ATTENTION VAMO WAVERS

If you remember the mod I did for my Vamo a couple of months ago, there is an ECF member in Belgium who has started making and selling them from his site. You can buy the mod already set up or just the parts if you already own a Vamo and want to mod it. The whole mod (Vamo included) costs around $85. The mod kit (without the Vamo) cost about $47 shipped to the US. That beats the $90 it cost for me to have it made here! You can read the thread here. The order page for the Vamo-S mod and the Vamo-S mod parts are in Dutch so use Chrome Browser and it will translate it for you. I have one on the way for my other Vamo. They are making batches weekly. I love my modded Vamo like this. 18650 battery at 3" tall with a sturdy base.

Found a local company that does Wire rope. Ordered in 25 ft of 7x7 316 SS in 1/8" and 10 ft in 3/32".

Why would you need so much, D? A couple of feet would last a lifetime. The cable can be cleaned and burned over and over for ages. I haven't changed out a wick in a month and it's still like new.

Hey Congrats are in order. Nice job X. Good to see the fruits of your labor come to market.

Well, I neither designed it nor marketed the idea. The designer open sourced his mod and I had one made and modded it myself. Someone else with the resources is providing the same exact design (with credit to the original creator) at an affordable price. He will surely be back ordered soon as I think he's the only one offering these retail. They are half the cost I paid to my machinist and they come with rods and a pre-soldered connector. Not a bad deal.

You're still alright by me, X. :)

I read that guys thread a few days ago, very friendly translation into English. It was still in prototype at the time, nice to see it's ready to go. I didn't know he would include the Vamo as well. Thanks for the update!

WOW, that's cool! If I didn't just make two orders one for juices and the other for gears accessories, I'd be on that in a heartbeat!!!

Hope he's not too backed up by the 25th of next month - payday! Probably, never get that Provari at this rate!!!

EDIT: Just put my name on the pre-order list for this. Ordered a Chrome VAMO S Golden with a Harley Davison skin. That thing looks soooo BAD!!! :headbang:

I'm far from knowing what to do with wire rope, but I find this interesting. That's too advanced for me, I'm still a noob, obviously.

I am going to order 100 or more feet of Kanthal this weekend, but I would get 1000ft if I knew what to do with it. I would sell some in the classifieds if I understood the rules better regarding re-selling or making a profit when splitting an item that was bought in bulk. Time to bug a Moderator.

Classifieds rules state you cannot list a product at more than 20% of it's retail value. Plus something like Kanthal is so readily available now, I don't know how much of a market there would be for it. I got a 200ft roll of 32 gauge that should probably last me 20 years if I'm careless with it.

Wire rope should be arriving tomorrow hopefully. Anything special I need to know about it? I'll probably be rebuilding the DID's & AGA-T+ with it.

Tips and Tricks.. go!

I think one of the problems I had with mine is that I didn't build up a thick enough layer of carbon (by burning juice) on the mesh where the coil is. Kept getting hot spots near positive connection of my AGA-T2.

Make sure you torch it several times to ensure all the machine oil is burned off and any nylon core is burned out too. After you get the coil working right, it'll take maybe 1/2 a tank or more to initiate/break-in the cable.

Did you get the 1/8 or 3/32, Chak? Sorry, I can't remember. Is the wicking all that it's made out to be, or is it a bunch of hype?

I plan on torching, then washing, then torching again before I use it. Should be enough right?
