.....probably a kayaking class. Not everybody lives in Hawaii! He leaned back too late..........

I had to take a canoeing class when I first worked for the EPA because I was doing river sampling. The early classes were in a very large pool because it was still so cold. That's where we learned to raise sunk canoes from the bottom, and other tasks. Then we did it it a lake. Then we did it in a river. Probably the most fun class I've had in my life - and the most exhausting.

Are you an environmental science person? That's my son's major.

Yes. It's my second career. I was an accountant for just a few years and went back to school because I was bored out of my skull. Tell him for me that he has made a great choice - if he loves it. Also - since it's not an env. engineering degree, I would advise a dual degree with chemistry or at least a chemistry minor. That will help him get places if he doesn't want or doesn't have the env. engineering option.

He's actually ESOH and is already interning with a huge petroleum company in our city. (U know where I live)

Yeah, his major is a little different and he has a ton of opportunities. He's been interning at the big M since June and they just signed him up for this summer. He actually is kinda specializing in chemical security threats.

Ooooooooo...... that wasn't around so much when I was starting out. How things have changed! It used to be all about accidental spill/release containment. Now we have to worry about all the crazies out there, too!
