Oh yea! Jack Reacher is one of my heros. Read every one and always look forward to the next one. Along with Randy Wayne White's Doc Ford series. All set around Sanibel/Captive Islands in Florida. RWW even has a restaurant on Captiva called Doc Ford's!

BTW, I've read Martin's "Thrones" material 3 times each .. just wish he'd cough out "The Winds of Winter" before I kick it ..

Being Game of Thrones fans, we just listened to "The Clash of Kings" on our last trip (checked out of library). Loved it!

For Sci Fi, my DH is the Sci Fi fan, but my son turned me on to Orsen Scott Card and the whole "Ender's Game"/Formic Wars series. I have read them all. I am currently reading "Children of the Fleet", released on my birthday. I know books should be underlined, but for this quotes are easier :D

Also love Michael Connelly, Greg Isles, James Patterson and many more. I like all sorts of books, but seem to drift to mystery, fiction, action, cop stories? Oh, and many dog training books I won't list.... ;)

edit to add, impressive list Mike! and Willie!

I'll have to look into the Doc Ford series.

I'm another horror fan.

Cute picture to counter-act all the horror here tonight.

Oh no! I thought Doc Ford and Hannah Smith were my own private discoveries. I'm reading Deep Blue right now, and have almost consumed everything in our public library. He did a few under an other name, but our small town library doesn't put them on the shelves.

I don't have a Singing Bowl, although I do have a nice Gong ;) .. but, I do smudge with a Herb fairly regularly .. ;) .. I have thought about getting a Singing Bowl ..

Read the Wiki and you may be convinced to at least try "Song of Kali / Dan Simmons"

Song of Kali - Wikipedia

That's a possibility. I've read his both his Hyperion and Olympus series and enjoyed the experience. :)

@Nermal, your small town library may have electronic access to more selection, if ebooks work for you.

I like the Stephen R Donaldson books re Thomas Covenant, the unbeliever.

About 9 books.

I don't know how many times I have read those and the Tolkein works over and over
I have been reading Lovecraft. His works are too bizarre to get into as horror.

Lovecraft was so ahead of his time .. Cthulhu could likely be considered the basis of so much that came later, not just writing, but movies / TV ..
Nope, we share no dna on this selection of books. I don't read horror stories and I don't watch or go see horror movies. Never liked them during any time of my life.

I recently purchased app. eight of Phillipa Gregory's Tudor series books...and I've managed to read every dang one in about two months! So I went to the library the other day and got three of Stephen King's books...yes...I'm a bookaholic:D
BTW...the only company I've had in my bed for many years now is the company of good books...saves a lot of pain n heartache for me..and most likely the..umm.. never mind...;)
I've heard so much about Lovecraft I finally picked up a collection of his stories. My, but that guy had an amazing vocabulary. I didn't finish it.
Oh yea! Jack Reacher is one of my heros. Read every one and always look forward to the next one. Along with Randy Wayne White's Doc Ford series. All set around Sanibel/Captive Islands in Florida. RWW even has a restaurant on Captiva called Doc Ford's!

Overwhelmed! Quoting to save the list to look up at my leisure.

Amazon has 'Song of Kali' for $12.10. It does look very good.

I have been on a book purchasing diet for some time. But, surely just one little book? I've gone a lot crazier buying books than I've ever been with vape purchases. So, I really have to watch myself.

There was a time, whenever my daughter didn't know where I was, she would start calling my favorite bookstores.

For a very long time, a favorite outing for either Daughter or Granddaughter and I, has been to spend a few hours drinking cappuccino and browsing the books in a bookstore...;)

I've not read any of the Reacher material .. however, I've heard it mentioned so many times, I may decide to go for it .. I'm not a huge Tom Cruise fan, so I don't know if that has flavored my avoidance of the books .. maybe a little ..

I have read quite a few James Patterson .. not all, there is a lot .. I also like Dennis Lehane, Justin Cronin, (who really took Vampires in a new direction with "The Passage" trilogy .. I have probably read "The Other Side of Midnight" by Sidney Sheldon a half dozen times .. Patrick O'Brian is incredibly good .. Preston & Child .. Jonathan Maberry.. so many books, so little time .. ;) .. also, an early work by George R.R. Martin "Fevre Dream" which depicts the era of the Great Riverboats thru a Vampire lens is very good ..

EDIT :: I would be remiss in not adding John le Carré / David John Moore Cornwell .. and, if you missed the 60 Minutes piece done on him a while back, it's well worth rooting out .. :)

The brain cells seem to be firing fairly well today .. :)

Did a Yard/Rummage sale tour this AM .. found nothing of consequence ..

Willie, don't think of Tom Cruise as anything like Jack Reacher. Reacher is 6'5", 230-250 lbs, not pretty but rugged. Many Reacher fans were/are horrified that Lee Child sold the book rights to Cruise because he is NOTHING remotely close to our beloved Reacher. Please read and let your mind picture the real Jack Reacher. It ain't Tom Cruise! Nope, not even remotely close in any way.

Not trying to "sell" you, but "Kali" is one of those books that really draws you in .. at least, it did me .. and, like a really great Movie, it stays with you for a while when finished .. in the case of this book, it is not necessarily a pleasant experience, but that's what Horror is all about .. great Halloween read .. :)
