I always wanted to ... still might some day ... got a college right here I always thought they'd be a hot spot for customers.

Right now its all friends/family but there is a lot of those so it keeps me busy .... building a DT for my daughter right now...

I used to build custom-built high-performance PCs when I first started back in 1997, but I quit doing that. It's hard to compete with prices and warranty when Dell and them make 1000/month, and I'm only doing one or two. I partnered with Dell years ago, and help my customers pick the best Dell for their budget.

Oh ok .. that's great .. hope its working well for you ? I love building DT's ... I nearly volunteer when a fam member needs a new one ... my granddaughter will be going to college soon and needs one but it has to be small and I never built any of the smaller ATX systems so it will be a learning time for sure mostly b/c of my eyes they are terrible

Depending on your Vendor/Supplier, you can purchase the small frame motherboards already in a case with a power supply, and build the rest around that... add your CPU, RAM, HDD, CDRW/DVDRW, etc. Or just get the smaller case with the power supply already in it, and then the appropriate sized motherboard. The only big differences are the power supply, and sometimes the types of CPUs. The rest of it is generally the same.

I was actually looking at those sort of starter kits ... /I usually deal with Newegg b/c I like the prices and delivery is fast .... I have to see what exactly she wants ... and she mostly uses her laptop so if its not going to get that much use I will cut some corners for her. I try to use good parts as I can so I don't have to do a "service call lol

That's exactly the way I did it, back when. If they didn't want high-performance, they didn't want a computer from me. By high-performance, I also mean top-quality name-brand parts, like ASUS Motherboards.
