Many years ago hubs idiot dr. treated him for everything from heart disease to heart burn. With his 185lbs down to 140 (Couldn't eat or drink anything) and in extreme pain he went to the emergency room.Took the ER doc. about a 1/2 hour to diagnose him with pancreatitis. 2 days from dead the dr. said. Loaded him up with IV's and put him in a room.No food and nothing to drink. Just crushed ice. Day 2 brought pudding for lunch and soup for supper. Day 3 he was home pain free. Went though this 3 day hospital stays 3 times when he refused to go. Takes 5-6 days to get rid of the pain at home cause ya gotta eat something. Herbalist friend said start taking cat's claw so I got some. One Cats Claw capsule everyday and the attacks subsided.Little by little he got to eating normal again. By then he had gone to a specialist and got the enzyme pills to digest his food. It was over a year before he even tried to drink a beer. This is a mild attack compared to the first ones.

Well at least somewhat under control. As well as we can do at home. I too hope it subsides quickly.

I don't usually make a posts so long. Never learned to type..........LOL
LOL....I learned to type....but fingers don't obey me anymore....so it's all 'hunt and peck' now...;)

It's often harder when those we care about are in pain than if we were dealing with it within ourselves...

Been busy as hell but, I wanted to stop in and let you all know I'm ok. I've got an appointment on Monday with the pulmonologist so hopefully he will help me with my breathing which has been kind of rough lately. More later. I'll try to check in tomorrow. Miss you all.:)

So glad you stopped in. We miss you and hope the doc can get you straightened out quick!

Sheesh doctors???? I am having the same sort of problems. My VA PCP doesn't seem to be happy unless she has me worried about one form of cancer or another. Going to see the civilian Oncologist tomorrow and get his opinion. Because my prostate glowed some in PET scan she is sending me to a Urologist for a prostate exam also a Pulmonologist because I have COPD DUH? I smoked heavy for 45 years what do you expect. When you have prostate problems don't you have trouble ....... Never had a problem with that. She just keeps up getting me all upset then the others say don't worry about it we'll keep checking. Like my nephew said stay away from doctors they'll kill you. Ishould add I smoked the most when it wasn't bad for you according to BT.

Not necessarily. However most prostate cancer doesn't require treatment in older folks. Only a couple are fast growing while most are so slow growing if your over 70 you'll be long gone before the cancer will kill you. Least that's what I've heard for many years. Only when your prostate is enlarged does it make it really hard to pee. Those are the folks that Liberty Medical is advertising their catheter assortment too. Jeez, they'll advertise anything these days.:rolleyes:

My DH has an enlarged prostate. Has been getting his PSAs checked every year since he turned 50, 20 years ago. His numbers at times have been so high his urologist thought he might have prostate cancer so DH had a biopsy done 3 different years because of this. All were negative but his doc told him what you said David about it being slow and not treating it if you're over 70.

Legs DH's prostate was only somewhat enlarged when it caused him diffuclty in urinating but also when he felt the need to pee it had to be right NOW or he might pee on himself. Urologist has since put him on some drug that helps shrink and relax his prostate so urinating is more normal again.

Bottom line is men should religiously have their PSA tested every year after age 45 or 50, depending on who you ask. My hub's values were steady normal for the first 10 years so when they jumped so high of course we all thought cancer. The values have remained high for these past 10 years but no cancer.

Well I will ask him tomorrow what he thinks and the exam from what I've read is not that big of a deal now a biopsy doesn't sound like fun at all. But they even seem concerned about me having a biopsy on my nodules. So I will know a lot more tomorrow. I think that Chaudry feels the same way about my lungs, like I might not have long enough to worry that much about a 1.4cm nodule.
