Sea turn off the phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't answer my home phone ... EVER ... too many telemarketers, especially around the holidays. I have a message on my phone saying that anyone who has my cell phone number is welcome to and encouraged to use it to reach me; and that anyone else is welcome to leave a non-marketing message, and I will return their call as soon as I can. It works ... at last, peace at home.

Good night jj, happy travels.

Good night, Glam, sweet dreams.

The power grid did drills not yield the American blackout that was feared for the past 3 mos., but I would like to suggest having a flashlight handy at all times. The next time Obama throws a tantrum and shuts down the govt, he might shut down the power too to punish the people for making their congressmen oppose him.

I recently went out and bought 3 oil lamps, fuel for them and several large candles. My cell phone is usually near me, so turning that on can at least guide me to my matches and candles.

I always fear something "off" during the holidays ... so you can just ignore me being pessimistic.

I'm working on what people call a bug-out bag so at least I will have clean undies, a toothbrush and matches if I have to flee a tidal wave coming.

So this is why you were looking at Prepper sites. Living in LA with hurricanes, one always has 6V Flashlights (I have 3 now, with a 4th one that's out), other flashlights, Hurricane lamps and lots of oil for them, several large candles and Bic lighters, and things like that. I also have a hand-crank flashlight that can charge my cellphone.

Wow, VG, you're more prepared than I am. We don't have many catastrophes here. So far we've been missed for unmanageable wildfires. It also helps that I live so close to the Pendleton base. It's huge. When there was a fire on the base, it didn't last even a day ... more men out there than flames. I now have two flaslights but forgot to buy a stash of batteries. I've noticed that some of the newer batts are guaranteeing a shelf life of 10 yrs, so it feels more favorable to stock up now.

Keep those batteries in your Freezer, and they'll last nearly forever!!!

So this is why you were looking at Prepper sites.

I've been looking at prepper sites for a couple of years b/c I have an Excalibur food dehydrator that I've used quite a lot. The preppers use them constantly, and I am interested in some of their backpacker ready-meals recipes. Back-packer meals have everything sealed in one bag ... just add water to rehydrate and then cook and a big pot of soup appears.

Wow, DD has now called me 3 times in a row over different things ... can't keep up with the thread tonight.
