what was that eliquid flavor they used that everyone was crazy about, but was so proprietary that practically nobody could match the taste when they stopped making it? I just remember the product chasing going on over that one.....

I Remember a Huge Thread about it, but I Can't remember the exact Flavor.

Johnson Creek e-Liquids was the 1st Bottled e-Liquids I ever got. And I remember How Cool it felt to be Able to Refill an Atty or a Carto. Verses being at the Mercy of buying Pre-Filled stuff.

Sad to see them go.

@Spydro You have such an amazing collection of early vape gear. You could start a museum. :p
At least a Reo museum.

Very cool to see all this stuff get posted here.

Thanks, but there were a lot of folks here on ECF back in my early days here that had far more examples of early vaping history than I did. In part because they were here and vaping years before me and samples of them were already all gone. But unfortunately most of those folks have not ran this forum for years.

The Queen of Reos way back then was Karen (nerak) who I think owned as many of or more of them than other folks. From my start buying Reos she already had more than twice as many of them that I acquired. When the Reo Forum here shut down in March 2016 I left ECF too. And when I came back to ECF after about a 1.5 year hiatus on a SA forum (in around August 2017) I heard that she was last seen on a FB Reo Group in June 2017 that I didn't know had been started (I do not use FB).

The history of vaping was part of the draw that got me interested in vaping in the first place (I had already quit smoking before I ever even heard of vaping). So some of what I bought was rarer early examples of specific gear more for their history than to be gear that I would use. Quite a few of my Reo's were bought to be just that. Those that I did use occasionally were only used as a 'treat' rather than as a daily driver (especially some of the Woodvil's, the OG VV Grand, a very early Mini, and others). I also acquired a lot of photos of many kinds of early gear that appealed to me as well that came before me (but that I couldn't find examples of to buy), and the stories of their history. For example with the Reos, I have pictures of the very first Reo made, the first one sent to a customer and the ReoMeisters work bench with some of the mods he made on it before he came up with the first Reo. And a lot of production photos he took of new models as they came along. Karen had tons more of photos of Reo history than I did (some of mine came from her, some from research online).

Long gone from the vaping community and chasing another personal interest, Robert will never be forgotten by a hellofalot of folks worldwide who vape or vaped during his era.

Carto's on cigalikes got me off cigs very easily and quickly over 10 yrs ago, so they hold a special place in my heart. ...

I am the Same way.

I started with a Cart n' Atty, an RN4081. But Atty's back in late 2009 were Finicky. And all the Hoops to re-stuff them with Fluval or Pyramid Tea Bags or SS Steel Wool was a Test of Patience. Not to mention Carts that held 7 or so Drops of e-Liquids.

Cartos didn't give quite as Good of a hit as a Well Hitting Atty, but they were Dependable. And gave me the Confidence that I could Depend on my e-Cigarette when I left the House. Something that was one of the Last Pieces of the Puzzle to Quitting Smoking for me.

Wait. Are you sure he didn't say bear and not pope?

Ususally that saying had Bear in it.
It was a joke. A common method in humor to reverse things.
Kind of like "What is the difference between a corn shucker with epilepsy and a ...... with ........?
The corn shucker shucks between fits, and the ...... f's between *poops*

More scatological humor.

That was the point where I gave up on cars and went to dripping. Before the invention of driptips, I would stovepipe a 510 or 910 atty.

Lots of folks liked the Youde atty's in their day. The IGO-L was not my favorite though, the similar IGO-S that I ran on my early OG VV Reo Grand was (because it was a small enough diameter to fit down in the mods catch cup).

I have a few of those and several unused boxes of the carto's. I gave them up due to too many of dubious quality. I began rolling my own on an RM2 then all of the quality issues were of my own making. I had a long learning curve. But...I got there.

About the same here. Probably anyone that started vaping far enough back did cartos as well. There's a box around here somewhere full of what I call Karto Krap, tanks, etc (kind of like another one full of Kanger Krap). They were a fail from the start for my DL style, so I dived into mech tube mods, rebuildable RDA's and the destined to fail Provari's in short order.

The very first 18XXX tube mods I bought... Segelei #20 Roller, #9E, #8W with both tubes and from their first preorder a ZMAX V5 VV/VW. It turned out that I wasn't much of a fan of telescoping tube mods, and especially mods of any description that couldn't fire sub ohm builds.

I have read many of your posts on this and other threads and it seems that you own a ton of gear that you hate and only have relatively very little that you actually like.

Did you used to have commercial ties to the vaping industry in the past or something?

Are you asking me that question? I'll reply if you are.

I have no idea to whom this question is directed, consequently, I will take a stab at it.

No. I am not now nor have I ever been associated with the vaping industry in a commercial manner. I have been associated with the vaping industry as an end of stream consumer of their products.

In my beginning years, I read too many reviews without sufficient knowledge to adequately evaluate those reviews, always chasing the newest best product. Some of those reviews were on youtube and some were on the ECF. I was several years vaping and made multiple purchasing mistakes based upon both. I finally quit listening to all but a very few people on here and listening to none of the youtube reviewers. Since I began ignoring the crowd I have only made one mistaken purchase and that was based upon a no longer trusted ECF user.
