Huh, I don't ever recall seeing those, nice! I do remember someone slipping an o-ring underneath...

In my early days using Reos (2014/2015) I put an o-ring on the atty's 510 sometimes to index the atty's AFC/AFC's direction to where i wanted them when it was mounted on the mod.

I use to do the same thing, but I can't remember what setup that was or why it was required! LOL

I don't know if 2015 counts as the old days. A neighbor is moving and found this in her shed.
It's a Cigreen ABS box mod with volt meter, but without the Mosfet.
The atomizer is a Kanger Subtank Plus. What a rocket ship! If this was the state of the art in 2015, the industry as advanced a lot in 5 years.

When I get time, I'll dig through some Really Older stuff and post some pictures, not really sure how we quit back then with the crappy stuff.
I know, right?! When I look back at the equipment (and juice) that got me off the Stinkies!?!...amazing it stuck

By your ECF join date you've got most of three years of vaping on me. I switched using an eGo-C kit and thought I was in heaven when I discovered CE4 clearos and then cartos. I don't think I could have stuck with vaping if I had tried in 2009! At least some of our vape hardware in 2012 was usable out of the box if someone did a bunch of research before buying and was at least a little mechanically inclined. But man, I wouldn't want to go back to those days  !

I know this is going to sound sorta Strange...

But when I started, it was like you kinda Expected things to Not to Work Well. Because Most of it Didn't. And then when it Didn't, you came to the ECF to try to find a "Mod" to make it Work Right.

Or you started a Thread where people Cooked Up New "Mods" for how it could be Improved. (And the OEM's watched these Threads very closely.)

Maybe you had to Fluff Up this? Or replace that with a Bigger O-Ring? Or cut something with a Dremel? Or plug a Hole with a Toothpick? But I seemed like there was Always some way to make what you had Better.

Now... "Better" could still be Pretty Bad. And some stuff was just Not Useable. But a lot of the stuff back-in-the-day could be saved.

With the Help of the ECF Product Development and Beta Testing Department, I was able to Switch. But if the ECF (and Countless Helpful Members) hadn't been around, I'm sure I Couldn't have.

While there was some crappy stuff, there was some good stuff too.
I bought a Mako Midi in 2010, and still use it today. And, that's the mod that fell out of a duck blind, and spent a week on the muddy bottom of Ogden Bay. (my dog found it)
I still have an old Provari (made in 2010), and it still works fine even though it still has the 2.5 Amp limiter in it.
Still have 12 bricks of Boge cartos, and they were a great vape in 2011, so why wouldn't they still be a great vape?!
The trick with most stuff, as it turned out, was to arm yourself and know how to FIX something before you bought it.

The good news was (and still is) that vaping is so simple, that the fixes were simple too.
The bad news was the prices we had to pay back then.
Would you believe this was 80 bucks back then?!?

I tossed a heck of a lot of stuff when I moved from a house to an apartment. But I kept a large box of old vape stuff. I still need to make a project of it and go through the box to see what's there. I do know I have a shoebox full of cartos and Vivi Novas.
I have a lot of old tanks and coils that I know I will never use again. I do not know why I don't want to through them away lol.

The vaping world has made them all obsolete. I need to bite the bullet and toss them. I look in the box and my mind says to me "you may need this someday" the truth is, NOT lol. I love the post you started. I got some old hardware for sale, LOL.

Never had a VV3s, but the VV4s kick .... (same thing but goes to 15W). Still using them. Best eGo battery ever made IMHO. I vape both MTL and DL anywhere from 7W to 18W.

Also LOVE the EVODs with the newer SOCC coils (same as the old Protank/EVOD coils but with cotton wicks). Nice low-powered MTL vape. Someone just PIFed me some EVODs lol.

I also, still use a itaste vv4 with evods when I am out and about (which regretfully is not often these COVID days), you can pick the EVODs and coils up for very cheap on fasttech. I even have a working itaste3 vv3 in the nature edition, which I thing is one of the best looking e-cigs ever, and I so wish they still made.

I bought a couple of iTaste VV V3.0's (white, chameleon) back in early/mid 2014. But I didn't use them anymore than just trying them out with EVOD's because as a DL vaper neither of them got it done for me. My mistake once again buying MTL gear that I should have known better than to buy.

I think I still have one or two of those new in the box.

My two are about as close to like new as they can get and are in their boxes with whatever came with them around here someplace. Another case of out of sight is out of mind unless someone mentions whatever it is.

From my DIY dinosaur days when I first started mixing my own e-liquids in April 2013.

    View attachment 923895

Tried all of the methods after it and found my sweet spot when this became my mixing gear in July 2016.

I truly must admit I do not have clue how that device works. I have been mixing my juice a long time but, I have no idea how that device works. I thought I was an old school vaper. A lot of you guys must have started before I did. Happy New Year!
