Good morning everyone!
We bought a new fridge yesterday but they can't deliver it for 2 weeks so we're living out of an ice chest and a friends freezer. The next two weeks can't go fast enough!

Can't they locate one at one of their other stores? I'd have made a fuss to see if they could do something to speed up the process. By-the-way, hope you didn't loose much food from your fridge that died.

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :)

Heatwave finally broke last night, so I schlepped out the lawnmower this AM and mowed .. it was around 75o with a 32% humidity according to my Weather readout .. but, the heat will be back on, according to the Weather Prognosticators ..

From the "I'm Turning Into a Lightweight" File ::

A Friend took me out (and paid .. :)) last night, and I had a couple Top Shelf Margaritas with dinner .. got home around 9ish, plopped in the recliner with the TV on and promptly fell asleep, waking up at 1 AM and then staggering to the Bed .. (and, no, there was not even any "substance" involved .. :()

There has to be a Jeff Foxworthy Joke in there, somewhere .. "You know you're getting Old when .. "

I've never hid the fact that, although I am a Gun Owner and 2nd Amendment Proponent, I still rest in favor of some movement toward tightening a few things / Gun Show Loophole / etc ..

What tends to get lost in the noise is :: Currently, Federal Law requires background checks (through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System) for guns sold through licensed firearm dealers .. which represent the vast majority of firearm sales .. I've always wondered whether Gun Control Activists actually know there is a system in place already .. from the stats I know, the current Law covers about 75% of sales .. so, 25% left uncovered ..

The City of St Louis is proposing that any that fail the background check be reported by the dealer to the 5 / 0 for any possible follow up .. makes sense to me ..

'Afternoon everyone...:)

I do miss my days of raising and showing shih tzu's. I will forever miss my Am Can Ch Charlie Chan.

GetAttachmentThumbnail

Just wondering if you happened to know, my very good friend, Betsy Dyer, owner/breeder of Kara'Ko Shih Tzu's...or her handler? Betsy has passed, and my little guy is one of the few remaining offspring of a long line of beautiful, healthy champions.

Beautiful painting!

At first, i thought it was one of Yiddle's drawings!

LOL... Yes, it's a beautiful watercolor! I haven't ventured into that medium....yet...;)

Well, certainly .. :) .. of course, that would then make three in one sitting, which, could result in me landing on the floor of the Establishment tout suite .. based on my experience of last night ..

I'll add that, although your recipe is close to Spot On (I prefer Patron) .. some Pitted Queen Olives with a few drops of the Olive liquid in the marg is my ask ..
  • 1 1/4 ounces Gran Patron Platinum
  • 3/4 ounce Cointreau liqueur
  • 3/4 ounce Grand Marnier liqueur
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 6 ounces (3/4 cup) sweet-and-sour mix
Lime slice / Queen Olives

That name is familiar. Do you know what years she was active? I quit showing/handling/breeding about 35 years ago so I am not current on folks in the game.

My Charlie is actually Am Can Ch Brynmyr's Charlie Chan. Brynmyr is my kennel name and he is from the Heavenly Dynasty line out of NY and Conn. I also bred Am Can Ch Brynmry's I'm The Boss and a couple others.

I think many do, since the noise is to close the loophole, and get the other 25%.

I'm not sure of the exact year she started showing...guessing about 1985 up until 2007? Perhaps it was after you quit...

Oh I remember having a few of those nights in "My" younger days - Thankfully - not often . . .

However, since I've became diabetic over 15 years ago I not only cut back - for the past 14 years I have refrain from drinking alcohol, except for a couple of sips of wine (3x's at special holiday dinners w/friends) . . . Other then that it is just the "Olives" (at least 3 lg) that have marinated from my best friends Beefeaters extra dry Martini every so often . . .

    So - THANKS . . .

    OOOO - I'd have tried that - at least once . . .

I still rest in favor of some movement toward tightening a few things / Gun Show Loophole / etc ..

I don't know why it's called the Gun Show Loophole, probably just for the 'politics' of it. It's really a Private Sale Loophole. Federal law only requires Federally Licenses Gun dealers to conduct background checks. Private sales of handguns and rifles are regulated by the states and the law varies from state to state.

Some states have no restrictions (i.e. background check not required for handguns or rifles) on the private sale of 'guns'. Here in PA I can legally sell a rifle or shotgun to someone without a background check on the buyer. But the private sale of a handgun can only be sold/transferred in a county sheriff's office or at a licensed gun dealer, where a background check is required for the buyer.

Could/should this be tightened up ... yup! But I'll wager the states will balk at turning some of their 'power' over to the Feds. Maybe that's why it's taking so long to close this 'Private Sale Loophole'.

I agree with David, I think most people do know there are sales with no checks. Enforcing those checks are a good idea as long as HIPPA doesn't get in the way, but thieves and "unscrupulous" types won't give it a thought. Once they've committed the crime the lack of a background check only matters for the length of jail time. And if you're in a situation with one of those unscrupulous types the good guys with guns mostly could never be there fast enough to help you. Besides, if someone is crazy enough to want to kill people there's lots of other ways to do that. There is evil in the world and there is crazy and there's no way we'd ever be able to totally get rid of either. How very frightening.

I suspect because so many private sales go on in the gun show parking lots :)
