Oh gee VG! Sorry to hear that
Not turning out to be the greatest Friday ever!
Glad you got it done!
Is this cat people friendly?
And off I go. I have to leave early because there is a B-day party for a lady who is knocking on the door of 80.

This cat has only been protecting itself when I had to grab it. I moved it from the trap to the carryall when I first got it, and I moved it back today. I got a better grip the first time. The trap is set standing Up on the back side, you get the animal down to the bottom, and then reach down. There's not much room to go sideways, so the animal tries to come Up. It's pretty easy to get a grip. However, it was in a pretty large carryall, made for dogs, really.
I have a set of gloves that I made from 2 sets of welding gloves (yes, I can sew). I cut one set to extend the sleeves of the other a long time ago. Before our City Animal Shelter started killing, the workers let some get past them, so I made these gloves to prevent that from happening (or at least before I learned they were killing).
I approached the cat in the carryall very slowly, in stages, talking softly. It let me get about 2 inches away before it lurched. I kinda got it, but we struggled to the floor as I turned around to the trap. It almost got away twice. I finally got the nape of the neck (like momma does) and was able to get it inside, but my right-hand glove almost came off before that. I held it down with my left hand, and worked the glove back on with my mouth. Some of the cuts are high, so my gloves don't go high enough for this kind of thing, and some are above and around my elbow, from when the glove nearly came off. It's amazing how strong a creature this small is when it thinks it's fighting for its life.
It was an adventure of sorts, but not a bad Friday at all. I don't see it that way. I have the cat moved now so I can easily change the food and water, and be able to clean the litter. I made a pillow of a rather large towel folded in thirds, and then flipped in half. I used duct tape in a few spots to keep its shape. I covered that with a t-shirt and used duct on the bottom. It's a decent setup, but I realized I wouldn't be able to get the pillow in there, if I ever try to do this again, without having to take the cat out first. But everything else about it is pretty easy to use.
I'll take him/her to the Vet in this rig early on Monday, and get it back in a smaller carryall early enough in the day so it's still "out" or too drugged to fight so I can trim its claws before taking it for adoption... whenever that may be. After trimming, I'll put it back in the trap.
As far as "people friendly," I thought it would be, and I still do. It's been quite docile unless I had to grab it. The 2nd agency will make that determination, I guess. I'll ask them to let me know, and if it has to be released, at least it will be "fixed."
