

I have a kayfun clone coming. Haven't tried that style yet. My reomizer is by far my favorite rebuildable right now though

I swear I have a couple of shelves full of "vintage" vape gear.. AGA's, Vivi's, BCC Megas, DID's, T3's, DCT's...Then there's the containers with the cartos. Boges, Smoktech, single coil, dual coil, top coil, bottom coil, mega, mini. Unused ego batts and mods that I bought along the way..

Yeah, the quest continues.. ;)

I've gotta say, though. Some juices just belong in certain setups. I think the Ody (and similar silica fed devices) are fantastic with tobacco vapes. The genny's do better for me with the fruity stuff. It's hit and miss really, but my point is, there are some juices which don't work in a genny and taste great in an Ody. The reverse is also true. Options are the best thing to have. You'll pick up that genny after not using it for a while and fall in love all over again. I have three different devices in front of me usually.

I was thinking the exact same thing. What's next? Juice pumps sitting on top of the coil? Blow torches mounted on the inside of the tank?

Sir, yes sir!
