I prefer an SBS to be as small and compact as possible, but I'm an MTL vaper, large mods do not appeal to me anymore, and I feel that the 18650 is optimal for me.
What I wish all mod manufacturers did was to state the distance from the 510 base to the top of the mod.

Every point, me too. The "drop" is a very valuable piece of info for me too. I want them side-by-side, not "protruding" (if possible). "Variable" is also essential for me. As small & light as possible, without sacrificing quality, and VV or VW (couldn't care which).

I like the "V". :nun:

As I took several years off from vaping I hadn't heard of the Juppi. Looking it up and noting that it's still available, it appears very much like today's SBS units except that it might be a bit heavier. From the pictures though I can't tell where the trigger is. Could you please let me know? Other than the ability to handle larger tanks are today's units any better?

Its at the Top on the Side.

At the time, I had it on my Short Watch List. But went with the Tesla Stealth(s) instead.

Soundin jes' like Ol' Jai Haze rit thar Mr. Longo Sir :D

That was the primary Reason why I gravitated toward the Horizon in my initial Research & Ranking.
I am normally very "Symmetrical" in my Peferrences BUT willingly "sacrifice" Symmetry for "Lichenous Aesthetics" between Tank & Mod.

Personally, I agree with and have come to adopt a pref. for single 21700 Devices. Also, I lean to the "tad heavier" on the See-Saw of Gear Weight Mantras. Realy dig the weight & feel of the MIXX (gonna look awesome when/if I ever get the Taifun GX 4ml RDTA) and am looking forward to their eventual production of the 21700 version (prayin to the Vape gods)....

I have for a long time now, two Juppi's , one black and one rare silver. I also owed a white one but sold it as I bought a white Eleaf Aster RT in replacement.

The Juppi is a quite heavy mod, button on the upper side like in the new Kizoku.
It holds max 22mm tanks only, and it's chipset is quite the same as the olds Topboxs with a basic TC mode but quite efficient in Power mode.
And it's very robust.
In fact despite the tank width limitation I find it far more advanced for it's time, than Mixx or Easy actual sbs mods.
A few months ago, you could buy it for less than 15€ on Aliexpress...and they are quite expansive now, more than 35€.

I just bought today a Kizoku i found for 32€ postage included in a french shop, I will compare.

I also owe two Aster RT, 22 mm max also, integrated 4400 mAh battery, that I bought to have a decent TC SBS mod as I put Arcticfox on them.

Same thinking, no actual affordable SBS mod has such a good chipset.

.....it seems to me that some progress is still to make, just to reach the tech level we had 3 years ago.

In switching over to an SBS there is a switchable feature I have on my Dicodes tube mod that I'd really miss: when you hit the trigger it gives you a fraction of a second at a much higher wattage than the steady state one you've programmed in. This greatly minimizes the lag time we've all learned to expect in vaping. I don't know if this is exclusive to Dicodes or not. Do any of the SBS mods allow for this?

If Aspire upgraded Mixx to a DNA 60... I would be all in on 2 the day of release. Adding 21700 support would be icing on the vape cake. :D

    Agreed. I'm not worried about my atty being taller than the battery tube, but it's information my geeky self wants to know.

    The MECHLYFE x Mrjustright1 PARAMOUR SBS MOD has made this info freely available:

    And for my favourite Aspire Mixx, I resorted to the old fashioned method of measuring it myself

    YiHi Chipsets have diff levels of initial Boost or Lag in power on Engage.
    Wonder how long before they produce an SBS using say, the SL class as a jump-point...
    That be a 21700 Bad@$$ :headbang:
    I've never bought anything with a YiHi chip. Thanks for pointing me in that direction. I'm assuming that if it has boost it's otherwise fully featured.

    Yeppers,,, as Full-Featured as anyone would want. The 485 & 550 series chips that I have owned (SL & G classes).
    Equally Big Fan of Evolv & Dicodes too tho.

    Would be all over an SLclass based SBS....
    DAY-UMMM,,, now that dream convoluted compulsion will be stuck in my head :yawn:
    At least until the new inbound Recruit arrives from cross the pond anyways ;)

    Regarding the Yihi chips, I have a couple of SX Minis that I really like, but I see a lot of TC folks dissing the chips. I don't do TC so I don't about any of that, and I like the mods.

    If HC says they're good, I'd be much more inclined to believe him before the routine flamers. It should also be noted that I've seen Yihi lovers flaming Evolv chips.

    I've never quite understood that mentality. A good vape is a good vape, or so one would think.

    I'm not sure a Yihi would be a good candidate for an SBS, whose main reason for existing is in being compact. I never progressed past the 375 series Yihi, but one distinctive thing about them was a very large wire wrapped coil-looking thing on their boards. The term reluctor comes to mind, but it may be one of my occasion hallucinations and even if it isn't I wouldn't be able to tell you what it's designed to do.

    So that would add quite a bit of thickness to the body if they are still using that.

    Funny thing about TC - though I seldom use it these days, I was fascinated at the time because it seemed like a much more precise and controllable way to get exactly the vape you wanted. I think the first TC mod I ever got was the Sigelei 75TC which was anxiously awaited back then. I still have a couple of them and might try them again just for nostalgia. However good they were, I clearly remember getting a Yihi was a huge step forward.

