I remember all TOO clearly Chel's admonitions to be VERY careful, just changing out or cleaning the buttons. I seem to recall that every email ended with "GOOD LUCK!"

Yea, well, I'm convinced he said that to keep people from breaking it open and seeing what a train-wreck the interior design is.

Your instructions are very nice indeed. I went for a simplified version. Start at the bottom of the device, work your way up, and you will eventually run into the plate soz you can fix it. Works like a charm! Here is brief pictorial:D

Hold that thought (@DancingHeretik , please stay with me).

BRAVEHEART, YOU! There is not a chance in hellsbells that I would EVER take this thing apart!! You have courage on top of courage!!

"You" were? Well then, "I" would have to say that "You" did an excellent job!

Possibly, but....

I know you're great with stuff like this, @Jim-, but it's overkill and unnecessary for the average vaper. Since they're hermetically sealed one only needs to remove the plate from the top, clean everything, then place it back together (exposing no interior).

Keeping in mind that there has been but ONE report of an Xvo firing on its own, and that was by someone who admittedly had taken it apart when he first got it. It has long been my belief that he did something incorrectly when reassembling, and broke the hermetic seal. The result was an interior full of burnt & dried juice, causing the device to fire unsolicited.

I just don't see any value in complicating a very simple & quick cleaning process.

But if someone chooses to take that route, I can only quote Chels (as Kat already has) when I say, "Good luck!"

Well meh! That there is the problem with the interwebsz! Folks can't hear my maniacal cackles and the dripping sarcasm attached to me post. Should have put a disclaimer in... **The Following is a JOKE and for adult entertainment purposes only. If you actually take apart the entire mod to clean the 510 plate, please seek out a mental health professional immediately! **

P.S. If you ever see the word "Simple" mentioned in any given post penned by yours truly, rest assured whatever I am referencing is anything but simple.

Oh, I should mention for those that would not know, my plate was welded in place with gobs of gods-know-what-goo along with a bent and wedged into place grub screw. It was not coming off unless I opened the chassis up. As to the seal, it had been broken by a previous owner so the damage was already done on that aspect unfortunately.

Ok. The biggest concern was wires. So, that's a relief.

@Katdarling
Here's a pic of all my Knights and my XVO clone for comparison. The plates look alike to me.

Where is your massively intriguing pictorial? Oh, nevermind. That's what DP's link was to. Very cool! Or should I say massively intriguing?

Pretty sure one of those has my fingerprints on it...hope it's working well.

I just read FT opened a vender thread on ECF and ECF as a discount code for 5% off. I haven't tested it yet.

Never found that myself despite multiple searches. They may have paid for it & offered the code but neglected to open this thread as they had no one capable to maintain it.

Looked interesting until he said it was a DNA40, they must be giving those boards away now with DNA60's and DNA75's available. I do enjoy his videos, "A bloody good Vape"!
There's also a dicodes version for a mere $300.
