I started painting doors today. After the 3rd one I was going to quit and finish the rest tomorrow. But you know how it goes, just one more... Yep, all 5 are now done. Looks much better upstairs now. We make a good team, I paint and Mike cleans the brushes. The painting would actually be enjoyable if it wasn't for the up and down from the floor. Can't say I didn't get my exercise for the day.

Got my tomato plants tied up to the stakes because we're supposed to get T-storms tonight. So far we've had about 12 drops of rain. Got a warning on my watch that lightening was in the area so take shelter. We'd better get the rain tonight because I didn't water the plants today.

@Rat2chat2 Hey Tory! What 'cha up to? You've been MIA for awhile. You didn't move on us did you?

Morning, lizards.

A bit of rain overnight, so the hoses get a break. Maybe more on it's way, in batches.

But you know how it goes, just one more...

Yeah, and then another one, and .... ;)

But only need to make and clean up the mess once.

Well, so much for the T-storms we were supposed to get last night. I was hoping we'd get rain because my retracting hose sprung a leak and I can't use it. Fortunately I had just finished watering the garden. We've got one or two other hoses so we'll see if they still work. Plan B is to order the hose that David suggested.

Our daughter invited us over to their community pool tomorrow so it looks like we'll be spending the day with them. The boys are doing great on the swim team but we haven't seen them compete so it will be fun to see their progress. They've got a pretty nice snack bar so I won't have to figure out what to make for dinner. Happy Father's Day to me!

Hope you all have a happy weekend!

If you got more than 2 seasons out of the retracting hose, count yourself lucky

Ever try and use one with a pressure washer .. ?? Don't .. yeah, I guess I should have known better

Got an eye exam about a week ago .. 1st one in 9 years .. no real substantial change, but I did opt for bifocals this time with those polarizing lenses (think that's what they are) .. they act like sunglasses outside ..

Still getting used to this bifocal bit .. don't know if I really like them

No, not enough water. Most of those are only 1/2", not enough flow.

Got my first bifocals many many years back. Yes, they do take a bit to get used to. What got me over the hump was realizing that I usually don't look at my feet - I usually see what's ahead and remember where to step. (And my first set were the "blended" type. no lines. Found them very NOT to my liking, as the close focus area is just a little spot, not a wide band. Too much head wagging trying to read blue prints or putting a meter probe on a 480 volt terminal... next set was "regular", and those are now up to tri focals ;) )

they act like sunglasses outside ..

Used to be called "photochromic" or something like that. Yes, bright light will darken them. Wife uses that type, and likes them. I don't. Found they didn't get dark enough driving (unless driving straight into a setting or rising yellow blob, not enough light to get dark. And then not clear enough working inside a dim switchboard. Might work just fine for you!

MOrning, all.

We did get a little more rain yesterday, again claiming it will back off this AM. And the next summer has been moved up, now mid week instead of end of week.

Nothing like going from 10 below normal to 10 above - overnight...

Ugh, hope everyone is able to stay cool during this heatwave. Brings back memories of growing up without AC. When Mike and I got married our first apartment had AC and I swore I'd never live anywhere without it again! Unlike some people I really do mind the heat and it's only gotten worse the older I get.

Some of my lettuces are bolting due to the heat. I got the planting done late this year so just grabbed what plants were available. Never saw some of this type before but so far we've been enjoying them in our daily salads. I have a bunch of Romaine that's maturing all at once. I think I've got too much nitrogen in the soil because the greens are doing great, but although the tomato plants are getting huge, we're not getting a whole lot of tomatoes. I did get some lovely radishes yesterday. I love my garden!

Be careful to stay cool everyone!

Yep .. heat and cold used to never really bother me .. now, it's a different story ..

I was at Lowe's yesterday about 1:30 in the afternoon .. getting some lumber and plywood .. as it is around these parts way too common these days that you can't get an employee to give you a hand, rather than keep trying, I decided to gather it up, pay for it and load it in the truck myself (I'd brought gloves, since I figured it would go that way) ..

Well, the heatwave is on and out on the asphalt parking lot it was ....ing hot .. nearing the end of the loading, I felt like I was going to faint and was sweating heavy .. took a breather, finished ..

And I'm sure there was no shade where you were loading either. That's a double whammy with the heat rising off the asphalt. If you did pass out you probably would have gotten 3rd degree burns and then burst into flames! Fire trucks would arrive and hose you down and you'd finally be cooled off. Or maybe wait till dusk to go to Lowe's. You still won't get any help, but at least you should save on bandages.

That's funny, but, er, not funny at the same time

Hey Tory! What 'cha up to? You've been MIA for awhile. You didn't move on us did you?
I know I have been away way too much but I have just been so darn busy lately. Been running back and forth down the highway. Still working on the yard at Perry's and lots of crazy things happening.

The clutch went out on my lawnmower. The part was going to be $655 at the place where Dad bought the mower but a friend of Perry's found one on Amazon for $261. Big savings there. Perry and his son installed it and it is mowing better than ever. Perry LOVES to mow so I am accepting help and letting him do it. I am still doing the trim work like I did with dad and that takes longer to do than the riding part. Of course, I'm not walking 13 miles per hour.

A couple of days ago, Perry was mowing his yard and he stopped to tell me I could get his hedge trimmers and his mower backfired. All of a sudden Perry said where is that smoke coming from and there was a big fire behind him. I have never seen that happen. I ran and got a bucket of water and we got it put out. He thinks the motor is still okay but a bunch of plastic that protected it is toast. I am starting to think I am a jinx.

Thank you for noticing my absence!

Nope. Then again, I've been in Home Depot listening to an employee telling someone how to wire a 3 way switch that absolutely won't work, and guaranteed to trip the breaker anytime a switch changes position. Them loading plywood might be just as dangerous!

I know I have been away way too much

Welcome home, and keep the water bucket close!!
