About a week ago I went to our local gas station and picked up a blu starter kit. I was really hoping it would work for me, but it just didn't produce enough vapor. So I researched online about what ecig was best and didnt even realize all the options available! So after a couple nights of research I planned a purchase that I planned on making as soon as possible, but went to the cigarette outlet yesterday to see if they had other flavors of blu carts to get me by until I made my order. I was completely shocked that they had a whole case full of ecigs and e-liquid :) They only had a few types of ecigs though (most of the case was the e-liquid) and the brands they had were some I hadn't heard of. So I settled on the Green Leaf GT Ego (the info had different numbers so not sure if its a 3,4, ect) that both of the girls who worked there use and recommend, and also got 3 bottles of 18mg 10ml e-liquid which was the highest they had. I love 2 of the flavors, but not the menthol I thought I would like since I smoke menthols. So since getting the blu starter kit a week ago, I have only went through 2 packs of cigarettes and today I only smoked 3 analogs all day. That is great for me since I have had a 1 PAD habit for over 20 years. So far I am in love with my ecig, but when will the cravings stop? It isn't so much of a physical craving, but more of a mental one. Normally when I have given in today it was after the thought of never having another "real" cigarette again. I have wanted to quit for years now, but just haven't been able to keep motivation to stop. I have tried quitting using patches, Chantix, Welbutrin, and gum with no luck. I ENJOY smoking. I just don't like the health effects of the habit, and feeling like I can't breathe. I feel guilty every time I grab an analog, and worry it is a sign I will fail at this too.

The prevailing wisdom here has taught me that it's all about how many cigarettes you don't smoke. Don't beat yourself up over the ones you do. It may take time to find the right juice for you. There are tons of online vendors with more choices in flavor and nic content than I can count.

For me, quitting happened faster than I planned. The vape tasted so good that I preferred it. For a couple weeks, I would think I wanted to smoke so I would light one up. Never finished them, they tasted terrible. Next thing I knew, I hadn't done that in several weeks and the pack I bought over a month ago was still in my console. It's still there today, although I don't know why.

Read around the forums for better advice than mine and be proud of yourself for taking this step. You're doing something great for yourself and you can succeed. I smoked for over twenty years and pretty much quit accidentally.

Give it a bit more time. I was smoke free in about 2 weeks but relapsed when I ran out of liquid or was doing things that made it hard to vape. I have been smoke free for quite a while and I have it beat.

You might have to try a few things to pull it off. When I went the expensive route analogs cravings were crushed hard.

Just keep it up, dont let yourself down! the cravings go away eventually when you find the right setup for you! It took me a few weeks of vaping/smoking to get over the cravings. how much nicotine is in your juice?

My juice has 18mg. I don't feel like its withdrawl type cravings, it hits more when I think about the fact I wont have another cigarette. It doesn't help that my DH is still smoking, right in front of me. I don't expect him to quit, that has to be his choice, but I feel the cravings when he lights up.

The 3 I have smoked today tasted horrible, so hopefully it won't be long :)

Stay determined and headfast. You most certainly can quit smoking with e-cigarettes. Thousands have done so. Everyone has done it differently and there is no single way that is "best". Some people can quit cold turkey using vaping; others use a combination and wean themselves off the cigs gradually while vaping. Just understand that its not how many cigs you smoke that's important, its how many you DON'T smoke that's important.

When I quit, I allowed myself a few cigs a day while I vaped as much as I wanted. If I desired a cig, I vaped more. If that didn't help my craving, I allowed myself HALF of a cigarette. I followed this for an entire week. Toward the end of the week I enjoyed the cigarettes less and less and actually preferred vaping more. When the last cig in the pack was finished, so was I. I was able just vape and not want another cigarette. I haven't had another cigarette in over 1.5 years and couldn't be happier.

If you find that you are still struggling after a couple of weeks, realize there are still better vaping devices and better e-liquids than what you currently have. Don't be afraid to upgrade to better products.

Have you got him to try one?

When my Evod starter kit came in on 1/21/14, my boyfriend picked up the second battery and protank, filled it with juice, and vaped away haha. He found his all day vape juice like 3 days later when we went to the nearby vape shop. Hasn't had a cigarette since. I got pretty lucky there ;).

I've had more difficulty quitting. I craved a cigarette pretty bad at times for the first week, but I never gave in because I wasn't having withdrawal symptoms. After the two week point, I haven't even wanted a cigarette. They don't sound appealing at all.

I wish you the best of luck and have full faith that you can quit smoking altogether with ecigs :).

Temporarily, you might ask Odd Ball to please at least leave the room--or you can do so--if it bothers you.

For me, for a while, the "no more cigarettes" thought was scary too. In my case, I changed that thought to, "mostly no more cigarettes but I'm allowed if I want to." I had my own permission to smoke, and I did here and there for about two months at constantly decreasing rates. Then I just kind of put them down and forgot to pick them up again...and it wasn't senility at 43 years old. :)

Eventually you realize you aren't giving up an old friend you dearly love. You're giving up on a toxic relationship that was holding you back and killing you. It's kind of a fun moment when that change happens.

He has tried mine, but had a frustrated look on his face like I was making him do something and he just wanted me to shut up. I think I've been talking to him too much about me using it and liking it LOL I am hoping he will get one eventually if I am successful.

Yep, the "you're making me put down my best friend, the cigarette, and try this...thing." I've seen the look.

At some point, he may decide to try it. Perhaps not. It's best not to push too much.

Take the pressure off yourself. For me, the "This is the last cigarette" was totally counterproductive.

I look at it this way:

At any point, I have the choice. I can smoke, or I can vape. I vape MUCH more often than I smoke, but I still do have a couple a day.
It's still much better for me than before.

Eventually I hope to be off cigarettes completely, but for now I'm still doing much better for myself.

I never went the cig-a-like route, I started on EGO type batteries and low end clearomisers.

I managed to switch over immediately from a 3+ pack a day habit, but I was really really sick of tabaccos side effects. But it took 6 months to find a setup that was produced enough vapor with enough flavor to make me really happy.

I have friends that took months to wean themselves over with the same setup I started on and others who were literally forced by heart disease to give up tobacco and who were using blues, but were still craving the stinkies and un-satisfied. When I gave them some of my old kit, were just as happy as a 5 year old that found santas entire pack under his tree.

Vaping is subjective, everyone is different, but if you are not quite getting enough with the blues, you might try upgrading.

If you can find a dedicated and knowledgeable vape shop, the good ones have samplers of their flavors and will let you borrow a battery in the store just to see if you like that style better.

As far as your other goes, let it slide, you will do better as an example.

If you can get something that really works well for you and he sees you enjoying it he will sooner or later get curious about this vaping thing that you are really enjoying, not to mention you will start smelling things and tasting things, wait for your first smoke free dinner after your taste buds start really coming back!

I started last May and I gotta tell you Thanksgiving and Christmass dinners were the best I have had since I was a kid!

I made the switch instantly, and completely, and for 5 days I was okay, not perfect, but managing well. Day 6 SUCKED!
Literally couldn't stop grinding teeth and chewing on my tongue the entire time I was awake, and nobody wanted to be around me. Nothing helped at all.

I'd not fault or think less of anyone for making it easier on themselves by having a smoke when it gets like that.
