Medieval fiction based on the Plague Pandemic in Europe / 14th Century .. may sound a little dry, but it's anything but ..

Thanks for the recommendation. I put it on my Amazon book list, that way I'll remember to download it from the library for free. Work is too crazy now so I can't sit down and enjoy it.

@Bea-FL sending healing thoughts. The DH was asking about you and was concerned, rightly so as it turned out. Fortunately, you've got good medical care and a wonderful hubby too.

I'm about 50 pages into Karen Maitland’s 'Company of Liars' .. as with most new books and authors I've never read before, it takes a few pages to kind of get into the style, however, I am now firmly moving along and it is quite gripping ..

Sounds like my kind of reading except it ends abruptly. Is there a book 2?

I’ll keep that in mind. Picked up 8 yard sale books over the weekend.

I've always had a bunch of books on the shelf waiting to be read because I have a little panic if another one isn't ready and waiting before I finish the one I'm reading. I should have bought that shirt I saw once that said "So many books, so little time!".

@Rat2chat2 Hey Tori, how are you doing? (How do you spell your name? Tori or Tory?)

It's Torey. I have never liked that name personally. I keep saying I am going to change it when I start my new journey but I haven't found one that struck my fancy. I am still miffed that all that money I paid the divorce attorney did not include changing my name.

agree with you. I finally stopped downloading books on my Kindle when it got to 800 and something. I delete them after I read them unless it is one I will read again. I know a lot of people do not like electronic books but I do. I borrowed a series of hard-back books from my cousin and my thumbs reminded me how much.

`Good evening to all.
I had problems the last time I took my pistols to the range. 45 and 40 S&W were not good. The 22s were great but not easy to conceal. I have been reading a lot and decided to get the Ruger LCP II in 22LR. I'm going to the range on Thursday, so I will let you all know. It is all about shot placement. I know a few people who have been shot, and not one of them said, "oh a twenty-two shoot me again."
Hi Willie, have you thought about taking in a few instruments on consignment? Just a thought.

We figure if they do find something that causes the buyers to back out we're positioned well to list it as originally planned.
Once you know about radon presence you are bound by law (most places) to disclose it in listings. Fortunately, radon mitigation is relatively cheap. Basically, you cut a hole through the basement floor and put in a little exhaust fan to keep the soil below the foundation and floor at a very slight negative pressure.

Morning, all.

Still running the same weather guess, and, dang it, they've been right. Hot and dry. :(

Well, at least no floods. Hope everyone in that path is safe!

I still sit in both camps. :) No longer have to take paper ones when we go shopping, since the phone is with me. (Geek type places and book stores are pretty much the only places I "browse", generally I know what I need, get it, done. Spouse, not so much ;) )

I've completely switched to Kindle App on iPad from printed books (although I still have over 20,000 books boxed up in my barn since the move).
I don't know if you are really deleting those books or just archiving them. If you are archiving them, Amazon keeps them in your account and you could re-download them again - they're yours just like a printed book. (This assumes that they are actual Kindle books acquired through Amazon.) Amazon tells me that I can even leave them to somebody when I die. It is possible to truly delete a book from your Kindle account if it is something you really don't care to have any association with. (I have actually deleted only two of the thousands of book I have bought through Kindle. Just junk, really.)
Now, e-books that you acquire from other sources are gone when you delete them. You would have to reacquire them from their source if you wanted to reread after deleting.
I don't have to worry much about keeping a stock of unread books on the shelf; I've switched to rereading old favorites about 90% of th e time. It takes a really strong recommendation to get me to try new books these days (in comparison to 30 years ago when I would buy any books that sounded even remotely interesting). I used to go into Borders (a now-defunct very large bookstore) every month or so and fill a shopping cart or two ($600-$1000 - about the same as my then 4 pack a day habit). My book budget is now about equally divided between new e-books and e-copies of books I already have in printed form.

Hola .. :)

Well, Janet, I don't know of a Book 2 .. I thought it was a stand-a-lone story ..

