We stayed up late and slept late today. Ken's dad said he wouldn't mind having a biscuit. So we took him and Ken's granddaughter (who is 10) to Waffle House. No one ate biscuits though. I ate the senior waffle and the waitress came by and asked if I wanted a free waffle. Now what do you think I said?

It is against all I believe in to turn down anything free.

So this rat is full.

We went to WallyWorld because I needed some Dayquil and Ken needed some taller socks. It is a beautiful day. Only 50 but sunny and it feels wonderful. I took a short walk but have not gotten my steps in. 4000 is better than nothing.

Ken and his dad are watching TV. Who knew they played the old Bob Barker Price Is Right shows? Sheesh! It is kind of funny to see how the prices of things have changed since then.

We are supposed to take his family out to a steak house tonight. I'm still full from the late breakfast so I may just get a salad. We are leaving tomorrow morning for Ken's place. I'm ready. It is so quiet there. I need some chillin' by the Duck River.

I was still full from the late breakfast. So what do I do? We take his dad and granddaughter to Texas Roadhouse for supper. Thank goodness Ken was not crazy hungry so we split the beef tips. Very good and the yeast rolls were excellent. Of course, I've never met a piece of bread that I did not like.

I did take a walk this afternoon but I did not walk long enough to make up for all that I ate today.

Nite to all. Sleep well and have a pleasant Monday.

Good morning all. I guess we will be headed out this morning and that is sad because I have to say adios to the internet. I know I still have my phone but it is not the same to me. I love my laptop.

The weather is just about what we have at home. It's cold. But the sun is out and it is going to warm. We have a three hour drive to where he lives which is not bad at all. Much better than the 8 1/2 to his place when we don't stop to see his dad and daughter.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Good morning. 32 here right now, going up to 41 with lots of sun so maybe some of this snow will disappear today. I really dislike the dirty snow while it's melting so I'm hoping it melts quick.

Yesterday was the annual Daytona 500 race when the guys get together. The host makes a standing rib roast for them with his always wonderful potato salad. Oh yum! Meanwhile the wives got together at another house where the host had ham and cheese sliders which were delicious, cheesy potatoes and salads. And of course the wine was very nice as well. Not only was the food wonderful but it was great to see old friends.

Of course the Daytona 500 was postponed so they didn't get to watch the race. Mike said the host should just play a rerun of last years race, but nobody paid any attention to the tv anyway. Too busy telling each other funny stories.

So much for our diets. I should just put some duct tape over our mouths for the next few days until we get rid of the extra poundage.

Morning, all.

Looks like we're heading to the low 50s here, for the week. Rain chances are slim, but the current guess is a big storm for the weekend. Uh huh.

Mike said the host should just play a rerun of last years race,

And a rerun of the rib roast for today? ;)

It's gone from 6" of snow and an ice layer to a projected high of around 70o today .. time to start the Winter yard debris cleanup ..

Been nosing around for a slightly used pickup .. my 2012 is getting a bit long in the tooth, still a good truck though .. had to put $450 in it a while back but that's a small price to pay considering what even a 2021 similar unit runs these days .. I'd kept hoping prices would come down, but no luck on that yet ..

And, at $70K, I can't even afford to stand near a new one

Yeah, the radical swings are all part of the climatologists forecast. Going to get hard(er) for farmers and those who like food...

And, at $70K, I can't even afford to stand near a new one

Oh, I think we are allowed to stand near them, as long as we stay down wind....

Good morning.

I ordered a cabinet and a bookcase from IKEA and the boxes arrived here less than 24 hrs later! So yesterday we unpacked the bookcase box and the left side panel had a crack in it. Called them and this Swedish company has a help desk in India. Now we don't know if we're getting a replacement panel or a whole new bookcase. Hmmm.

The cabinet pieces look to be fine so Mike put it together yesterday and it looks lovely. Now I have a place to store my yarn and craft supplies.

These furniture pieces are like putting together an adult Lego project. Even the instructions resemble Lego instructions.

Today I'm going to DE to get my haircut. My hairdresser is a good friend who lives close to our daughter so I scheduled the appointment so I can go to our daughter's afterward. I'll stay over tonight and we'll go to a used book sale tomorrow. I love to see the boys get excited picking out books. We have little library boxes around town where you can leave books and borrow whatever books have been left by other readers. We've gotten some good finds in those little libraries. What a great idea!

So now I'm going to go up and change the bedsheets (planned to do that on Monday, but didn't get around to it till now). Then I'll get ready to leave. It's been 6 weeks since my last haircut so that's way overdue too.

By-the-way, anybody heard anything about how Kay is doing?

Well, you're not supposed to look at those until you're done and have left over parts :)

(And I suspect they'll send a whole new unit, doubt they have "spare parts" for anything, short of pulling it out of another package.)
