I'll be keeping my eye out for this, but not going to be going crazy trying to find one.

Biggest concern I have is the ultem/plastic battery door. I would have preferred the mod to be a little heavier and have it made out of something more durable.

I'm just concerned about cracks in it from an accidental drop, or the like. I'm on my second Simple EX, because the plastic squonk bottle cover developed a crack around the top magnet, and over a period of a month since then, has completely split it half. I will probably pass on the Pulse dual battery squonk since it looks similar to the Simple EX in that regard.

I watched Todd's video, maybe it's just me being paranoid, but it looks to me like he has a crack in the ultem battery door cover? Look at the side of the door opposite of the squonk hole. It looks to me like there is a crack running along where the top magnet is glued in? Hard to see later in the video, but in the earlier portion that's what it looks like to me. If so, this will spread over time and split. I personally would prefer the door be made out of something more sturdy, and sacrifice a little weight.

My only other dual batter squonk is the Basium. I like it a lot, but honestly use my single battery squonks for the most part.

EDIT: Watch Todd's video at around 4:40, for a bit, and then again starting around 6:00. Definitely looks like a crack to me.

@score69 - Good eye – below is a screen grab.

Thanks for grabbing that, you are more talented than I. My video quality was poor too, watched and rewatched it, but wasn't 100% sure until you posted this. My bandwidth must be slow today.

This makes this a definite no for me then. Unless they have a version with a more solid battery door. That crack will continue to spread as the door is remove/installed and pressure is put on it.

Wonder if the 'full black' version's cover is also polycarbonte. Guessing it is. :(

I know he said the doors from the original Drone would fit, but I don't own one and aren't going to try to source a door from it, or have to buy a replacement. Once that door cracks/breaks, the mod would be useless to me. I'm on my second Simple EX for this same reason.

I understand them wanting to reduce the weight, but it shouldn't be at the expense of quality.

Have to agree with you. I am not against the use of plastics in a vape device, but the design has to be selective on where to use it, for integrity, and how it’s finished. Gloss plastics do not wear well. I was looking forward to this device, hoping more for an evolution over the original Drone than just what I consider a refresh.

I also have an issue with a plastic or silicone tubing being used to connect the squonk bottle and 510 interface as shown below. I have thrown out squonk bottles and or tubing simply because they have retained flavour/odors from the various juices I have used. But discarding a squonk bottle or the tubing used within a bottle is easy – disassembling a mod for the same purpose is not something I am willing to take on.

the door is not good. I'm hoping they change something about it on the final retail versions. otherwise they are gonna be shipping a lot of replacement doors.

I guess they didn’t go with real ultem for cost reasons. But this ain’t gonna work in the long run.

Yeah, this is a no go for me unless they come out with a more solid door option.

I know Lost Vape isn't a high end mod, but if I'm spending around $150 for it, something as basic as the door ought to be a solid part. I'm not going to hassle with anything else that has a flimsy plastic part like this after my experience with the Simple Ex. I got a pair of them for around $45 each, but the first one broke within two months. Unacceptable. I like the mod as a small squonk, but won't be buying a replacement when the backup breaks. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Maybe Lost Vape should include replacement doors with the mod in addition to the replacement bottle? ;)

I hope they come out with a better door option, but my guess is we are seeing the retail version in Todd's review. Can't believe he didn't mention the crack.

This is a NO for me unless the door options are improved.

I’m actually very surprised he did not mention the crack. I also suspect this is the final retail version. Unless the composite can be changed to make it more durable, which could also change the colour (and require the rest of the device to be changed to match), I fear the only solution is to go back to the original alloy door or to make the plastic thicker – which would also dictate a change to the rest of the device.

To be fair to Todd, that could be a dog hair. If that door were to crack it would more likely be a vertical stress crack.

In that picture there's no question.
This looks very similar to where the crack started on my Simple Ex. Right where the magnets are glued in. Willing to bet the door is recessed there for the magnet to fit in. The plastic is therefore thinner than the rest of it, pulling on the magnet to pop the door on/off stresses the thinner plastic in this area and forms a crack.

Over time, that crack will spread until it completely breaks. Probably won't take too long either depending on how strong the magnet is and how much stress is put in that area.

That's really a bummer, I was looking forward to one of these. Maybe they'll fix it in a later rendition if folks start to have issues. I'll wait and see. Not willing to risk that the ones with the black doors are any stronger than these.

Short version, no drama, no bull.... and no lies.

Up close was recorded with the prototype which I did indeed drop, I raised the issue with Lost Vape before the retail version was released letting them know about the drop and where the crack appeared.

They confirmed they had used to much glue in the first testers and had seen this crack but the later production run they resolved the issue.

So, my production one, still no crack and make of that what you will :)
