It's the same across the nation, but from what I can tell, NY fights it harder than elsewhere. Sad indeed. :(
The people fight it....our last mayor, not so much. I'm hoping our new mayor will. We've been fighting against Walmart for years, but Target got in two years (I think?) ago. I won't shop there...

Good night Sun :)

It doesn't have to be. A large part of the cost is rent...If the landlords would turn down the greed a notch, then mom and pops could afford the rent. As it is, many national chains use profits to help subsidize their "flagship" stores in NY. I also believe that there is value in stores that have been around for over a hundred years, but it seems many others do not. It's sad...

I love Mom & Pops stores but, even here, there aren't many.

Denny's tried to come to NYC but it didn't work. We try to keep out the riff-raff, ya know

EDIT: Hi OB :)

So are you gonna take your sis anywhere nice to eat in NY or just stay home and cook?
What is your opinion on the best pizza joint/Italian/etc in the Broadway area?
Just curious....
:)
