I miss those smells.
If you stop and think about it, it is amazing how a scent, sound, or even an object can make you recall a memory and produce a feeling. Sometimes good, sometimes bad but always amazing. Even posting this has made me feel good. (or it could be the brownie I ate before I went to sleep girl_haha.gif)

Have a happy day.

Geez, I hated to hit "like" in response to your poor father's injury, but you just made it sound so funny. It's good you can find humor in so many things because life sure can throw us some doozies.

Hola .. :)

This is exactly why I started calling Torie 'Erma Bombeck' some years ago ..

Anybody remember Erma .. ?? And, don't forget Andy Rooney, which '60 Minutes' never replaced, likely because he was irreplaceable ..

Not that it matters to anyone but me, that was July 11, 2014. Can you believe it has been that long ago? I bow to the master of storytelling. LaieA_062.gif

I've written fairly extensively in the past about the discovery of my lost Family thru the miracle of ancestry.com and dna matching .. it continues to fascinate and create a small bit of Wonder in my life .. it is an on-going journey and I continue to speak by phone with my Aunt Anita on a regular basis .. in fact, in some ways, that has become a highlight of my week .. she and I have connected so well, it's almost uncanny ..

I continue to gather bits and pieces, faded memories of a time long gone, that I spent a few years in as a small child yet had no memory of .. I wish I could remember, but things that occur in your life prior to the age of 4, I suppose, end up very nebulous, a dense fog that may have effected how things helped shape me early on, yet not any real actual memory ..

Anita will be 91 next month, and, truthfully, she is in a real decline, physically .. so, I'm doing my best to capture what I can ..

I had decided some time ago that I would write a manuscript of some sort, in an attempt to weave a story, because it is such a fascinating tale and needs to be told and preserved .. at any rate, here is what I will use somewhere in that story, originally I thought it might be the intro, but, I don't know ::

"When my Aunt Anita speaks, she has a wonderful blend of German / New York City in her accent. It's hard to define, and you really have to listen to her to get that blend in her lingo. She is very articulate and I don't think I've ever stumped her with a word she did not know. Regardless of her age, she is as sharp as anyone I know and can converse about almost anything when a topic comes up. Spending her early years in Germany and then many years in New York City, as well as being married to a New Yorker somehow magically created this captivating quality. Certainly, I've never known anyone that has that particular blend of cultures in their voice. "

I find all that genealogy stuff so interesting but not sure I will ever shake my tree. My parent never told me much of anything. I have found out more about my parents since my aunt started talking to me four years ago. I will never have all the answers to my questions. I come from a very dysfunctional family. I am not ashamed of that. It is what it is.

Love reading about other people's close families and history though. unnamed.gif

Not sure what is going on with me. I enjoyed a nice and short walk and came in and took a nap. I never do that. I woke up and found dad outside burning brush in his barrel. The man just cannot sit still. I am so glad I did not get that trait from him. unnamed.gif I am glad he feels good and wants to do things but that is also why I never take naps.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

Good morning. Rain, rain, and more rain. At least it's off and on and not steady. Only going up to 54 today so it's not a good day to be outside. Oh well, I've got some curtains to cut down and hem for our daughter so that should keep me busy inside.

Wow! That is not the way to wake up. I agree that head wounds do bleed a heck of a lot.

This makes me think that something happened that made him afraid to go there. Has the staff been asked about his behavior?

Evidently there are 2 kids who like to kick and hit other kids as well as the teacher so some behavioral issues there. Teachers are trying to deal with it, but it's upsetting to him. Also, we think the class is too crowded. Even grown-ups don't do crafts well when seated shoulder to shoulder. We'll muddle through the next 2 months and then summer camps and activities will start. Next year Brody will go to pre-school which is every morning. It was amazing to see him so excited to go to pre-school yesterday morning.

That looks like a great intro Willie! Are you writing the story around her or just introducing her in the beginning?

My parents never told me much about our family history and I never thought of the questions to ask until long after they were gone. Maybe you could ask your Dad open questions, like what was it like where he grew up or what was he doing when you were born. In his telling I'm sure other questions will come to light. Go for it! You might be surprised at some of his answers. Good, bad or ugly it's still interesting.

I used to get discount coupons on a regular basis from various eateries VIA email, which was nice .. I could print out the coupon if I wanted to, take it with me and use it .. easy, peasy .. or, I would get coupons in the Sunday paper which I would save and sometimes use ..

Whether it was the Pandemic, or whatever it was, now, places seem to all expect you to deal with one of their myriad so-called apps .. which I find to be a pain in the neck, time consuming and sometimes just plain confusing .. and, to boot, they seem to want you to actually pay for your food in advance in these apps .. I don't like it, I will never like it and I find it to be a bone headed way to supplant the old, tried and true coupon ..

I like to get a deal, but it should be as simple as possible .. wrangling with an app for 20 minutes is just absurd .. it's bad enough that you have to inventory your stuff when you pick it up .. don't even get me started on the Grubhubs / Doordashes since I would never, ever use those .. yet, it would seem folks think this is a great seismic shift in how we do our eating .. get a clue, pizza has been delivered forever, food delivery is not any sort of new-fangled, Earth shattering idea ..

At any rate, today is National Burrito Day and National Beer Day .. now, that's just a great day, any way you want to slice it .. :) .. so, if you care to take advantage of any deals, here's a link .. however, be warned, I'm sure each and everyone will require a damned app with which to further clutter your phone and provide the Cartels additional ways with which to track your movements and attempt to sell you something .. because, that's progress .. o_O

Burrito Day 2022 deals: Taco Bell, Chipotle, Del Taco have specials (usatoday.com)

I concur with you Willie! (that should make you feel real good) girl_wink.gif

I went to McDonald's after dad's mishap to get him a quick lunch. There is now a kiosk where you can place an order on right in front of the counter that you can order. Do you think I chose the kiosk? sarcastic.gif
