I went shopping for brown shoes to go with an outfit I was wearing on my date tonight and came home with 3 more pairs. I have never bought 3 pairs at the same time. I just couldn't make my mind up and they all felt so good. 2 pairs were on sale. One pair was 80% off. I may be crazy but I'm not that crazy,

I do need to stop buying shoes though. I've bought more in the last month than I have in the last 30 years. I got some HAPPY FEET!

Yes, apparently the shoes should match the outfit. When I was working, I had a boss that didn't like my brown belt with black shoes. I couldn't take his advice seriously. I mean, here's this guy wearing a very nice John Henry shirt, coupled with an old pair of pants with cargo pockets. Like, I'm going to take fashion advice from him?

Yes, in my world they do! heehee

When I was a loan officer, I would wear bedroom shoes to and from the bank so my shoes always look clean and new. I kept black, blue, and brown shoes under my desk so each morning I would get out the appropriate shoes for my outfit. Then I would open my bottom desk drawer where I had a set of insulated coffee mugs to which I would use the color that matched my outfit that day. When I took my breaks I also matched my Bic lighters to the day's ensemble.

I have always had "issues" but they were only mine. I have been this way for as long as I remember. But, if you wanted to wear a mismatched belt and shoes, it would have been fine with me.

This is a tiny glimpse of what I consider a part of my uniqueness!

I had a non-date with a friend last night. He took me to this church that serves a dinner every Wednesday night. I think it was the biggest church I have ever seen. Someone said they had 3500 members.

We had chicken pot pie, green beans, corn, rolls and banana pudding. It was delicious. I offered to pay for mine since it was a non-date but he would not let me. I let him and I did not feel too bad about it because it was only $5 a plate.

We have stayed in contact but I had not seen him since I moved in with dad. He is even more of a nut than me (if you can imagine that). My cheeks hurt for a long time after he left because I laughed so much. I had a wonderful time and I hope he invites me again. In fact, I may GPS my way there by myself. It was that good!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Morning, all.

Seems we're between fronts atm, and it must be coming from the NW, since it made it down to 36 overnight.

Hmm, spices...

And others. Seems no adverse health issues, just loss of potency.

Thanks for posting those articles. The most important line I read was "a spice that has gone bad is unlikely to make you sick." heehee That was good to know.

I do smell them before I use them and I do wish I could just toss them. Heck, I never thought I'd buy 14 pairs of shoes in one month so maybe today. . . I'll toss spices. It could happen with this new and improved Rat 2.0.

Hola .. :)

True story :: In or around 1975, I bought a fairly large bottle of Mexican Vanilla Extract in Juarez, Mexico .. I can't remember why .. thru all the years, moves, etc, I still use that vanilla and there is about half a bottle left ..

Maybe I should list it on Etsy ..

Wow, you beat me by a long shot! I think my oldest ones were about 8 years old. We haven't gotten sick yet but I did notice I use more than the recipe calls for which either means my taste buds are going or the spices are just tired.

Enough chit chat, back to packing. Our daughter is coming tonight to help us load up for a trip to her house tomorrow. We have to organize her garage a bit to fit our stuff in. At this rate we won't need the movers and her house is going to look like hoarders live there.

That would fit with them just, well, getting stale. Then again, various other body parts do seem to be going, as well.

I would speculate that the longevity of my Mexican Vanilla Extract may have something to do with the alcohol content ..

I use it mainly in my French Toast coating mix .. which, if you ate enough of it, would likely give you a good buzz ..

My alcoholic grandfather drank vanilla extract all the time when he couldn't afford to buy booze. The extract had to be hidden to keep any around.

So today my project was to pack up food/spices in the kitchen, Am I the only person who almost never checks the expiration dates on herbs and spices? Good grief. I'm going to make it a routine to check on them once a year before I kill someone with herb/spice poisoning - at least that's my plan at the moment.

One of the things I dumped was a bottle of liquid smoke. I dumped it in the sink and of course it splashed so I flushed anything in the sink with lots of water. Still the stink lingered and rinsing again didn't seem to help. What the heck! A half hour later - Oh, no wonder I can still smell it, some must have splashed on me!! Duh!

I remember when I moved out on my own, I was surprised that paprika was red, not a ruddy brown! My mom would never throw out spices, unless they reached the stage where they turned into one big clump in the jar (garlic powder seemed to be especially bad about clumping).

I probably have some stuff in my spice cabinet that could be tossed, but I find I’m really awful about condiments. All my salad dressings, sauces, etc are crammed into a little shelf in my refrigerator door. I’m sure well over half of that stuff has expired. I will find out soon enough…it’s getting close to Thanksgiving, and I need to clean the fridge out to make sure I have room for everything! Which brings me say WOW, I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving already…

Good morning. 39 here, going up to 72.

We're taking 3 vehicles to our daughter's today. Among other things the big plants and some freezer foods will go. It's confusing figuring out what to pack for her house and what will go into storage and what needs to stay here until we leave. At least the weather is cooperating.

Looks like we change the clocks this weekend. Congress still hasn't figured out how to stop that nonsense. It's nice to have that extra hour to sleep in, but then it'll take many more days to adjust to the new times. Sigh.

    Morning, all.

Rain here continues, although the promised deluge is either late or awol.

Yep, "fall back" this weekend. They know how, they just don't give a. :(

I hope you're marking the boxes, to make it easier when you find you need something stored in some other place!

I am not sure if I am just noticing it or if the leaves are more colorful this year. They are gorgeous here in NC. Everyone always travels to the mountain here to see the leaves. I can't imagine they look better there although I am sure the view of so many different trees in one location is breathtaking.

I am so glad that this year I do not have to get up the leaves so many times with the push mower or blow the leaves out of the gutters 3 times a week. I am just going to let them fall and when there is only one or two on the neighbors' trees, I will get back on that Exmark and mulch the heck out of them. It's going to be fun this year.

    Happy Fall/Friday y'all!

Extra hour to sleep? Not with dogs... It takes at least a week to get them on the new schedule, and as you say, for me too!!

Today was a fun and busy day. While I was going through dad's 250+ (I stopped counting after 250) my friend who took me out to eat the other night called and wanted me to go look at furniture with him. I could not believe how much furniture costs nowadays. Sheesh! Glad I'm not the one looking for a sleeper sofa.

Had fun and then he took me to eat chicken. I had not been to Popeye's in years and I really did not particularly like it but today, it was hot out of the fryer and pretty darn tasty. Or I may have just enjoyed it because it was fried and something I rarely eat anymore! Either way, I left stuffed and sated.

Then Terry took me to a gun store where he knew the owner. I talked to them about getting my conceal carry. They have a class on December 1st. It has been on my list of things I want to do for a long time so I am thinking this is a good time to do it.

I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to be invited somewhere and get to tell them yes I can go. heehee The Rat sure is enjoying her freedom!

Blood donation is on tomorrow's agenda. They better not cancel at the last minute this time or if they do, I better get an email telling me I don't have to GPS my way somewhere. heehee

Hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday planned. What's everyone doing? Inquiring minds. . .

We feed our dogs and cats at the same time year round. We don't make them do the wait for an hour thing. It keeps things 'normal' for them.

If they only knew, our pets would think humanz are seriously nuts for changing time twice a year.

I have been sleeping extra hours all week.

I can't wait to get another one. I swear it seems like we just turned them. How come everyone is not like Hawaii and Arizona?

I think I am going to go ahead a jump in bed and get a headstart! I absolutely love sleeping in a bed that is not sixty-something years old. Maybe that is why I'm sleeping better. This king is only half that old.
