    Good morning, y’all!

We had lots of storms move through last night, luckily they weren’t too bad. The power was out for a half hour or so, but I was going to bed anyway. The other night, the storms were bad enough that I could hear tree limbs smacking the roof as they were blown out of the pine trees. NOT FUN…I just knew there would be a whole tree down on it at some point, but we were spared. There were no leaks afterwards, so I’m hoping all the shingles are still intact.

Speaking of which, I need to hire someone to clean our gutters, since I’m pretty sure they’re clogged with pine needles and debris. I can’t heft our big ladder up against the house by myself (Hubs is a strong believer in sturdy, high quality ladders that happen to weigh A TON). He can’t do it, since he has a tear in his rotator cuff. He has a consultation with a surgeon on Monday. I want him to get better, but he is a TERRIBLE patient. This will be a rough recovery for BOTH of us!

I have lots to do this weekend, so I’m having coffee and trying to decide on where to even start. I wish going back to bed was an option

Hello people. What a gorgeous day we had today. It's 6:00 and still 73 degrees outside with blue skies!! It would be lovely if we had a lot more days like this!

I did spend time inside today though. We bought our daughter a Brother sewing machine a couple years ago for her birthday and she has no idea how to use one, but wants to learn. Can't learn if you don't take it out of the box. So, I did that today to learn how this machine works so I can teach her. Either I can't read instructions or Brother makes things more difficult than they have to be. Maybe that's why it was on such a good sale. Hemming the curtains is going to have to wait until my next 3 day stay.

You are such a good mom / grandparent  I wish I could offer some advice on the sewing machine, but I have zero skills lol.

    Happy Spring days!

Yesterday was the first time since the fall I didn't wear a turtleneck shirt to the office (my office gets cold) and today my husband questioned me as I left for work without wearing a jacket! The bad news is that I'm in the office, with no windows, and don't get out to enjoy the beautiful days. Would someone please do that for me? LOL.

I freeze in my office, too. There is a big vent directly above my head though, so sometimes I feel like it’s worse in the summer because of the AC. I keep a shawl and a sweater in there at all times, and I have a space heater and a small heated floor mat to keep my feet warm in the winter. LOL

I hope you were able to enjoy at least some of that nice weather after work!

My daughter was just offered her dream job with Disney. Great salary, bonuses, stock and she can work remotely for a couple years. Eventually, we do have to relocate back to WA state but that is ok as long as I don't have to drive in that traffic. I will just take Uber if I need to go anywhere.

Wow, that’s fantastic! Congratulations to her!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Dad was having breathing issues so " we" have been in the hospital. He is doing much better since they removed a little over 2 liters of fluid from his lungs. I know how much that is because of the nic I have in the freezer.

Sorry I have been MIA and it is okay if you have enjoyed it. I would, however, appreciate any good thoughts if you have any surplus.

    Have a happy Friday!

I am sending LOTS of mojo, good thoughts, and positive vibes for the both of you. I hope he is back home and feeling better now…if not, hopefully he will be soon!

Dad had an excellent night and morning. We are just waiting for them to discharge him and he is raring to go. His cardiologist just asked him if he had and questions and dad asked if it was alright if he mowed the yard today. See what I have to deal with?

Not sure which one of is happier about going home. It's pretty close.

Thank you all for the good thoughts, it means so much to me.

Cleaning day. All the downstairs rooms have been dusted. Beaking for lunch. Then it's vacuum time, then clean the downstairs bathroom time.

I initially had plans for a fishing day. But what with Janet spending most of today preparing food for tomorrow, I figured better to cancel fishing and clean the house if I wanted to stay on the good side of Janet.

It is getting harder being home today, looking at the food she's prepping and smelling some of what she's cooking ahead of time ... well I can see 'no diet restrictions' for me tomorrow.

My mother was an excellent seamstress, and she was self-taught. She used to make all of the doll clothes for my sisters when they were young. She also made me western shirts that were better than anything that could be bought in a store. When my oldest sister was married, she made her wedding gown.
When I joined the Navy, I was sent to Lakehurst, NJ for training as a Parachute Rigger. During the training, we were also taught the basics of sewing. One of the things they used to teach us how to sew a straight line was using lined white paper. We removed the thread and had to "sew" straight lines on the paper following the lines on the paper. After that, we used cotton duct squares and had to sew the pieces together using 1/4 inch spacing around the outer edges and then up and down the pieces. It wasn't as easy as it sounds but it was great practice. It was one aspect of my job that I hated. When Nancy had problems with her sewing, she would get me to help her out. Just a couple of things that your daughter might try. Sewing a straight line isn't as easy as it appears.

I made a goal to sew my daughter's 1-year-old birthday outfit. Tiny white polka dots on a pink dress with a white pinafore with lace trim. I was so proud of that outfit. After that, I made several little summer bubble outfits for her but it just was not my thing. Dad has an old singer machine but he said the last time he tried to sew some pants that it did not work. Not sure if it is worth fixing or not. I doubt I will ever use it. I have a little tabletop portable that I very rarely use.

I don't know about y'all, but the yellow dust is falling here big time. I came out of the hospital to had to squirt washer fluid on mine so I could see out. I have noticed a bit of change in my sinuses but we will see when I mow just how bad it is. Vala_25.gif
