Yes, there is that!

Trying to get outside stuff done before the heat, and almost made it.

Being going through 'stuff' in the basement. It shouldn't be hard to dispose of 'stuff' you forgot you had or haven't used in the past 10 years ... but it is for me. I'm not a 'hoarder', just a 'keeper".

Once upon a time I paid money for that piece of 'stuff' now I'm supposed to throw or give it away. Doesn't compute in my brain but I'm trying.

Good morning. Only going up to 82 today with less humidity. As soon as last nights rain dries out it looks like a good day to do the touch up painting on the deck. Gotta make suet, clean out the hummer feeder and go pay our taxes. Also, I think there's clothes resting in the dryer for 2 days that should get folded.

Guess I waited a bit too long to bring the bird feeder in last night. The young raccoon was feasting at the feeder again. I made a lot of noise and he just looked at me as if to say, "What's the matter with you?". Took his good old time leaving. Cute little guy, but that seed is for the birds!

Morning, misfits.

Another day in the oven. Yesterday we tied the "official" record of days of 90+, at 12. May break the record today. Not the kind of record I like!!

Yeah, the "hmm, I might need this" syndrome. Pernicious malady!! And yes, I have it, too ;)

Hola .. :)

There have been times I was tempted to enter a 12 Step Program .. yet, it's really surprising, to me anyway, that, at times, something 'kept' becomes something useful ..

When you do have that happen, the toughest part is 'Now, where did I put that .. ??' .. Then, you spend good time looking for something like an old AOL disc (it's an example ..)

Yet, Mike, I always figured you to be the most organized Man on the Planet ..

Deal of the Day ..

Morbid .. ?? Maybe .. however, if your plan is Cremation, why not save some real shekels as you exit this World and stash your Cremation Urn now .. just a thought but at $21 clams and change, it's a deal and has to beat whatever the Funeral Home is charging ..

I far from the most organized Man on the planet ... but I usually know where-abouts what I'm looking for is.

Now, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, that stuff is definitely going to the new digs ..
Now that would be absolutely F'ing correct. There are dozens and dozens of high quality rooster necks and capes that cost anywhere from $40 to $120 each. That's the most costly fly tying part of fly tying. That stack of plastic boxes should have it's own insurance policy. The capes along with the other materials ring up to a few thousand bucks. But then I acquired them over a 40 year period.

A serious tier has a fair amount of money invested in materials and is likely to have a better stock and assortment of feathers than most fly shops.

A pair of Lady Amherst Center tail feather brings $50. 10 substitute Indian crow feathers (not even the real deal) will cost about $20 and the feathers are less than 1/2 the size of your small finger nail. Or how about a pair of center tail feathers from a Golden Pheasant for $40.

And then there's the collection of Kori Bustard feathers that you can't buy (endangered species and all that). But I have a contact that has an in with zoo's across the country and he gets them from the zoo's in return for donations to the Kori Bustard Society which is a group trying to protect the birds. He's pretty particular about who he passes those feathers along to. Whoa to him who trys to re-sell them on Ebay. John will track him down and report him to the authorities for dealing in endanger species bird feathers. It happened once or twice.

If you get into tying the classic flys with quality material this is not an inexpensive hobby.

Good evening, all. I joined a nutrition group. It is a part of Meals on Wheels. I am mobile so I don't qualify for Meals on Wheels. It's not that bad and the fellowship is excellent.

I am just now beginning to be able to type. My doctor said it is carpal tunnel and now a solution if I want to go through the knife and follow up with physical therapy. One of the downsides is that I cannot handle the recoil of any of my personal defense pistols. I did a lot of reading reviews and the pros and cons and decided on the Ruger LCP 2 in 22LR. It is low recoil, and I can pinpoint shot placement. The LCP 2 is excellent and easy to conceal, a true pocket pistol. I know that a lot of people think that the 22LR is not good for personal defense, but anything is better than nothing.

Yes, there is that!

I will need to go cut down the weeds in my yard. The little bit of rain we got and green is starting to show its ugly head.

You could get a pellet pistol and after a few pellets in its hind legs, he might decide to move on down the street. I would recommend one that you pump so you can regulate how hard it hits. I actually have this one and it is excellent .
Crosman P1377BR American Classic Multi Pump .177-Caliber Pneumatic Pellet Air Pistol, Brown
Crosman. Just my 2 cents.

Morning, misfits.

More heat, no rain. Yesterday was cooler than the day before, 87 versus 88... gee, thanks. Similar for a few more days, then cooler but still no rain.

My doctor said it is carpal tunnel and now a solution if I want to go through the knife and follow up with physical therapy.

Here's a "maybe" for you. Some years back I was facing a similar situation, although in my right elbow. Same choices from the doc, live with it or surgery. Through a really odd sequence of events, I wound up trying apple cider vinegar (with the "mother", and shake well before pouring) and honey, about a tablespoon of each in glass of water, daily or twice daily. (Tastes sort of like sweet 'n sour going down.) As a "homeopathic" remedy, the word is to give it at least a couple months, but I noticed marked improvement in about one. While the claims for cider and vinegar seem to be pretty extensive, I do know that that's the only change I made (was still working, for years after I started it) was the vinegar, and for me the issue is gone. No knife. :)

Seems the new board muffed that second quote, that's from Janet ;) I do have a CO2 powered BB pistol, mostly for stray dogs ;) Yep, the stinger gets the message across !

Speaking of whom, how's the house hunt?

My problem with getting rid of things is that I tend to ask myself, "How much would it cost me to replace this object if I suddenly developed a need for it in the future?" This tends to inflate the value of junk made of exotic materials.