    I still hear the complaints about the boards "motorboating" which was a rapid pulsation in the vape temp as the board controlled. I can honestly say I never experienced it until I tried to.

    I'm probably on shaky ground with what I'm about to say about Busardo. In fact, if the skies look even slightly cloudy I will not go outside lest I be struck by lightning. The hereticism: He was dead wrong about how the boards worked and gave bad advice. After his review, I began to hear about those awful motorboating Yihis and wondered what I was doing wrong.

    I can't remember the exact video, but one of the shockers is that he recommended just wrapping the coil so if fit nicely between the posts - He said whatever resistance it came out to didn't matter since the board would take care of it whether it came out .001 or 1.0 But the worst thing was when he advised that the wattage should be set at max, again since the board would take care of the heat needed. THAT causes motorboating.

    My favorite analogy is that doing it in that manner is like putting your gas pedal to the floor as soon as you pull out, and then using the brakes to regulate your speed. The board would begin the vape at 75w (when all that was needed was 30 or so), see the temperature go haywire and shut everything down. But then it was below the setpoint so it would apply the full wattage again. And shut off again. When that happens multiple times per second, you have - Motorboating.

    heh, heh, heh,,,, :rolleyes:

    As DPL put it so succinctly & aptly;

    :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: Vaping is subjective. :laugh:

    By Definition, Objectively & therefore Logically; the SBS Main Reason for "existing", its "Purpose", is to Place the Tank (RDA, RTA, RDTA, Carto, et al) on the SIDE as opposed to ON TOP OF..... Of course thereby making it more Compact solely by the Nature of its "SBS" Design. Not necessarily its Size (dimensions) or Weight/Mass.
    THOSE Aspects/Facets/Characteristics of the Device are entirely Subjective & solely defined by the Preferences of the User/Beholder.
    Toe-May-Toe : Toe-Mah-Toe :thumb:

    I Likes 'em to fit comfortably in the hand Size-wise (completely subjective & varies by whose Hand is holding it) AND to have some "Gumpshun" to them Weight-Wise. Not a "Chunk" (like my old Bend toward Philippine Mechs) but not on the "Feather-ish" side in contrast either.
    Your (same as my Esteemed Friend DPL's) Prefs & Mileage may vary and that's cool too :) . However, the "Subjectives" do NOT render any SBS Device Moot or "Derilict to its Purpose" by any reasonable means or measure.

    YiHi: I like them. I have successfully & satisfyingly used them for Power & TC Vaping. Got No Issue whatsoever with them.
    Same goes for Evolv & Dicodes.
    I think (totally IMO from thought & extrapolation) the Battle of the Boards (YiHi vs Et Al) began and was totally based on the Debate/Argument of Watts vs. Joules as a Means & Measure of Power Application utilized to achieve the set/desired Temp. Some, as with any such Debate/difference in Opinion, take/took that WAY TOO Far thus creating a false "Schism" between the two Camps. Pitiful Shame and so unnecessary in my mind but again;
    C'est La Vie (see above Re: Tomato) ;)

    I have owned MANY Evolv Devices, 3 Dicodes (so far), and 6 total YiHi (again-so far)...
    I Liked them all overall (except for one glitchy, aggravating, demonically possessed I think Turd that will not be named as many others loved the little Devils) for what they were/are and use/used them ALL to a many Tasty & Satisfying Vape.
    I never attempt or set to sway others to adopt or assimilate my Opinions only to discuss & encourage a "Try It-Ya Might Like it-Ya Might Not" atmosphere and/or mentality regarding
    Gear.

    Rattle-snaking (the use of rapid-fire Pulse-Modulation to maintain desired Level of, in this dicussion's case, Temp ... Yep, too many experienced this Phenomenon for me to discount or disbelieve. However, I only experienced this once with my very 1st YiHi Device. Never on my SL's or the G I owned. Then again, I mainly TC Vape from 18-30 Watts/Joules and usually 488-510 *F (totally defined by my Build and desired resulting Vape). So, it is safe to assume that such does not occur due to my somewhat "Lower Realms" of Settings/Vaping Prefs. I "guess", maybe, I don't know,,,, I really don't give a Rat's *** if it does or not to be perfectly honest so therefore don't give it any time, effort or serious thought. Tasty Vapes = I'm Good to Go.

    Enuff of my Ramblings and equally Valid & Invalid Scheissen....

    Yepperz;
    :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb: Vaping is subjective. :laugh:

    Now: Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia AND a YiHi SXmini SLclass based SBS and BE QUICK ABOUT IT! :D

    Awesome Day & many a Tasty Vape to you ALL my Brothers & Sisters :thumb:

    Ps. Agree-Ol' Baaaa-star-do is "Sated with Defecation" regarding TC (AND several other things he touts & spews as far as that goes)... NOT by Opinion but by the Laws of Physics as they factually & definitively apply to TC Vaping. Then again,,, Not a Fan IN THE LEAST of ANY blatantly Pompous Self-Serving/Self-Indulgent Purveyor of Poo...
    Little Strong? Prob so but eh, see above Re: Rodent's Buttocks :lol:
