When I was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, my commanding officer, wanted to take me up in a UH-1 (Huey) helicopter. I told him no thanks, I wasn't interested in going anywhere in a helicopter. LOL

I've been in a couple actually. They're really cool. One was in TN over Pigeon Forge, and the other was just a 'fun day' our small local airport was hosting. In fact, I'd like to live somewhere that I could only get there by helicopter...now that would be awesome! :)

well I hope to see her before that!!!!!!!!!!!

Night fudgey.............sleep tight.

Have more birthdays. :D

The worst is the airline that we have always used left the area and we had to use another. Let's just say, we are looking into others!

I found smaller airports soooo much better. LAX made me want to strangle someone, but our local little airport was nice and relaxing, very short lines.

Thanks for that Jag....no more flying for me!

It'll be a loooonnngggg drive if that's the case.

We take off out of Bloomington or Peoria and they are small. We lay over in Chicago or Atlanta which is the pits! We arrive in Raleigh which is small. :)

Good night Puff - nice to see you tonight!:)

You are exactly right. I love to fly. Have even been in a helicopter and loved it. But the first time was just a little 6 seater 'jumper' plane and it wasn't my best first experience. Since then I've been on a few big planes and loved it. The worst part is hanging out in the airport.

My very first flight was in a single-engine, recreational plane. Guess who owned and flew it? Even though I have a snapshot of it, I forget his name. He played Tonto in the Lone Ranger many yrs ago - a good friend of my uncle's who was the manager of a small private airport.:)

I wouldn't.....my stomach does flips when I hit a dip in the road!

Exhale when the plane dips, inhale when it rises. My own trick to keep from getting sick.

LOL, I said that yesterday when I was working for the Marine's, and then I had to explain what it meant when I saw the blank looks on their faces. Made me feel pretty old.

But, they brought back Hawaii 5-0 for a little while, didn't they?

It was a lot of fun, Campi. I was about 12 years old and when he saw the train, he asked me if it was ok if we "attacked" it. I was thrilled, heck yea, let's attack it. He even let me "fly" the plane for a minute or two. :)

That would be fun too...but I don't know if I could 'fly' it...always wanted to learn that, but I'll leave that to the professionals!

Remember what I said about jetliners? Helicopters have no aerodynamics at all. It all depends on the engine, babe.

I do love to watch the people.

It is interesting what some people do at an airport. Some is really weird!!

They're ALL weird!!

Well, Campi, the thing about helicopters is that if the engine conks out, there's no bailing out, no parachutes, because you will end up in the main propeller, which is still turning, even though the engine is dead. The only thing that can be done, is for the pilot to glide it back to the ground. I had seen enough copter wrecks, to know that only an experienced pilot has a chance of doing that successfully.

Or you can just sit back and enjoy the ride. Except for those bumpy rides....they aren't any fun at all! My last trip was bumpy the whole way...my knuckles were white from hanging on to the armrest!