I, too, keep a stash of books ready to get to when done with one .. I am also a 'paper person', having tried a reader or two and finding them just not my style .. although, I am happy we've progressed beyond the scroll .. ;)

I did just come off a James Patterson jag, simply because his material is generally a fast read, does not require heavy thinking and you can check your brain at the door .. that can be refreshing, at times ..

On a side note, if you have AppleTV+, I cannot recommend 'Black Bird' any more highly or 'For All Mankind' .. in fact, AppleTV+ contains a wealth of great viewing material ..

Let me see if I can get you some free months ::

Go here and sign up for a Target Rewards card ::

Target Circle™ Partnership

Then, activate the 4 months AppleTV free deal ..

Then, go here ::

Apple

and Redeem the Apple Offer ..

In a perfect World, you now have 7 months of free AppleTV+ .. my experience with the above offer requires that it be done in that order or you will not get the full meal deal(s) ..

@clnire How are you doing? This sounds really strange to say, but I hope your groin is healing up for you. Hopefully you're feeling better in general too.
Thanks for asking Janet. I am fine. They found nothing major wrong, just a few minor things that are not of concern. After 3 months of wondering (from the first notice there was something wrong with my heart), it is quite a relief to find out nothing is wrong! Any plaque buildup is minor and can be handled with meds. My Dr already changed my prescription last May, I go back for a checkup (with blood draw) in September.

I read his stuff, too, and for exactly the same reasons.

Dang I had a mod go bad. Well, I might have helped it to fail. I dropped it onto a hard surface and few days before I noticed the problem ... that could have caused it.

It's an Asmodus Colossal 80w mod. I picked it up and it wouldn't fire. hmmm, did the 5 click thing and it didn't turn on either. Took out the battery and it measured .6 volts. That's not good.

Put in a new fully charged batt and 5 clicks turned it on. Then after the 3rd vape it put up a temperature over limits error message. And it was, I could feel the bottom of the mod was very warm. Popped the batt and did it once again, same result. But I left the batt in and just held the mod for 10 or 15 seconds. The longer I held it the warmer it got.

That's it, it's cooked. Took out the batt and set it aside. Shame it died as I liked it. So I've got an ad in the 'wanted' forum hoping someone has a black one they are willing to give up and sell me.

I just hope I didn't kill it by using the USB port for charging. Asmodus recommends not using the port for charging just for firmware updates. But I'm just too lazy to pull the batt out for charging even thought it's quite easy.

I can't go back to sleep. Yesterday I found out more about my condition and just how close I came to dying.

I found out because my daughter's concerned about me going back to work a few hours a week. I know she's broke and under a lot of pressure. I wanted to help.

I'm only working a few hours. But, working for my brother tends to be stressful. He doesn't want me for the simple, everyday stuff. He wants me for the stressful, harder to do stuff that he has trouble doing. Things like sorting through and making copies of legal papers, or organizing all the files and taxes.

I just want to answer the phone, answer emails, and hang out with the customers!

So, this might not work after all. After talking to my daughter, I'm scared. I need to start being more careful and taking it easier.

OK. Got that off my chest. Let's try sleep again. (crossing fingers)

1st major dislike ... the watched threads shows all my watched threads not just those with new entries. I have multiple pages of watched threads ... do I have to check each page for new entries in all my watched threads. Annoying!

Rerun weather continues for at least another day. But no floods, and no big new fires, so we'll not complain. (Much.)

Probably the drop, Mike. Since you've used on-board charging for, I suspect, some time without issue. Hope your search is productive!

Yeah, the drop down off "Forums" (top left) doesn't have an option for threads watched with new posts. But, for me, they DO show up bold, threads without new posts are not. Still not as friendly...

Hola .. :)

Fumbling, stumbling .. took a minute to reorient ..

You know, they say change is good ..

At any rate, had my 6 month checkup at the VA yesterday and it appears I should be around for another 6 months .. still, after many years of trying, unable to get my DR to script any of the good pain meds .. sigh ..

I reminded him that I rotate ibuprofen and Aleve .. he told me that double the dose that's on the bottles should still be OK for me .. yee ha .. ;)
