'Morning everyone...:)

Sun is shining here but it's cold.Haven't checked the temps for a few hours, but it was 24 when I got up at 2AM.

A first for me, I picked up some hand sanitizer when I went shopping this week. A plus for not being able to shop more than twice a month...I always keep enough staples in my cupboard and freezer to get me through a month if needed.

That's a silly woman who won't accept packages. She should be more concerned about whether the delivery person is coughing than the wrapping on the package. All that's needed is to open the package, discard the wrappers, don't touch your face and wash your hands...

Good morning all. Thanks to everyone for all of the kind well wishes for my 5 year anniversary and birthday. Today is going to be a good day. I am loading up the Jeep and getting together with my Bud to do some tree cleanup one his property. All I need to do first is get some coffee in my system. I hope everyone has a good day and stays safe.

When the Hand sanitizers run out in the stores...or even if you just like doing things on your own...

We all (if we DIY e-liquid) have the ingredients to make it (Mostly)
8oz ish (ish is a very important measurement - lol)
2ish oz VG
Add 2 T Alcohol (or 4 T witch hazel)
Can add few drops of tea tree oil and/or a nice smelling essential oil
Can add 2ish oz aloe vera gel
The rest is distilled (or not) water

Nothing real scientific...just throw some stuff together.

A standard VG water for a fantastic skin moisturize is 1/4 VG and 3/4 water...plus what ever else you want to add for goodies.

Good morning!

Geordi is now officially IABCA International CH, UKC CH, AKC CH Bijou Luisant Kontinuing Mission, CA, BCAT, TKA, CGC!

We got back from a show in Tallahassee, FL Monday and Geordi had mail. He is if officially a UKC (United Kennel Club) Breed Champion! Makes him a breed champion (looks, structure, movement and charm ) in 3 different kennel clubs!!:banana::rickroll::rickroll::toast::toast::toast:

View attachment 871999

I took the photo in front of some of my beautiful azaleas. His UKC name is Kontinuing Mishn because they didn't allow enough letters in the name (without an extra fee) for his AKC name, so I shortened Mission to Mishn :D

Going to be cold here the next few days, but only for a few days. Then back to the 80s! These temperature swings are rough, but I actually enjoy the occasional cold weather (although my thumb and hand don't - I have a rechargeable hand warmer that goes with me everywhere!). Looked into gloves, but they are too big and bulky to function with. Heater in my pocket works great!
Such a beautiful champion!

Hola .. :)

Back since places started doing it, I have always taken advantage of the disinfectant wipes that are stationed at the entrance of many stores, Lowes, Walmart, Walgreens, Kroger, etc .. when available, I always wipe down the push cart handle immediately if I am using a cart or a basket .. I'll get two of them and then wrap each around the handle so when I am touching the cart, it keeps my hands insulated from the handle itself ..

I also carry a travel size vial of hand sanitizer ..

I, as well, do this! Grab one disinfectant for my hands, discard that, then grab two more and use them on the handle bar........I also use one leaving the store as I could have inadvertently touched something else of which I'm unaware.

Now, having said that, I do believe that fear mongering is rampant right now, and if common sense approaches are practiced, there is no more threat than if we were to get the flu, which, btw, have caused more deaths each year in the US, and let's not mention the epidemic of smoking which has caused more deaths than we care to know. Washing hands often throughout the day is rudimentary.
Some bacteria is good for the body.....think probiotics/prebiotics........

This is my opinion only!

Toss in that the Prez has told CDC and others to release NO information without clearance from the WH, yeah, not a lot of faith...

Yeah, after all it's a "hoax" perpetuated by the Media and opposition Politicos ..

I read the first death on American soil was in your State .. that sounds like more than a "hoax" ..

To top off our recent accomplishments, this morning in the 30 degree weather Geordi found his rat to earn his Barnhunt RATN (Novice rat finder)! This is so much fun!, but hard. He has to indicate the actual (protective) tube with the live rat in it in bales and piles of straw, and I have to be able to read his indication. Not as easy as it may seem, but it's so much fun whether we succeed or not.

