Throw in on your ZNA and lay the wood to it. See what happens.

Yeah, gonna do that. I think I had the math wrong. I may need twice as many wraps, which means twice as much wire to heat up. Damn! I don't think this will be feasible.. with such low gauge wire.

Lots of people make 4 or 5 wraps at 26 gauge. Gets to a point you can run them on mechs only.

Dust, I'm hittin' the sack but let me know what you find on your 26 gauge experimenting. OK?

Try pulling one of the coils and go single and mess with that too.

I pulled those coils out. Going with something in the .8 ohm range but with 3/32. Enough of that experiment. :)

LOL!

Lemme know what you do. I'd like to hear about your adventures. We'll learn together. I have a Veritas coming in the next couple of days so I'll have two drippers I can mess with.

Total fail.. way too long to heat up, and results are paltry compared to the single 26g coil on a mech. Yes, at 50 - 75W, I'm sure this thing would sing, but it's not how I roll.

I'll stick to .8 - 1ohm singles with 26, and if I want a dual, I'll go with 28 or 30g for the build.

Good night folks!

I fear my 2+ year old VAMO is not going to last much longer and I'm looking for a reliable, yet inexpensive regulated mod to use as second fiddle to the Provari. I know Bronze, Retic and BK will back the iTaste SVD, but after reading the thread (trying to read actually, damn browser is acting up on me lately) and the talk of the ZNA clone and VAMO v5 I'm wondering which would be the best bet for a reliable backup.

I know asking 10 different peeps here will generate 10 different answers, but would still like to hear opinions from the gallery.

I'm not much interested in going sub-ohm if the mod has the power to heat up standard or high resistance coils fast. Most my vaping is done at 1.3 to 2.0 ohm from 7 to 9 watts. I do have a 1.1ohm setup on the Panzer/Magma and it's working fine. I don't see any reason to go lower aside from an experimental point. The last day or so I've been running a dual 30g, 1.3ohm in the Big Buddha on the Panzer - on a fresh battery, it's putting out nice dense plume of vapor with flavor on par if not slightly fuller than the KayFun lites I have. The vapor and flavor started to drop when the battery got to around 3.6 volts - 3-4 hours on 18650 1600mAh AW bats. All in all, I'm quite pleased with the Big Bud's performance. I must have put at least 8ml of Heavenly Tobacco in there the night before last and this morning the coils/wicks are still holding up well with the juice level half way down the chamber wall. I'm wondering if I can run it dry by the end of the day - it doesn't go out with me, but while sitting here, my hand reaches for it before any other device. That could be just fascination with a new toy, though. Can't get over the heft of the thing - with the BigBud on deck it's weighing in at 600 gm! Maybe I should take it out and about as a backup to the Gerber. ;)

Chakris...

As little as I've had the A-Mod ZNA clone... I'm pretty happy with it so far. It certainly beats the Vamo v5 hands down in my book... but so does the Vamo 30w I got earlier but wasn't to satisfied with because of power issues over 20w on lower ohm coils ( ie below 2.4Ω )

I typically vaped my ADV juice at about 6-7w on the Vamo v2 and v5. On both of the DNA clones ( A-Mod and Vamo style )... I can take that up to about 8.5-9.5w without it starting to taste burnt as it would on the v2 and v5. The difference is from the type of voltage output... the older regulated mods are using PWM and the DNA's are pure DC. The vape is much smoother ( not talking about harshness ) and fuller flavored.

The difference between the Vamo and ZNA DNA clones is enough to ignore the Vamo styled one.

The weight of a Vamo v5 in stainless ( empty and no atomizer ) is 122g, the Vamo 30w is 177g and the A-Mod is 155g ( although the first two were 18650 mode and the A-Mod is in 18490 ). The A-Mod is 90mm tall. A Vision 1300mah Spinner is 110mm tall and the Vamo's ( all ) are just shy of 140mm.

I'd recommend any of the good DNA clones ( the Vamo 30w isn't the best ) over anything with less wattage/amp output. Choose on your needs of course... size, shape and weight etc. I'm not recommending based on what watts they put out... but because of the quality of the output even at the lower settings.

Thanks, rdsok. Still have to wait till tomorrow for my card to go active online. I'll do some research tonight and see what we can see. I like the styling of the ZNA's over the SVD & VAMO, just wondering about it's performance. It'd have to be the clone, as the budget won't allow for the real McCoy just yet.

If you want the info also... I'll be happy to pass it on to anyone... but HHV ( the forum area we're in ) also carries hardware so I thought it would be rude to post it here

Adam's given us the go-ahead to chatter about anything we want. So, it's pre-approved. ;)

Ok then... the following has links for the international site... they also have warehouses in the USA and Germany which could save a little ship time for people living in those countries...

I got my A-Mod ZNA clone from Focalecig $73.59 ZNA 30 Style VV/VW mod - Silver

If you also want a 18650 tube here is the silver one $16.03 Wotofo 18650 Tube for ZNA 30 Style MOD - Silver ... and here is a black one $16.15 Wotofo 18650 Tube for ZNA 30 Style MOD - Black

Make certain to use good high drain batteries. The video I saw mentioned or implied that some flat top 18500 didn't work... they didn't give details... most other button or flat tops should be ok. Since I know my AW 18490 1100mah work fine and have an output of 16a... set that as a minimum amp output for your batteries. I had to adjust the inside screws etc to get my battery to fire the device. If you are buying new batteries... don't skimp and purchase only from a known reputable vendor ( not FT, not eBay or not Amazon etc )

It's also available from DiscountVapers but I'm uncertain if they ship overseas and it's also over $20 USD higher.

Chak, just keep in mind DNA's wont go lower than 7w. You're right on the edge. I like vaping cool so I'll drop to 6.5w frequently. I wouldn't be able to do that on a DNA...though living with 7w is no big deal.

I do enjoy looking at the DNAs though. That Vapor Shark has caught my eye. Love the small profile. And it has some heft to it (weighs more than a Hana while being much smaller). Only thing I don't like is the integrated battery..and it's only 1100 mah (maybe 1200). You can send it in for a battery replacement and it costs like $20 or something. But still, I prefer to control my own batteries so they can be swapped out and continue vaping without waiting for it to charge. They should make it 18490 compatible. But dang, what a nice little DNA!
