Couple of days ago, on a drive around to clear my head, I've never been too hip on phone pics, but it's all I had with me ::

Good morning. When that big old Coopers Hawk isn't hanging around the birds are chowing down on the bird seed and suet. It's 19 out there this morning going up to 28. It seems we're down to 1 squirrel now so maybe the hawks will hunt elsewhere. The little finches don't make much of a meal.

    Hola .. :)

Old Man Winter just won't release his grip .. his Kung Fu is still strong ..

Wow, Willie, that's beautiful! The reflection off the snow makes it look like a body of water. That is a covering of ice though right? The Farmers Almanac said we were supposed to have an icy winter with not much in the way of snow, but this Feb has proven them wrong at least around here. We've seen more snow this year than we've seen in a long time.

    Morning all.

    Snow.

Started about 9:30 yesterday morning, and while generally not heavy it hasn't stopped. Only about 4" accumulation so far, may be getting another 8" in the next 24 hours. Hopefully it will be enough to reduce the spring slugs!

Good Afternoon, All. Wow, with all of the cold weather I think we should all just stay inside where it is warm and toasty. I have plenty of everything and the only thing I have to do is pick up some meds but that can wait until tomorrow.
@Uncle Willie, your photo is beautiful, you can't tell it was taken with a phone camera. Today's phones are simply amazing when it comes to being able to take pictures.
I hope everyone has a good day. Stay safe and warm.

When you sometimes travel the backroads, a small slice of history can, and usually does, present itself .. gone are the Glory Days when Old Man River was Americas Superhighway, quickly supplanted by the Railroads .. but, for a brief time, the Mississippi and it's tributaries carried a lot of the Nations traffic, goods and what not ..

The few of these old boats that are left, are generally relegated to the scrap heap of Time ..

We Humans discard and abandon .. it's what we do. From simple items to cars to houses, things just simply get abandoned .. they have outlived their usefulness, there is no longer a need, they become too expensive to maintain, folks move on .. our landscape is littered with the discarded ..

When I see an abandoned building, of which, during this Pandemic, there seems to be a growing number of, I see the hopes and dreams of someone, a family, maybe a Business owner ..

When you walk into these Ghostly spaces, and give it some thought, the walls have witnessed things you will never know, but you can imagine .. joy, heartache, sadness, celebration, the gamut of emotion .. and the walls remain, but the life is gone .. or is it .. ?? Does our essence somehow meld itself into the environment over time .. ??

The old saying, "If walls could talk .." is a truism, because they have witnessed .. you can let your mind drift and think of what may have been, but those silent walls know all ..

When I look at this, I imagine a vibrant schoolyard from days of old, kids playing, kids learning, teachers teaching .. but, eventually, it was discarded, left to Mother Nature and to eventually disappear from the landscape .. they moved on .. the bell no longer rang out ..

I think, eventually, everything runs it's course .. there is no real permanence .. at best, it's a memory ..

This photo is a real, unretouched photo I took at Lacledes Landing in downtown STL .. the historic warehousing and shipping hub in days long gone .. where the Riverboats would dock and unload .. is it a Ghost Carriage .. ?? Is it just camera trickery .. ??

why does the 2ml suck Fran…or anyone else? Asking because I was thinking about getting one or two…or maybe Zenith…but the 4ml are too big around for my mods. 22mm is max.
I guess no one had an answer for me but I thought I'd give it one more try.

Willie...this photo brought back memories of the time, years ago, that me and a good friend went to New Orleans and did a tour on a river boat similar to this one...except it was much larger. We were there for three days...ohh,...the Cajun music, the accent, the cordiality of the people...

    the FOOD!!!!:D:wub:

Good morning, All. I hope everyone is having a good day so far. Not much happening today. I'm heading out in a few to pick up some meds at the pharmacy. We are scheduled to receive up to 13" of snow starting tomorrow and running through Wednesday. The biggest part to be Sunday through Monday. I'm not going anywhere when I get back from the morning errands. Stay safe and warm.

If they drive their boats onto dry land, it's no wonder not many are left.

    Hola .. :) .. Colda .. ;)

Old Man River ebbs and flows, sometimes even changing direction .. here is a regulation hopper barge, which was used to haul everything from grain to scrap iron .. the Mississippi is off in the distance behind the tree line .. during droughts or directional changes, stuff, even big stuff, ends up sometimes on land .. and, if you ever want an adventure in discovery, hit the Banks of the Mississippi at the peak of a drought, when land is exposed that rarely sees sunshine .. bring a metal detector ..

I spent two fondly remembered years in Nawleans .. in a cheap walk up apartment in the Treme with one of the most beautiful and passionate woman I've ever known ..

Sometimes, when a memory like that creeps back into my head, I think I was always happiest when I had little to nothing and lived on a shoestring .. Worldly goods are like the chains of Jacob Marley ..

A very close friend of mine of over 45 years passed this week .. I was able to visit him before the cancer finally took him .. when we were younger, Davy was a hard charging, robust, devil may care raconteur .. it's quite difficult to see someone end up a thin shell of themselves ..

It reminded me that, when the Reaper calls for me, let it be fast, let it be painless .. or call whoever is filling in these days for Dr. Kevorkian ..
