The BeeGees are my favorite band of all time, jj.

I sometimes do afternoons....once in a while evenings...tonight my exercise friends are having the party we had to cancel last week, so I am meeting them, exercising and then going out to eat with them. You are right....usually it is about 4 p.m. when I go.

OK....now hubs has asked that I change the credit card info on Paypal and give info for the card we do not use much....and of course they are still processing the one I gave them....what a PIA. And then I will do the security thing....I have been reading horror stories of people getting their whole life savings ripped off by spammers of Paypal. Seems hubs was right to be concerned....hopefully the extra security will take care of that. And I do not plan on using Paypal except for this once a year payment. Maybe that will help control the security issue.

Glam son & I have belonged to PayPal for years and I'm the only one that had a problem which was more of a pain then anything else.

When shopping for stuff for last Xmas, because there was a problem, I got a call every time that I used PayPal and I had to return a four digit code via the phone so the purchase would go through.

I don't know if this is because of the key number that I had (as in someone trying to get into the account) or not but I was sure glad the safeguard was there.

On the other hand, I don't keep that much money in my PayPal account and the bank account it has access to does not have instant transfer from our savings account.

I think the problems with money being taken might be when the sellers did something against PayPal's rules.

Well, I am not going to keep any money in Paypal...just using a credit card. No bank info at all. Hopefully, that will help also. And our credit card company is really good about calling us if something seems fishy. And several websites said the Paypal accounts are really subject to a lot of phishing fraud....if you get an email asking for any info....delete it, it is probably fraudulent. It still makes me nervous....what a great wealth of information for someone looking to steal.

Does anyone know....can I just cancel this as soon as the ECF transaction is done....and then set up Paypal again next year?

You could just remove your credit card once the transaction is done. With no linked card or bank it is impossible for any transaction to take place. Simply add the card again next year but keep the account.

I've had my account for many years, but I ignore and delete emails from PayPal, preferring to use my own bookmark instead.

Cheers,
Rick

I do the same thing!!

Everyone should go directly to their site and log in. If there is a problem, you will be told there.

Thanks so much, Rick and jj. I had already found a website that told me to do just that. So I deleted my credit card info....now hopefully will be able to remember the info next year at ECF membership renewal time....hope old age doesn't take it out of my brain. You say to write it down.....I did, but still have to remember where I put the info. :D

Poor old Glam!

It won't matter if you use a different credit card next year.

Yes, I was.......:D

 LOL....CNN just announced a t.v. station in Montana had their computers hacked and a breaking news story flashed on the screen that bodies were arising from their graves and were attacking the living. A voice came on and told people to stay away from the "zombies" as they were extremely dangerous. LOL...people thought it was serious and started calling the station to find out what they should do...they were scared. Shows you how dangerous (and/or funny) technology can be.

Poor old Glam is right....I was reading about the cruise ship in your post jj, and missed both of your good morning posts. Sorry guys...I always "like" when I am being addressed...I just missed both of those posts.

CNN is saying some of those people are in pretty bad shape and the boat is moving at the speed of a lawn mower. Hubs and I are supposed to do an Alaskan cruise this summer....?????? :( Wonder why Carnival hasn't sent another ship to get them. I do believe I would be a little upset that there evidently is no fail safe plan in case something like this happens. Sometimes "all about the money" attitude backfires.
