It was the perfect day for a wedding. Between 70 and 80, blue skies, no wind. Gorgeous.

It was great to have all 3 of my children together again. And all but one of my grandchildren. Melinda throws a good wedding.

I love watching my daughters dance together. Just like when they were teenagers. They even managed to get their brother on the dance floor a little bit.

A very good day.
Congratulations! It's always a good time when the whole family gets together to celebrate!

Why, thank you and much appreciated. Glad to be here. Always thought I was a misfit, too :w00t: And a free thinker....could be a dangerous combo, or could be LOTS of fun! [emoji23]
Welcome @Katmar! I guess I've been here long enough (this timel) to be part of the welcoming committee! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Speaking of plants & leaves....meet my pecan shrub! The pecan tree outside my bedroom window got cut down but it's coming back! Gonna have to cut back the branches, they take up 1/2 the sidewalk.

It's funny, I just realized that the Astros were in the finals. Hubby was asking about it, and I had to explain that they were my favorite baseball team when I was a kid. Good on the Astros, I hope they bust the Yankees.

Happy for us & I care nothing about sports.
It's hard to live here without a 'little Altuve' rubbing off on you.

he, he ... Janet and I were in San Diego during the Christmas season once upon a time when our daughter was living on Coronado Island. It was very, very strange walking around in shorts, t-shirt and sandals and seeing all the Christmas decorations and lights in the shopping district and houses. It just didn't feel 'normal'.
I know what you mean. The first Christmas we lived in FL we got a kick out of the same thing…BUT…we loved it…still do!!!

Why would a pecan tree be so close to the house?

My great aunt had a huge pecan tree. It's branches spread all the way across the backyard. The branches were fat enough to sleep on. We used to climb the pecan tree to get on the garage roof so we could compare how far we could each jump off the other side of the garage.

Are you going to keep the pecan tree trimmed down to stay small?

I've lived in New Orleans almost all my life. I'm used to hot humid Christmases. One year it snowed and brought the city to a halt!
Same here. Doesn't take much to stop everything. Houston can deal with water, just not the frozen kind! We have bvb ad weather today. With few freaks between storms. And I have to get out for a grocery pick up. Ugh!

Good morning all!

That's where the squirrels planted it many years ago! It was only about 8" in diameter, but tall enough to clear the roof of the building. It had put out pecan's for the last 2-3 years. Once it cleared the roof it was getting sun all day & started to produce. New management cut it down when they took over this year. But they didn't kill the roots, so it has a huge root system supporting it.
Before my Dad died, we lived in a house in nearby League City for about 15 years. It was built in a pecan orchard in 1903. A big Queen Anne style with big Porches around it. On close to an acre of fenced land. And 8 huge pecan trees! We had pecans coming out out ears! The years we had hurricanes would cost almost the whole crop, but the trees around the edges would protect the ones in the middle, so we'd still get some. But the ground would be COVERED in pecans still in their husks. Too many at once to pick them all up, so we just drove over them in the gravel driveway & had happy, fat squirrels.
