I take it that you ladies have never seen the Band of Brothers, miniseries. LOL

Jerry - I have never watched it. I tried watching Saving Private Ryan and threw up at the beginning when that guy's arm got blown off and then he picked it up and was walking around with it. I cannot watch things that involve humans hurting other humans -- I just lose it - literally. Stupid scary movies that I know aren't real? Yes. Human torture movies? Cannibal movies? No way Jose. Uh Uh, not this girl....

I especially liked the episode about the medic at the Battle of the Bulge. It really caught my attention, because my uncle was a medic and was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge.

I've seen all the whole thing, remember that. Yeah, the stories are well done because they were based on actual accounts. :)

I can handle violent movies more if it's in combat (don't know why), but street and gang violence movies bother me more. Sorry about yoru reaction. :)

Sun, I'm with you on movie limits....Blow 'em up action...fine, i know it's not real...but too much reality, people harming people or animals, i just can't do it.

Catching the drift of the conversation when I busted open the doors. I agree. Basically, I don't do the action genre for the reasons some have elaborated on. My favorite all time is Carl Sagan's "contact". violence, yes, portrayed in a negative light and not the overwhelming theme of the movie, nor the book.

Fortunately, I never saw combat, Sun. But my understanding is that Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers were true representations of what war is really like. My uncle was hit with shrapnel from German 88mm artillery fire. Years later, he showed me his scar and it wasn't pretty.

I'm glad you never had to see combat Jerry. One of my brothers was in Africa, decoding messages and the other was in 'Nam for two tours. Although not physically wounded, the mental trauma had to have been horrible with the things I overhead him telling my parents. They never would have allowed me to hear such horrors but I sneaked. Real smart. Now sometimes those horrors run around in my head.

There was violence in Contact? Are you talking about the alien machine blowing up or something else?
