Yep, it's winter outside. I'm so glad we're warm and cozy inside. I keep telling our cat Maggie that she's so lucky to be inside enjoying a nap in her warm cozy. Aside from a ride to the vets in the carrier she's never been outside.

Speaking of cold, seems like Mike gave me his sickness. I've got a nasty sore throat, some coughing and no energy, but I refuse to get as sick as he was.

Oh well, best to get sick now so I can be over it by the time the family gathers to celebrate Christmas. Our daughter and family are in AZ so we won't be able to get together with her and also our son and his family until next weekend. Weird to celebrate in mid-January, but this Christmas has been a bust anyway. I'll have all the decorations put away by then. Once New Years Eve is over it just seems like the decorations are all wrong and have to go. This is when I wish I were Elizabeth Montgomery (Bewitched) and just twitch my nose and have it all gone!!

Morning, loungers.

While we do often have days, sometimes weeks of rain, at least most of the time our winter temps are in the low 40s :) Low to mid is the guess for the coming week.

Then again, when we DO have weeks of rain, it does get a bit... dreary ;)

Updated prognostication .. it's gonna get cold next week ..

Went to the farm and ranch store yesterday and had them load 300LBS of bagged sand in the truck bed .. I'm expecting this storm is going to start with sleet, turn to ice and end with a snow dump, they're talking possibly 12" .. and with temps like this, it ain't going away anytime soon ..

That extra weight can make a real difference, 4x4 or not

Smart move, getting the sand. I've always thought that sand was the best thing to have for traction on sidewalks etc. We've used kitty litter, but I thought it didn't do nearly as good. And the weight in your truck is definitely helpful. On the other hand, if you're getting 12" of snow just hunker down and don't go out in it. It's a good time to make some bread and a nice pot of beef stew!

Indeed it does, but I'm with Janet. Stock up, hunker down.

Yeah, ok in a pinch, but it IS clay, so just turns to muck once it gets wet.

Good morning. 20 degrees outside going up to 30. The snow is supposed to show up in the wee hours of Monday morning and continue all day. They're saying 3-6 inches with gusty winds. At least the temps will stay below freezing so we should get just snow without the icing first. That's the worst if we have to go out anywhere,

Wow, don't think I had any coughing fits during the night so the worst of this sickness is probably over. We're both feeling more normal which is a good thing so I can make some soup or beef stew - maybe both - and Mike has the snowblower all ready to go. If I'm going to be snowed in I'd like to enjoy it!

I'd better make a batch of suet for the birds and the seed feeders are stocked up so the birds will be taken care of too,

Willie, I hope your cold temps minimize the ice. Maybe it'll all be snow. It'll be beautiful!!

Good morning Fran. So far the snow is a lot less than forecasted. Most optimistic forecast is it might end by early afternoon and it didn’t start until around 6am this morning. Might luck out and only get a couple inches, not the 5-6 that was being forecasted yesterday.

    Morning, all.

Hope everyone in the storm's path is warm and dry!

Rain is backing off here, mid 40s, and sunbreaks in the guess. Of course, as the cloud cover goes away the temp will drop - to the low 40s. We'll take it!

Good morning people. 17 outside with gusty winds. Only going to 31 so the 2" of snow we got just got blown around, didn't go anywhere. We had an alert that any wet roads would be icy with snow blowing over them. Well, duh.

Mike has to go to the docs today to find out why his ears are clogged up. Most of our conversations include a few "What?s" So, he'll go see what's up with that and report on how the roads are doing.

This area seems to lose elec pretty easily so we were prepared for that. We've heard of areas being without elec which is pretty scary in these temps. I hope people and pets are able to handle that.
