The Augvape VX200 is on the edge of the budget shiny, but I can get one here. Any comments? looks quite compact and light! And center connection!

Heck, I just found this thread! I've had the VX200 for awhile now and love it. Lightest mod I own for a dual 18650. Easy to navigate and wattage is in full increments (not fond of fractional steps when impatient:rolleyes:). The gunmetal matches up with my Serpent Elevate perfectly.

like you, I am on a budget. I rarely buy a mod over $50. However, I find there is a line to be drawn as far as quality. like you, I would buy inexpensive mods.. and many of them were name brand. Under $50 is great for single battery mods, but for dual battery regulated, it gets harder. Al

most all the cheap mods under 50 broke. Plain and simple, they were made cheaply. This last mod, I theorized... either I can buy a $30 mod multiple times like I have been, or I can find the most inexpensive mod that is durable and NOT mechanical. my search was for mods that have stood the test of time.... one mod kept coming up, and that was the Smoant Cylon. The mod cost me $43, and everyone said it has held up well. so here's my "budget mod"
Sweet looking mod;). I have a gunmetal Aromamizer Lite on top of this one and the finish is a perfect matchy matchy. I've had no issues with this mod.

OK, here are a few "oldies but mostly goodies" (except the SMOK one), for the really budget minded. The Sigelei ZMAX V5 (in Gunmetal, or Black Chrome, or Silver) is a really good deal, IMO, if you vape 15W or less. All are less than $11 + S/H.

Clearance
Geez, they even include batteries with this one.

Nice looking setup. I like mine as well. I've always had the cylon on my "want list" since it came out. When people after people claimed it stood the test of time, I pulled the trigger. I always put a kepler heat sink between my atomizers and the mod to keep juice from seeping into the 510.. it helps protect the mod quite a bit, as well as protect it from scratches. It's so far been a rock solid design, and it seems to hold up well as far as scratches and whatnot.

I was just about to say that on Gearbest, it was on sale, but the warehouse that has them on sale doesn't ship to the US... I should know, I was going to order a backup myself. :) Edited this 10 minutes later because I was going to rush and get the last gunmetal. :)

That one has been out for quite a while. :) For mechanical, I would say it's "ok"... It doesn't match one of my main requirements in that it doesn't have a locking mechanism.

I have had 3 Bolts for years and it has always been on of my favorites. Mine have the extender ring for different batt sizes though.

In the description it says to use only protected batteries. To my understanding the batteries we use as a whole aren’t protected due to additional size. Is that mod slightly longer than the more common sizes that use unprotected 18650s? Can you fit a mosfet in there without any issue?

I have used my button tops and while I haven't used a fuse in there, I am sure it would fit if you were using flat top, unprotected batts. I use the Dovpo Safe Link.

Yes, it should be slightly longer by a MM or so to allow for the button top batteries. That also limits the discharge of the battery, so these won't be cloud chasers.

Might ought to check if the SmokTech Magnet Bolt is ok for sub-ohm setups. I was looking and one site recommended no lower than 1.5 ohm builds. Might just be C.Y.A. by the site.

I personally wouldn't use a mech for sub ohm builds and I don't think the Bolt is recommended for sub ohm.

What about a mech would make it not suitable for sub ohm vaping? Very thin battery contacts? My level of “expertise” has me checking the coil, battery capability and then overall quality of the mech itself. I’m sure there’s some $2 mechs out there built out of tissue paper but the ones I’ve seen like that (da one, for example) I wouldn’t want to run anything in.

What separates mechs suitable for sub ohm from ones not suitable?
