I always get a deep feeling of satisfaction when I place my American Flag on the lamppost a few days before a National Holiday ..
Put it up this morning ..
Last May, I hung a Mexican Flag during Cinco de Mayo, not for any particular Political statement, I just like Cinco de Mayo .. got a couple of snide comments from a neighbor or two, just the few that don't get my particular eccentricities .. no one vandalized anything .. .. people just need to loosen up these days .. somehow, even small things are taken as some sort of slight ..
Maybe next June, I'll fly a Gay Pride Flag for a day or two to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City ..

Thanks. I hadn't heard about this. It's hard to imagine any person, especially with kids, not smiling when they see this.

Dorian isn't playing around!
Was up at 1:30 this morning and decided to stay up and finish up everything that needed doing! DH was out of the house at 5 am getting the van and car fueled. Went to bed at 9:30am and woke up at 11am and went to the store again......this time, I bought comfort snacks......folks here are not panicking and our local neighborhood seems to be well prepped.
18650s all charged, power bank charged, ejuices ready.......
This is going to be a big one and I would be fibbin if I didn't say I'm a bit scared. Grateful there is a heavy support presence locally! Keeping busy is good!
We're not too far from Flagler Beach and go there quite often......Golden Lion has been there forever, and I just wonder if it was at that pub you enjoyed your libation. Flagler Beach has changed quite a bit since we moved here and I love it! It's definitely has a touristy feel to it, but it's always cheerful.Hola ..
I've always had an affinity for the Florida East Coast, back in the day, when I would drive up RT 1, in the areas north of Port St Lucie, it always had the look and feel of being a bit run down, worn like an old pair of jeans, houses on stilts, questionable looking yet still delicious eateries, small shacks where fresh seafood was being offered by the local fishermen .. I don't know how it is now .. the West Coast is nice, Miami is nice, but those areas always seemed more catered to the Tourist Trade or the Rich People, much more shiny and polished .. I've always been a Tradesman / Craftsman, so I tend to relate in that direction ..
Some years ago, I was doing some work in the Flagler Beach area .. it was my last day before heading back to Fly Over Country, so, I went to the Beach early in the day just to soak it in and people watch .. I love the Ocean and the Mystery that comes with it .. it was a weekday in October and the Sand was relatively deserted ..
A few hours later, a storm was obviously brewing up over the Atlantic .. as I watched it evolve, it was surely a Miracle of Nature and quite inspiring, clouds building, waves increasing .. although few people were to be found, suddenly, guys in ATV's started riding up and down the strand demanding folks leave due to the storm coming in ..
I walked over to a local Pub, ordered up a snack and a libation while sitting at a window seat facing the Atlantic .. while it did get a bit fierce, it was nothing compared to what an actual Hurricane would be ..

Our DIL is now a little lighter without her gall bladder. All went well and she's home. Thank you for your prayers. Poor little Beckett kept saying over and over, "Where's Mommy?" "Mommy's at the doctors." Well, now she's home and he couldn't be happier.

Rented "Godzilla :: King of the Monsters" BluRay .. it was a toss-up between that or "Rocketman" .. I figured it would be tough to top "Bohemian Rhapsody" and I'm a Godzilla Fan, so I went with Godzilla .. maybe "Rocketman" on Monday, who knows .. living on the edge, you know ..
Thinking I'm going to make Chicken and Dumplings or Jambalaya over Brown Rice for supper .. it was initially going to be Chili but I changed my mind .. just need to do something that I can eat on today and tomorrow ..
Monday, it's Labor Day Party Time Cookout with a few folks .. got my Beer Bratwursts / Wine Coolers for the Ladies and what not ready to go .. never want to wait till the last minute on getting the Brats, I've seen them sold out on Labor Day itself .. plus, Kroger had a good sale ..
I sincerely hope Dorian does not put a big kibosh on you folks that are in "The Cone" .. Stay Safe ..
