My opinion, which I know you all want, :D, teachers should be trained in gun usage and all should be carrying....wouldn't it be nice for the school shootings to have a happier ending? How many lives could be saved....if only that principal had had a gun!

Don't stop there! In order for the principals to hit the right invading person and not one of their kids while defending them, they better be required lots of target practice time. But then, a revolver or Glock is no defense against someone barging in with an AK-47 or M16 clone, so they'd need more firepower. They should be carrying M60's with armor piercing bullets cuz some of those weirdos come in with bullet proof jackets. While we're at the arms race, principals should come to school in an M1A1 Abrams heavy battle tank just in case the assailant is packing an RPG.

OK, I ranted. No more from me. :D

Well there are training courses here and I think everyone should take them. I know both our kids have.

As for a hand gun against an assault...If the person with the hand gun has any sense at all, he/she can come out the winner of the match.

Still I would be nice if they had more protection in the schools. I can only assume there are a few Veterans out there more than willing to take the job.

And enough said.

Back to dealing with a Savings Bond and FB..I'm having so much fun today!!!!!!!

Unrequited love is close, something elusive, maybe tenderness. Thank you.

Thank you, Di. It was about a dream. Have you had dreams of searching for someone but not seeing the person's face clearly?

All the time. Your poem describes the experience succinctly, but my dreams just end with an alarm clock... (Well, and ok, they're about a guy)

Exactly, Jan. We are not talking about a wild west shootout here. A well trained security guard could easily gain the advantage on the attacker. One shot to the back of the head and it's over.

Jerry, we have armed security in our building, but by the time they would get to a classroom with a shooter armed with a semiauto, well... there's not much they can do about that. What do civilians need high powered weaponry for?

Well today just isn't going to be my day.
I go and sign up for an account to buy a savings bond and then I'm told I have to take a form to some place and get it signed in front of a certified person.

Now WTH is that all about....I mean I just gave them a whole bunch of personal info and the can't verify it!! Did they lose me or something!!!!!!!!!!!!

The other thing that needs to change is how we train teachers and kids to react in a dangerous situation. It's much harder to hit a moving target that is throwing stuff at you than a target that is stationary. Lock downs are not a good reaction to an active shooter scenario... just sayin'. I know that if there is a shooter in our building, we will not sit still. (But, hey, we're a pretty rowdy bunch on a good day!)

I think that's a happier, more hopeful ending than being waved off.

Thanks for your insider input, Di. :)

Don't wait too long, or you lose the tax deduction for this year. Are they tax deductible? A friend of mine says he buys them online.
