Meet Me in St Louie Louie
So, a comfy chair, coffee and vape while I watch the grass grow ;)

Hola .. :)

Well, a good portion of yesterday was spent on a stake out of my dog .. I let it out in the backyard and observed it as it attempted to find any possible hole in my fence with which to escape from .. I secured each spot as it happened and then continued to observe until I was satisfied with the result .. I think I finally secured any and all areas that allowed the weasel to squeeze thru .. It's amazing how small a hole a small dog can squeeze out of ..

Left it out for several hours with no issues, other than it likes to bark at about anything ..

Winning .. :)

When we lived in California, I had a Lab that loved digging under the fence. I wound up digging a trench along the fence line, only about 4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. I mixed concrete and just put about 2 inches in the bottom of the trench then covered the cement with the dirt from digging the trench. She would try digging under the fence and when she hit the concrete, she didn't like the feel of the concrete on her front paws and claws. No more digging under the fence. No one knew about the concrete after the grass grew.

I went to a noon meeting today. It was a great meeting, and I met a couple of new people. I was also presented with my 36-year coin. On the way home I stopped and did some grocery shopping. I hit the jackpot!

Good evening folks. Had a pretty good day with Brody once Kate pealed him off of her when she went to work. Took him 20 seconds to start playing. After we played for awhile he fell asleep on the couch. When Kate got home from work she picked Hux up from school, we grabbed something to eat and headed to soccer practice. Wow, was i impressed with the coach. He had a bunch of 5 year olds actually listening to him. After some drills they had a scrimmage and actually scored some goals! They all loved it and so did I. Kate is putting them to bed now so I'm sitting here with a nice glass of wine and a vape.

@Diver9543 congratulations on your 36 years! That is quite an accomplishment! Very impressive!

@Uncle Willie @Diver9543's suggestion of the concrete footer reminds me of what we had to do back in our wild bird rehab days to keep raccoons from digging into the bird cages on the property. They smelled any food in there provided for the birds we were preparing for release…dog food, seeds, mice, etc. we used 1 foot wide chicken wire folded into an L shape lengthwise then attached this to the bottom of the cages all around on the outside of the cages so that the horizontal part of the L was flat on the ground butted against the fence and the vertical part was against the fence. We then attached the top of the vertical to the fence and pushed some upside down U-shaped stakes through the horizontal part to keep it flat on the ground. We threw some soil on it and done.

When a raccoon of other creature tried to dig in they of course tried to do so right up against the fence on the ground and hit the L-wire.

The same thing on the inside of your yard your dog would do the trick. A bit of work, cheap and effective, and last for years.

It was two weeks ago yesterday that I stopped vaping after my surgery. I still don’t think about it or need it. Very strange. I won't mind if this continues for sure although I never, ever thought I would stop.

I’m not giving away anything for a long time…months? A year? I feel like if I do I’ll jinx myself.

Morning, all.

Rain continues, although said to taper off during the day. Blustery winds here, with the rain, so more branches to gather while the grass grows...

I went to a noon meeting today. It was a great meeting, and I met a couple of new people. I was also presented with my 36-year coin.

Congrats, Diver, that's even better than being a non-smoker!!

* * * LONG POST ALERT * * *

Yesterday morning (after I had only been asleep for 2 hours) dad decided to get out of bed before he woke up. Bless his heart. The first time this has happened. He rolled off the bed in his sleep. He evidently cut his ear on the corner of the bedside table. Head wounds bleed rather freely and he is on Coumadin so picture a crime scene from CSI.

I called Mediq Urgent Care and they said sure they could stitch him up. As soon as they took off my rather impressive bandage, they said they would call the emergency room and tell them I was on the way. So here we go again. (you may remember several years back I had to take him when he was having a heart attack)

I was thankful the doctor had a wonderful sense of humor. When he asked me what happened I told him Mike Tyson was his BFF. unnamed.gif The doctor said the only time he had seen torn cartlidge in an ear was from a man who was trampled on by a bull.

Dad had a dermatology appointment yesterday afternoon and refused to let me reschedule so I had to take him there looking like he had just had brain surgery. That doctor froze a couple of places and cut off one he said looked cancerous.

So when people tell me I am tough as a $2 steak. . . I can tell them exactly where it comes from. unnamed.gif

Dad is doing great and I got my coffee without having to put on my big girl panties. coffe.gif It's going to be a good day!

Good afternoon people! It's a chilly 57 and overcast here in DE. Not complaining though since it's not snow or ice!

Oh my what a difference in our little Brody this morning! He woke up happy and cooperative and excited about going to his pre-school. Waking up and finding out he was going to daycare brought on instant tears and bargaining with his mother so he wouldn't have to go. This was a good move to pull him out of there. He's home now and playing quietly by himself - not something that would happen when his brother is home.

I spent the morning pinning up some curtain hems. I told my daughter I'd do it, but I needed some straight pins. She brought me a little wheel with colorful pins arranged in a circle. Very cute except they don't work! They were so rough it was impossible to push them through the fabric and would totally mess up the sheers. Never had that happen! I've had pins for years that didn't do that. They just don't make stuff like they used to!

Geez, I hated to hit "like" in response to your poor father's injury, but you just made it sound so funny. It's good you can find humor in so many things because life sure can throw us some doozies. On a serious note, I hope the tests come back ok.

Wow! That is not the way to wake up. I agree that head wounds do bleed a heck of a lot.

This makes me think that something happened that made him afraid to go there. Has the staff been asked about his behavior?

You are so right about the "doozies". Everyone has them. I just chose the best way for me to handle them. I can get serious when I have to. It is not a pretty sight. unnamed.gif I can go from a sweet little pudgy puppy to a junkyard dog in 0.4 seconds.

He has had many basal and squamous cell cancers removed. This one was very small. He had 25 stitches on the last one that was on hs face. I make sure he wears his cowboy hat outside. But he refuses to wear sunscreen. The wind was blowing really bad when we were getting up that tree limb and his hat kept blowing off. He ended up turning it sideways like O'Rourke in F-Troop, if you remember that old show. Of course, we laughed about it but his hat stayed on. I might get his sense of humor too!

Been raining since after lunch. Gotta get those May flowers ready to go.

Get it? April showers bring May flowers. heehee

Hope everyone is having a great night. I am going to find something other than the depressing news to watch tonight. Maybe find something to binge-watch. The old shows are better than most of the new ones anyway.

Brownies are almost ready to come out of the oven! What a wonderful smell. View attachment 972261
My mother was an excellent cook. She made everything from scratch and her brownies were to die for. I loved the smells that would come from the over. I miss those smells.
