1st major dislike ... the watched threads shows all my watched threads not just those with new entries. I have multiple pages of watched threads ... do I have to check each page for new entries in all my watched threads. Annoying!
On my PC: I think I got to my starting in the main thread menu and selecting Watched Threads, and then setting a filter to sort descending. After I got that part working, I have to go up to the Forums drop down list and select a watched threads option to get to the same list like we used to get on the old version.

On my Amazon Fire tablet: After I got the PC defaults set, there is menu button in the bottom corner that seems to take me straight to a menu that offers watched threads.

It took a lot of frustrating button clicks to make it work, but I thing this is how I did it.

So where did you find the filter?

First I had to go to the main menu and find a tab for Threads. You will need to toggle the sidebar back on.
Capture top menu.JPG

After you click the threads , it should show a list of all the threads, and a sidebar item for filters.

When you find the lower part of the sidebar, there are tick boxes for the filters. I selected watched threads and sort by last post date and descending. then saved. If it works, you should then get to click a new top menu under forums (click the red down arrow) that looks like this.

When you get the new menus working, you can toggle the sidebar back off and get the wider view screen.

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
When I went to College, I used the G.I. Bill .. and, I worked a job as well .. I never owed a nickel at the end of it all, and I don't even know if Student Loans were a thing back in those days ..

I appreciated the fact that Uncle Sam offered me the opportunity .. would I have gone if I did not have the G.I. Bill .. ?? I don't know, but I'm sure the odds would have been less ..

Speaking as a person who has never had anything handed to them (OK, sure, I got those various stimulus checks over the years) .. but I never asked for, nor was I ever offered a leg up by either my Parents or anyone else .. I figured I earned the G.I. Bill and that's it ..

So, I have to say, I lean against giving folks something they knew full well what they were getting in for when they signed the papers .. i.e. a Student Loan ..

IMO, there is already way too much of the 'entitlement philosophy' that pervades our Society as it is .. Young People, IMO, are in many cases, brought up to believe they are somehow 'special' .. when they are no more special than the next person ..

You have to learn to make your own way in this life .. the person you must rely upon the most is the one that looks back at you in the mirror .. I don't know if that lesson is being taught now-a-days .. but it should be ..

Prove you are Special .. earn that and make it your own ..

Otherwise, you're just another wannabe poser that expects to be the next big Social Media star ..

And, as an Addendum :: I'd like to know just how many of these Young People cruised thru college getting that 'Dream Degree' in some BS field that has way more applicants than it will ever have openings .. and spent more than enough time partying as they spent that Student Loan money ..

Then ended up working at a Starbucks ..

I have two boys that never had an interest in college. One is a TT driver and the other is a logger. My two girls worked while getting the college courses they wanted. One is a light drinker and the other never drinks. They both have office jobs.

Agree. I also grew up at a time when if you borrowed money, you paid it back.

Anyway, if you want to increase college enrollment, the thing to do is pay tuition and maybe expenses in advance. You do not pay for education already received.

My daughter took out loans and owes a ton which she pays regularly. It is crippling debt, though. She now has her dream job with Disney and makes good money but doesn't see a lot of it due to repaying those loans. She works the full time Disney job and 2 part time jobs plus is a single parent with one child being on the spectrum with a lot of developmental issues. I try to help her as much as I can but I don't know how she does it all.

It's possible I might agree with some sort of hardship qualification .. that is, if one does not exist already ..

I just have a hard time with getting forgiven for something that you already got .. maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but if you buy a vehicle and then can't afford to pay the payments, Uncle Sam is not forgiving vehicle loans ..

As I have always stated in the past, any commentary I make is not designed to offend or denigrate anyone or anything .. it is simply my, one man's opinion, of whatever it is I'm writing about ..

My apology if I offended anyone as that was not the intent ..

I have an equal if not greater, beef with those that took Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) money and then had that forgiven .. of which a large chunk went to State and National legislators ..

Willie, I certainly didn't take any offense. You are entitled to your opinion, just like everyone else. I could easily become resentful of that program or other things but I choose not to. I attended college with the help of scholarships, worked 3 jobs, single parent and took out very little in loans. Not looking for sympathy but young folks now cannot understand how it was for me back in the day.

I remember my first quarter at community college, I barely had enough money to pay for books and gas to get to school. I managed to get a tuition waiver or wouldn't have been able to attend. When all of the other students went to the cafeteria at break time, I stayed in the classroom because I couldn't even afford a cup of coffee. I managed though, made the President's list and kept at it.

I am not sure the young people of today have that mentality or could make it without a lot of help. Not sure what the answer is, either.

    Thanks,

I followed your instructions and now when I go to my watched threads they are sorted depending by post time. But it's still a mix of bolded (unread) and not bolded (read) threads. The unread threads are not grouped at the time. Is this about the best that can be done or is there a trick yet to get the unread watched threads grouped at the top of the list.

My list looks like it stays sorted by post times, and changes from bold to regular after I read the thread. If I skip around, I get the holes, but I usually read from the bottom up and don't really notice it so much. I had not tried to make it keep the unread ones on top.
