I know I have been away way too much but I have just been so darn busy lately. Been running back and forth down the highway. Still working on the yard at Perry's and lots of crazy things happening.

The clutch went out on my lawnmower. The part was going to be $655 at the place where Dad bought the mower but a friend of Perry's found one on Amazon for $261. Big savings there. Perry and his son installed it and it is mowing better than ever. Perry LOVES to mow so I am accepting help and letting him do it. I am still doing the trim work like I did with dad and that takes longer to do than the riding part. Of course, I'm not walking 13 miles per hour. View attachment 1014575

A couple of days ago, Perry was mowing his yard and he stopped to tell me I could get his hedge trimmers and his mower backfired. All of a sudden Perry said where is that smoke coming from and there was a big fire behind him. I have never seen that happen. I ran and got a bucket of water and we got it put out. He thinks the motor is still okay but a bunch of plastic that protected it is toast. I am starting to think I am a jinx.

Thank you for noticing my absence! View attachment 1014576
You can't be much of a jinx if you were able to get a deal like that on the clutch. And hey, Perry was mowing HIS yard with HIS mower so maybe he's got the bad luck.

Now that we've got this summer heat wave on us, I hope you find stuff to do inside where it's cool. It's too hot to be working outside. At least it is here and I think it might be worse where you are?

The Northeast is too hot for me. 94 today.
It's a comfortable 89° here this afternoon. Comfortable if you're indoors with A/C that is.

Did some light outside morning chores then mowed the lawn. That was it for outside activity today.

We have a comfortable 90 at the moment that is also comfortable because of AC. I did my morning walk early before it got too hot.

    Must be the day :)

Just in from mowing and some weed whacking. Yup, sun, heat, and my usual bad hips put a stop to it. At that rate, another 3 days might get it done.... as long as I jump on it before the sun comes up ;)

    Oh Willie, that's just ugly.

Our next door neighbor is having 100 people over this Saturday for a graduation party. It's supposed to be 96 degrees. Good thing they've got a pool, but don't think they're going to need that pool heater. We're going to be going to a graduation party at our niece's house and they have a lovely pool too. Guess you know where we're going to be! Maybe they'll bring us food and drink to where I'll be floating.

Good morning all! Yep, it is going to be another hot one today and Janet, I don't plan on trimming any bushes today. Yesterday I dug up one that I did not like at Perry's. I dug up roots and all. Perry told me to make myself at home while he was at work and I never liked where this bush was. It's gone.

He has to go pick up something in another city so he asked if I wanted to go on the MC with him. It will be a nice little ride before it get too awfully hot.

Stay cool and enjoy your day.

I wonder when the politically correct police will get his day banned?

    NATIONAL VANILLA MILKSHAKE DAY

On June 20 each year, National Vanilla Milkshake Day celebrates the cold beverage made with vanilla ice cream, vanilla, and milk.

    #VanillaMilkshakeDay

This frosty drink didn't begin with those three ingredients, though. In 1885, the term "milkshake" showed up in print for the first time. The concoction of cream, eggs, and whiskey was often served with other alcoholic tonics such as lemonades and soda waters.

By 1900, a milkshake often referred to "wholesome drinks made with chocolate, strawberry or vanilla syrups." In these frothy beverages, ice cream was nowhere to be found. However, a few years later in the early 1900s, people began asking for this new treat with a scoop of ice cream. By the 1930s, malt shops were serving milkshakes all over the United States.

    Morning, all.

Warmer today and tomorrow, then back down and maybe some rain for the weekend is still the guess.

The concoction of cream, eggs, and whiskey

Now, that's a vanilla shake I could get behind!

I told Perry if he ever wanted to go somewhere. . . just let me know when to be packed. Well, tonight he called and we are leaving for the beach tomorrow. YAY! I am so excited. I don't know if I forgot anything or not and I don't care. I'll buy down there if I need something.

I left Perry one side of the bike and I filled the rest. It is not a real long trip like when Ken and I took the bike to TN but it is a nice 3 1/2 hour trip. I think he might have wanted to take his Harley but my behind (can't say B U T T) is more comfy on mine.

This is only the second time I have been to the beach in 25+ years and I am looking forward to it. Hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend. Maybe I will be able to post on my phone. If not, I'll catch a Monday or Tuesday.

    Morning, all,

Still above normal here, but soon to be below it again. See saw weather here. Rumors of rain have gone quiet...

This is only the second time I have been to the beach in 25+

They have sand there, keep it out of the chain :)

25 years without seeing the sea? Geez, I can't go a year without seeing the beach and the sea without feeling like something is missing in my life. Of course we live just a few hours from the beach so I'd assume it would be different if we lived inland.

Years ago Mike and I were stopped in California when a car parked next to us and 2 military guys got out. They walked a short way to the beach and the one guy was just blown away seeing the sea for the first time. That was a treat to see.

Good morning. 77 here this morning going up to 95. Too hot! Not a big problem really for us today because we're going to a family graduation party where they have a lovely pool. Looks like we're going to be getting wet today!

The garden is doing great, but some of the fancy lettuce is bolting with this hot weather. We're getting an abundance of Romaine. Lots of tomatoes, but they're all still green. Somewhere I read that the ripening process slows down with the heat. The cukes are finally starting to grow. There were several tiny ones that weren't doing anything for a long while, but yesterday I noticed they finally woke up and are growing and taking over. The bell peppers have lots of flowers, but not producing peppers. I'm already thinking of changes to make for next year.

Good morning. 76 here already going to 95. There's a possibility of T-storms this afternoon. We definitely could use the rain, but hope the winds don't materialize.

Had such a lovely time yesterday at the graduation party. They went all out with an open bar and tons of delicious food. It was like a wedding reception with a gorgeous pool. I definitely ate too much so looks like I should just have salads and water for the next few days to make up for all those calories.

Today is going to be a lazy day for us. Phils play at 11:30 so we'll watch that game and then it'll be nap time.

Take care and stay cool everyone!

Well, I am not at the beach! Friday Perry ended up working far longer than he expected. I was a bit disappointed but he loves his work and I can understand him trying to get the project finished before he left. He finished it up on Saturday.

So we were going to leave Sunday morning and we would have if I had not gone to the Moose Lodge. The kids were doing cartwheels and I left 2 of my friends to talk me into trying one. Yes, I used to do them when I was a kid but I am definitely not a kid anymore.

I either am having a flare-up of sciatica or I pulled a hamstring. I can see improvement this morning because I did not yell when I got out of bed this morning but I still cannot bend over or raise my leg without excruciating pain. Since I saw improvement, I am hopeful I will get better today also. Not sure if I will make it to the beach this week but that is okay too.

Normally, when I cannot do something I will keep on trying until I get it. Cartwheels are not one of those things. I will never try to do that again.

It is as hot as Hades here too! Not even a cool breeze. I think it would be better to go to the beach when school lets back in and it is cooler there. We'll see.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Enjoy your day!

    Morning, all.

Still on the cool side here, still dry. No floods, no tornados, and (so far) only a couple big fires (far from us!). And the volcanos are still sleeping, so no complaints!

Cartwheels are not one of those things.

Uh, no, we're not 18 any more! Probably needed more lubrication before trying that! :)

    Hope your recovery is quick.
