Good morning whoever is up. Fran, it looks like we got your storms last night. It was a good thing because I had to hand water some of my bedding plants yesterday, but I didn't get to all of them. The rain took care of that very nicely.

Tomorrow through Sunday our heat index is going up to 113. Yesterday our daughter mentioned being stuck in the house in the winter during snow storms, but we're stuck in the house in the summer with this heat. I feel so sorry for people working outside in this, like the road workers or roofers, landscapers, police in their uniforms etc. Ugh!

Mike had our pool water tested yesterday and turns out we had way too much copper in our crystal clear water. That's odd. So, we dumped in the recommended stuff and the water immediately turned green and cloudy. WTH!! Still not clear this morning so it's back to the pool store this morning. Gotta get this fixed because the grand babies are coming this weekend to swim! Personally I think it's too hot to swim so I'll be staying inside making ice cream sandwiches for this weekend. Hux turns 3 this Sunday and he's all excited about getting "prizes" for his birthday.

Janet isn't it nice when Mother Nature helps us with the watering? Yesterday I was supposed to water my beds after returning from errands and I was not looking forward to doing this because even in the evening the temp was 95! Lucky for me and the environment we got 2.5" of rain.

Hola .. :)

Had another real gulley washer come thru yesterday afternoon .. the leading edge was high wind, 40-50MPH gusts, trees were whipping, the sirens went off and then the rain came in buckets .. lasted maybe 30-45 minutes .. heck, at one point, I really had to crank up the TV volume just to hear it ..

Heat index is going to be quite high the next few days, in that 110-115o range .. Heat Alert is on, especially for the Mature Folks and the young 'uns .. have had a few heat related deaths the last week or so in the STL area .. mainly Mature Folks that either had no air conditioning or did not want to turn it on due to cost ..

'Afternoon everyone...

Yesterday's storm didn't last for too long, though cell phone was screaming flash flood alert. I'm finding it interesting that even though I have the same temp and general weather forecasts as others here, I get no heat warnings, just continual flash flood alerts....o_O

Eye drops have started to wear off from laser treatment to eliminate scar tissue for both dh and myself.
Appointments were set at 6:10 am, and had to drive to Ormond Beach which is about a half hour drive from home, so we were up at 4 am just so we could have our leisurely coffee. Hubby's both eyes are done now, and my left eye will be done next Thursday!

Right now, the temp is 85o but am not venturing outside until my eye is totally back to normal........of course, hubby is sound asleep cause he didn't want to take any chances either.! Those of you who know him realize how relaxed he can be!

Envious I am! It' like he has an on/off sleep switch in his brain. Take me an hour of self-talk to somewhat quiet brain enough to go back to sleep for a nap.

It's funny, but most times if I hear it's going to rain and don't water the rain never comes. I have to spend 3 hours watering for it to rain. I like watering, but not for 3 hours!

Good morning.

Man, it's like a sauna outside this morning. 77 degrees and 73% humidity, going up to 93 today and climbing through the weekend. At least I don't have to worry about going out to water thanks to a couple T-storms. Looks like a nasty heat wave for most of the country so I hope everyone stays cool.

@bea How are the fire ant stings coming along? I just had a couple on my foot once and the little spots where they bit stayed for the longest time.

I hear you, Janet. 93 today, with 105 predicted heat index. I have no air conditioning, generally open up with fans at night, close in the morning, all is good. But last night I left the apartment closed up, because overnight was predicted for 75. Overnight tonight even higher, but I will sleep over at a friend's apartment. Heat will break on Saturday.

Good morning everyone :)

Our temps are finally breaking. The last several weeks were 95-100 but we're finally down to 92-93 and the humidity is down to the 70s.

Thanks for asking Janet. Finally getting better but I ended up with all the bites …about 2 dozen…getting pus heads. Most of them have popped thankfully.

Glad to hear you have someplace to go to get out of this heat. Our bodies were not meant to live in an oven. We're going to be stuck in it through Sunday, but we've got AC so mostly we'll just stay inside.
