Cool nights and, for a couple, warm days. Maybe reach 80 today and tomorrow, then back to early fall :)

So, still watering, still gathering up the fresh cuttings, bonfire next month :)

Good morning all. Sheesh, yesterday the battery on the yard tractor died. So this morning's activities include going to get a new one and finish mowing what I started yesterday. It's kind of a double bummer, 1st just having to buy one and 2nd depending where we move I may not even take this 5 foot deck tractor along to the new 'abode'. We've got 3+ acres now and I'm looking for a house with about 1/2 acre property so this tractor may be overkill for that size yard.

Morning, misfits :)

Clear and sunny here, again. May even make it to 80, still no rain in the guess.

Well, a 5' deck on a 1/2 acre yard should get the task down to about 15 minutes ;)

If you wind up not needing it, might the new owners want to buy it from you?

Town run is on the agenda for the day, Still trying, years on, to figure out which is worse, the big shop, or the putting it away!

Meet Me in St Louie Louie
Hola .. :)

Got home late last night .. mentally somewhat refreshed, physically tired .. slept in this AM ..

Nashville was, as it generally always is, a great place to visit, just likely not the greatest place to live .. I've been there so many times, I know how to avoid the traffic, but still, sometimes you have to hit the Interstates and it can be brutal .. you've got I-65 North and South, I-40 East and West, and I-24 East and West that all converge, so most times of the day, don't get in a hurry if you're near any convergence ..

Bunked at a buddy and his wife's home .. spent some time on Music Row, blah, blah, blah ..

Sunday night, he pulled up a documentary called 'My Name is Lopez' .. it's on the ROKU channel for free and it turned out to be very interesting .. I was never a big fan of Trini Lopez, always saw him as a guy that mostly did covers and added a Latino flavor to them, thus getting a hit record ..

The documentary was very good and very eye opening for me .. Lopez himself tells his story, etc .. it was done just before Lopez passed of the Covid in his early eighties .. he was amazingly animated for his age ..

After we finished watching it, cracked open some cold ones and a couple guitars and did a very bad version of 'Lemon Tree' ..

Everything Ken Burns does is awesome. I haven't watched the first episode of 'The US and the Holocaust' just yet. IIRC from an interview I read, it's 3 episodes. Wish I could remember where I read the interview. Ken talked about the far right fascist threat our country faces and offered some interesting parallels re the Nazi's. The man is very intelligent.

When you do watch, (and I only viewed episode 1) .. although no overt Political statement is made as it relates to today, I think you'll notice it's easy to draw parallels from then and now .. it was for me, anyway ..

On the DVR, but haven't gotten to it yet. Yep, pretty much anything Burns does is worth the watch. And much is worth watching more than once.

Good evening, all. I've been busy trying to maintain normality in the rat race of my life.
This evening I had to make a speed run to the Neighborhood Market. I made the last cup of coffee so I had to get a bag of coffee beans. $80+ later and I came home.
I'm not a big eater of candy bars. When I do have one, I have a weakness for the Payday bar. I was lucky today and they had the Chocolatey Payday bars. Weakness won out. A limited-edition Chocolatey Payday bar came out a couple of years ago, and the demand was enough that they have added it to their lineup.
I have joined a group of seniors for the Oklahoma Nutrition Program. We get lunch for $2.00, and it isn't all that bad. It is more nutritious than I would fix for myself at home. There are only 6 - 10 people in the group and they are quite lively. We eat lunch and solve all the problems of the world.
I think I can now go to bed and get some rest.
Welcome home Willie

Glad you had fun. Isn't Nashville a trip? Heaven forbid you are in the wrong lane at a convergence, you will be headed to NY or somewhere. The only times I have been there was for the airport and medical appts. Still, it is nowhere near as bad as Seattle.

@Uncle Willie Glad to hear you had a great trip. Isn't it nice to have a trip like that to look forward to each year!!

Yep, we have considered the possibility of our buyer needed a bigger lawn tractor once he moves here. Mike was saying he wants to warn him that he should have ear protection and the helmet is a great protection from branches. Mike has gone through at least 2 pair of glasses from scratches and he's now wearing hearing aids.

Yeah I agree with the 2 part shopping chore. Feels great to know the shopping is done and then you get home and have to unload and organize everything.
    ______________

Our daughter's community organizes a Bunco night once a month and has been trying to schedule a time for us to go together. Well, tomorrow is the day! Everybody brings something to eat so I looked up a new apple quick bread recipe that I'll make today. Looks pretty easy and should be delicious. Gotta use up these apples. They're so good compared to the apples we've been getting at the grocery store this past month. I love it when apple season finally arrives.

Dang, that's some spendy coffee! You get that civet poop stuff?

Still, it is nowhere near as bad as Seattle.

What? You mean 6 lanes down to 2 as you hit downtown is a problem?
Mike was saying he wants to warn him that he should have ear protection and the helmet is a great protection from branches.

Well, most power equipment does say in the manual (that, of course, nobody reads) that hearing protection is recommended. But yep, a reminder doesn't hurt!

    Darn.

Good morning. Only going to 73 today with possible T-storms this afternoon.

I'm headed to our daughters house this afternoon. We're going to a neighborhood house to play bunco - whatever that is. She says it's fun and has been trying to get me to go with her for months. Since Mike's car is in the shop for some body work we're meeting 1/2 way to hand me over to her like divorced parents do when handing off their kids. I gotta make the apple quick bread this morning to take to Bunco before we leave and also need a quick run to the grocery store. Busy day.

    Morning, all.

Still dry here, but nice temps.

Fall is sure in the air here, down to 44 last night. Our "indian summer" may have just been done, with two days near/at 80 :)

At least, since the growing season is about done, the water bill will go down.

    Hola .. :)

I'm not that much into candy bars these days either .. since I went from 220 down to 179, my general appetite has decreased correspondingly .. it almost feels weird to not pig out anymore, but my stomach just can't handle it like it used to .. when I was in Nashville over the weekend, we went to a very nice all you can eat buffet and I just could not do it justice .. in fact, I felt like I ripped myself off based on what the price was and how much I actually ate .. back in the day, I always would say 'They lost money on me .. ' o_O

However, I do like the classic Payday .. in fact, with most all things in life, I like the classic, original versions ..
