It is a bit confusing that they call them oils, not all of them use oil as a base. My understanding is that it is common for flavour extracts to be oils but there are only trace amounts if they use a non-oil carrier such as alcohol or propylene glycol, so that's not a big worry.

Just a reminder, sugars and colourings might not be good for atomisers or health either.

Ha, well good luck Sanj and just watch out for adverse reactions. Hopefully none of this stuff builds up in our bodies long term.

I've been checking the LorAnn site and these are the candy flavourings that I think are ok to use:

Apple
Bavarian Creme
Black Walnut
Blackberry
Brandy
Bubble Gum
Butter
Butter Rum
Caramel
Champagne
Cheesecake
Chocolate Hazelnut
Cinnamon Roll
Coconut
Cotton Candy
Cranberry
English Toffee
Guava
Honey
Horchata
Horehound
Key Lime
Lemonade
Licorice
Mango
Marshmallow
Menthol Eucalyptus (this contains Caprillic Triglycerides whatever they are, I don't know if it's ok or not)
Mint Chocolate Chip
Pecan
Pina Colada
Pineapple
Pistachio
Plum
Pomegranate
Praline
Pralines And Cream
Pumpkin (this contains Triglycerides, I don't know if it's ok or not)
Sassafras
Strawberry Kiwi
Teaberry
Tropical Punch (Passion Fruit)
Vanilla Butternut

The rest had colours, oils or sugars so have not been included.

Kosher USP grade Vegetable Glycerin in Oregon. :thumb:
Glycerin, Vegetable (Kosher USP) - Bulk - Wholesale

Thanks much for posting this link! Was so excited to read that they also carry PG... AND that they are local to me (about 20 min. away) so I might even be able to pick up and save on shipping costs! :thumb: I had a heck of a time finding VG here, and finally found some at the New Seasons grocery store... but it was $5.00+ for 4 oz. -- and is only $3.65 for 16 oz. at Essential Wholesale... woohoo! I found a cake decorating shop locally that sells the Lorann flavorings.. so going tomorrow to see what flavors they have. Am really looking forward to mixin' up some home brew!! :D

Ponyboi, welcome to the forum.

If you're nuts you could try dripping neat flavour ;)

USP, BP or food grade glycerine and propylene glycol is what the rest of us use. Do not use anything else, it's probably for cosmetic purposes and might have impurities that could damage your lungs.

I hope that you'll tell us about your best recipes when you've done a bit of experimenting Mixxy.

Yes, I'll post updates when I get my funding (Financial Aid from college has its uses). Im going to find a local chem / hobby shop if they have appropriate supplies (Graduated cylinders, droppers, beakers much much more).

All i need now is to find some tobacco extract. I have an uncle who has a tobacco farm i the Philippines, so I'll see what I can do.

(is it just me or is the server experiencing some problems? I couldn;t access the forum for a good couple of hours)

I went flavor shopping today, and had such a hard time... I wanted all of them! 8-o I told myself I could only start out with 5 flavors... and I made up (and tried 3 of them so far) Pralines & Cream, Blackberry, & Cinnamon Roll. I love all three of them, but Blackberry is my #1 favorite, then Cinnamon Roll and then Pralines & Cream. The other 2 flavors (I haven't mixed yet) are Butter Rum and English Toffee. So will report back when I mix & try them. I did the small recipe for making about 5 ml using .5 ml distilled water, .5 - 1 ml flavoring and 4 ml VG. :D

The LorAnn flavors can not be beat. The english toffee blows me out of the room if I use a little to much--very good.. I have also tried the Bavarian Cream, Cheesecake, Cranberry, and Apple. They all are very good. I will have to try the Blackberry on my next order--sounds good:)

The blackberry is just WONDERFUL :thumb: I'm a huge blackberry jam fan.. and it makes me want to have toast with it! ;)

I'm having a hard time guessing what the Bavarian cream and the cheesecake would taste like, are they a creamy taste? I shouldn't really complain since I feel lucky to have a local store to buy the LorAnn flavors.. but I was just disappointed that they ALL came in the twin packs for $3.50. I would have tried more flavors if I could have just purchased 1 bottle of each. I know I'll enjoy having the 2nd bottle on the ones I want to make again.. but I figure at some point I'll find some that I won't care as much for.

Mixxy, do you mind me asking what store (cake shop) in PDX you found the LorAnns? Also if you know of any others carrying it? I too would also rather find single dram bottles if possible.

I believe I am going to make some guava, blackberry, passion fruit, and possibly test some others (teaberry, chocolate hazelnut, etc) as well. Did they have a wide assortment, or was it fairly tame? Thank you.