So he adds RATN to the back of his name.

Thank you all for all your wonderful compliments and congratulations. Geordi was an official porcher, having started his life being included, just seems right he belongs here too. He is a free thinker and definitely young at heart! Bohemian probably describes him well too.:wub:
    Awesome

I have anti-bacterial hand soap dispensers in both my kitchen and bathroom..and I've also always used the disinfectant wipes wherever they're provided, but not every place has them and I don't go out and about shopping often, hence my need to buy a hand sanitizer to have with me when needed...;)

From: WATCH LIVE: Health officials give update on first U.S. death from coronavirus in Washington state

The person who died was a man in his 50s with underlying health conditions, according to Dr. Jeff Duchin with Public Health Seattle & King County. The man had no history of travel or known contact with anyone suffering from COVID-19.

Well, since it did happen in a "blue" State, I suspect he'll stick with the hoax...

But I will cut him a little slack after he declared the fatality was a woman, since that's what was first reported. Although that was corrected prior to his presser, easy to not get the update.

Yup. Totally agree. And how many people have come down with secondary issues after the antibiotics killed the primary issue and lots of the ones we need!

From what I have read/heard - symptoms are basically the same as the flu. I recently had the "crud", I felt pretty awful. I went to the Dr right away - tested for strep and flu, both were negative. I felt basically like total crap for about 2 weeks - sore throat, congestion, dry cough, achy, tired, etc. 2 weeks later hubby got it. He ran a low fever. Both on the mend now, but with our public life, what's to say we didn't have the coronavirus? No tests for it, but we both felt worse than "just a cold". Probably was "just a cold", but who knows? We don't wash our hands every time after handling money, and the antiseptic wipes/liquid is basically alcohol, which does not kill all germs (per my PHD microbiological researcher brother). No panic here, but who knows where dog show people have been? Apparently this has been around for awhile, just now being panic reported.

@classwife thanks for the moisturizer suggestion. I prefer homemade stuff without all the chemicals commercial products contain. I plan to make some up.

    Good morning!

What does your brother suggest is the best antimictobial?

I'll throw this out there...from a non medical person...
For home made, probably vinegar...and yes you can use vinegar instead of alcohol or witch hazel.

Or you can make a vinegar and water spray with some tea tree oil, or lavender oil.
You'll smell for a bit but it will fade.

For cleaning surfaces and such, bleach. I need to ask him what he recommends for this situation.

From my limited knowledge, I think Classy has a winner here. Vinegar is an excellent cleanser, and tea tree oil is microbiobial (is that a word?), antiseptic and healing.

I have spent the last couple of days working on a friend's acreage. Today, we got around to cutting cedar trees. We got about 100 yards along one fencerow. Only 1,000 trees to go... Steve used his chainsaw and I used the chainsaw attachment for my Toro weed-wacker. It is great for the smaller trees leaving the larger ones for Steve and his chainsaw. Later this week, I will take my 4-wheeler out there and hookup the trees hauling them to the center of the field making nice burrowing areas for the small critters. I am not the most graceful individual. There are a lot of brambles underfoot and twice I got wrapped up in them and fell down. I don't recommend doing that. We are trying to get the property set up for a better chance of allowing the local deer to have a place to feed and fatten up. Steve also spent time doing upkeep on his bees. He has Italian and German bees that he is raising. I'm looking forward to some local honey. I'm learning about the hazards posed by cedar trees to wildlife and land management. Also, more about bees than I ever thought I would need to know.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done. However, we can take our time and not beat ourselves up to get it done. It won't all be work. There are a couple of ponds that are supposed to have some good-sized bass, crappie, and catfish in them. Of course, the main advantage is that when deer season starts I will have a place to go hunt. Along with that, I will also be able to harvest coyotes and feral pigs. I hope everyone had a good day and has a relaxing night.

    Jerry
